"Kidcleugh Hide was an amazing find."
Myself, my partner and our springer had the best time enjoying the secluded feel away from the world and what felt like a retreat from our working lives. Listening and observing the wildlife all around us and staring up at the stars at night was truly peaceful.
We would definitely recommend the Kidcleugh Hide for the perfect getaway to relax and unwind.

"Scott was incredibly welcoming, we were surrounded by beautiful views and it was very peaceful."
It’s right on the Southern Uplands Way so you could walk right from the door. We could have stayed for at least another week!! Although the kitchen was small, it was very well equipped - possibly the best we’ve ever experienced! The bathroom had spa-like vibes and the upstairs living area was incredibly comfortable and spacious. The garden was lovely, however we’d not realised there was a pond - thankfully the dog didn’t take a dip, but as he was young, we had to accompany him each time we let him out. The property was perfectly situated with a decent sized co-op, butchers, and bakery within 10 mins and there was loads of sightseeing all within a hour. Would highly recommend for anyone looking to get away from it all!

"Unbelievable spot, peaceful and beautiful place to stay."
The Hide itself is absolutely ideal and has everything you need, the views from the big windows are incredible and the whole place feels like a home from home. Our Dog (Stanley) also loved the paddock and burn to play in! Can't recommend Kidcleugh Hide any higher!

"We spent a magical Christmas in the Hide, despite the wind, rain and storms of the season - it was still absolutely stunning."
Cosy, warm, comfortable, and so cool to listen to the rain while lying next to a wood stove. The Hide itself is gorgeous, has everything you need for a short or long stay, and is conveniently located near Duns, which has all the ammeneties you need for a cosy stay. There is plenty to see in the area, we visited Eyemouth, Berwick, Duns, Kelso and did some short walks in the local area. We have visited the borders many times but this is our first time staying in the Hide, we would absolutely stay there again. Scott and Aitor are wonderful hosts, making sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable Christmas stay. Thank you to both of them for their kind hostpitality, and we hope to be back soon!
Thank you so much for your review Garryck, we are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at the hide. Also thank you for your kindness in leaving us a Christmas decoration that you crafted during you stay. It will be on display at Christmas time for years to come for others to continue to enjoy. All the best Scott

"This is the most beautiful cozy cottage and we loved staying there."
It is rather remote and takes about 30-50 minutes to visit the coast. Duns town centre is very quiet and when we went on Saturday afternoon about 3pm, it was like a ghost town and most of the shops were closed. Not many pubs or restaurants in the area to visit but we did find the Craw inn about a 20 minute drive away which was highly recommended, so we were very secluded but it is a lovely place to stay if you just want to walk around the forest and chill. Perfect place for relaxing. Cottage has all the general facilities that you would need, the kitchen sink is not in a great positioned for someone small like me but I understand this due to the tiny layout. Just needs some usable kitchen scissors and bin bags lol. My hubby was a bit perturbed that we needed to buy extra logs for the fire as the last time we stayed they were all provided, but overall I would definitely recommend for 3-4 days for a quietly cosy restful time and be prepared to drive a lot if you want to visit the coast, Edinburgh or Northumberland.
Thank you for your feedback Yvonne. We will certainly make sure we change those scissors if they are no longer up to the job! Regards Scott

We had good weather . Good facilities and lots of local places to eat . We spent a lot of time in Berwick and St Abbs as we’d stayed in the area 2 years ago .
Having just had knee replacement surgery the holiday certainly gave me some physio as stairs were a test for my new knee . A delightful place in beautiful countryside . Highly recommended

The upstairs room has two very comfortable sofas and also plenty of space for dining and sleeping. Plus amazing views! Downstairs the kitchen is small and washing up is awkward but this is more than compensated for by the wonderful upstairs! Look forward to a return visit.

"Had a great stay in this excellent cottage."
..It's quite rare for something to live up to expectations and more...it's simply delightful and has everything you need for a comfortable stay...I loved the bespoke furniture...Bed was large and comfortable on the firmer side which I prefer.. We went in April and had lovely weather ..The cottage was a little warm at times, so in the hot summer months, I would recommend a fan of some sort as I think it would be too hot in there. For winter there were two hot water bottles that could be used as well as extra blankets... Loved the shower with plenty of hot water and complimentary hotel type toiletries were left and a shower cap... Kitchen was very compact and wouldn't want to cook a big meal in there ..but it was fully equipped with cooker, microwave, fridge and a freezer in the carport plus all sorts of utensils, toaster, kettle etc so perfectly adequate and everything you need really ...Complimentary tea and coffee were left, plus the most delicious dark chocolate biscuits I have ever tasted! Also there is two dog bowls and some doggy treats left for your furry friend, plus a dog washing area in the carport too...The decking area leading from the living area was delightful and we enjoyed having our breakfast looking out to the wonderful countryside listening to the morning chatter of the birds singing....Even though this cottage is very rural...it's in an ideal location to go exploring to such places as st Abbs, Eyemouth The village of Duns has a lovely feel to it and is very close by for your local amenities... Northumberland border is not too far away , Edinburgh is only about an hour's drive ...plus all the lovely walks on your doorstep...All in all this place is perfect for a peaceful gateway in comfortable, beautiful surroundings and would highly recommend anyone to stay here ...Thank you so much!
We really do appreciate you taking the time to leave such comprehensive feedback. We do have a large floor standing fan for guest use which is usually kept inside the property, but i suspect we may have forgotten to bring it back after the winter (it was taken away to reduce clutter when not needed). Its is back there now, but sorry if you did not have the benefit of it for your stay.

It was perfect, and the views were breathtaking! It was remote enough to relax, remove ourselves from the everyday hussle and bussle of life, while also being close enough to town (Duns) for necessities. The property was clean and had everything we needed! The host (Scott) was so accommodating and responsive! He was so sweet and a great host! We definitely recommend this property and would absolutely stay again!

The hide is beautiful with the open plan living space creating a light, airy daytime atmosphere and a cosy evening setting to watch the glorious sunsets and enjoy the fabulous log burner.
The hide is located in a relatively remote position, surrounded by lovely countryside and is right on the Southern Upland Way, so it's perfect for walking. Quietest place we've stayed. Peaceful view from the deck. Feeling of remoteness. BBQ. No mobile signal was a plus. Internet a little slow but not problematic. We were on holiday so not a big deal. Bedding clean and comfortable. Covered carparking bay. Great for loading and unloading our stuff. Definitely a plus in the rain. Also when making enquiries about equipment and facilities in the property, the owners were super fast in responding.

"This is a real little Gem of a place."
Extremely comfortable and well equipped and very cosy. With undfloor heating in the bathroom and kitchen.
Beautiful garden. Very quiet and tranquil.
We spent a wonderful week at this property.
The only couple of things I would bring to anyone’s attention is the kitchen sink is right in a corner and does make washing up quite difficult!!!!. The other is the parking of the car as very narrow lane. There is parking under the hide for two cars but quite a difficult manoeuvre because of the narrowness of the path and the main wooden pillar of the hide.
The owner Scott was very helpful and accommodating .
A great location for anyone who wishes to go into Northumberland as we did . Visited Cragside and Bamburgh castle. Lots of up to date information on places to visit which are up to date.
