After you left I found that the batteries had gone flat in the thermostat control unit so the heating did not come on in the bedrooms. You had my contact number so I can’t understand why you didn’t tell me you were cold

  • "We had a fantastic week at Barnacre - the house exceeded our expectations."

The pool table was a great addition and it was lovely to see my son learn a new game and get so much better as the week progressed. The location is fantastic with some lovely country walks on the doorstep and a short drive into Morpeth and my favourite beach at Cresswell. The hosts were very quick to respond to messages when we needed help with the sky package. We are already planning a return visit! Thank you for such a fantastic week.

  • "We had a lovely stay at Barnacre with our children & grandchildren."

The house provided everything that we needed, our only gripe being the kitchen is on the small side, however the rest of the house is very spacious. The house was ideal for our 3 small grandchildren as it was all on one level and they enjoyed playing in the garden.

Few down sides, very creaky floorboards and woodlouse infestation.

  • "Another fabulous stay at Barnacre."

We love the property and the location. Plenty of room for our large family and we book the adjoining property The Granary so that our friends can come to stay too. We had our young grandchildren with us this year and found that being on one level so convenient and safe for them. They too now love the house and will no doubt look forward to our visits there as much as we do.

  • "Everything was perfect."

It’s a beautiful spacious property and very comfortable and clean. Bedrooms are large and en suite and lovely walk in showers. It’s in a quiet peaceful village and easy to access Northumberland’s coastline and visitor attractions. The only slight disadvantage it has is the small kitchen. Not room for more than 4 to sit at a table in a compact space. It also meant a walk down a corridor to carry meals down to the dining room. But overall a 5 star property..

The kitchen was well equipped, the bedding luxurious and having good internet connection and Sky TV was a bonus. The weather was awful all week so we couldn't make use of the lovely outside space. We would love to come back to this amazing property, hopefully in better weather, as Northumberland is our go to place for a summer break.

  • "We had a fabulous weekend stay at Barnacre."

The cottage was comfortable, clean and child friendly. Beds were extremely comfortable, rooms spacious apart from kitchen but a large dining area made up for this. Only small problem was the large fridge had a puddle on the floor from the freezer side which I reported after leaving. There's a private outdoor area and a spacious area at the front also. We enjoyed nearby Cresswell beach and Morpeth Coronation Fair day nearby. Thanks for a great weekend. We will definitely return.

It really feels like home from home. It is spacious enough for our large family to spread out and we love the ensuite bathrooms. It was fun to bring our grandchildren this year for the first time. Our granddaughter really enjoyed running around on the large lawn out front. The village is quiet and beautiful and yet a town is only 3 miles away with all the shopping facilities needed. We will indeed be back!

  • "Generally the accommodation was of a very high standard, and spacious."

The kitchen lacked some of the polish of the rest of the accommodation, however. There were 9 in our party (5 adults, 4 children) and the oven was inadequate. It was too small and inefficient to cook a meal for that many people. The oven was only effective at it hottest setting, and took much longer to cook than our normal electric fan oven. Also, the property needs a larger dishwasher. It was impossible to get dinner plates in the lower basket without the upper basket raised to its highest setting, which prevented that being used for side plates and dishes, or even some of the glasses. Also, filling all the available space meant that the dishwasher did not clean efffectively. The G-Tech vacuum cleaner provided was so full and clogged with hair that it did not work, and had to be emptied and the roller cleaned, so that we could use it. The property notes folder had very little information contained in it, and there was no contact number for problems. We had a small water leak in an en-suite sink but there was no guidance on how to report it. On the positive side, the availability of Sky tv in both lounges was appreciated, particularly by the children. The bedrooms were very comfortable and well appointed. We would have appreciated more and larger towels when showering, but they were adequate. The laundry facilties were good, with the large capacity washing machine and tumble dryer working well.

The oven is a conventional family size gas double oven. It is always recommended to cook on a higher temperature than a fan oven. The dishwasher was only installed the day before you arrived as a brand new replacement. The contact number is in the Sykes booking information The cleaning lady always empties the vacuum cleaner. A lot of thought and care has gone into the planning and equipping of this gorgeous property and garden. My one suggestion is for a more accessible chair in the lounge for elderly less mobile guests. Our party included three generations which were all accommodated comfortably.
