  • "We enjoyed our stay at Robin house."

Very clean and comfortable. And very good amenities. Absolutely spot on for our stay. Excellent location for exploring the local coast and countryside. We took our bikes, and so pleased we did, as there were quiet lanes to explore right from the doorstep. My wife in particular was very disappointed that the bath hot water tap refused to work. No bath for her! My wife opened the bedroom window the first night and dislodged a swallows nest. We were both very upset that it happened. On inspection in the morning it appeared that the nest fortunately was unoccupied, and was being constructed. Perhaps in the future a notice to bring people’s attention to the nests might be appropriate as there were numerous nests under the eaves, but not all visible from inside the house.

In that respect this made our holiday a really good one. However we did find the facilities to be a little tired and maybe in need of some TLC in the near future.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review Jeanette. Yes the location of Robin House is perfect for visiting Northumberland. We use the off season to decorate and upgrade our property which we did last November. We are fully booked this Summer and will certainly do our refurbishment this Autumn. We have a superb cleaner and we pride ourselves on the first rate reviews for cleanliness so I am disappointed that you didn't feel it was 100 per cent Property Owner

But a holes spoon and tongs in the kitchen would be helpful. Also a few more bits like foil and cling film would also be a help. We felt the pathways needed jet washing as it was a bit slippery when wet. Otherwise such a lovely place to stay and so comfortable.

Cleanliness was good. Garden needs attention. Kitchen appliances all good. Shower is not good on both pressure and heat settings. Bath is very deep to enter for access to shower and can be a problem for people with any mobility problems. Bottle of bubbly and chocolate is a nice touch. Position of property is good for all attractions.

Thank you for the feedback and your appreciation of the high standard of cleanliness and house facilities welcome gift of bubbly and chocolates! Parking as stated in the online house details is available at the end of the cul de sac visible from the lounge window on a first come first served basis. This is the first time in 4 years that a comment of concern about parking has been made. The garden which is mostly low maintenance to avoid untidiness will be tidied. The shower on occasion has lower water pressure due to the low pressure of water in the vicinity of the house. Property Owner

Separate toilet with no hand basin frustrating. Bed was comfortable and clean. We had to wash all cutlery before use. Nice touch of arrival present. No blinds on bedroom windows so had to keep closing curtains when in bedroom. Curtains in main bedroom so thin it was daylight at about 6.30am so no sleep after that.

Thanks for booking Robin House. Glad you liked the arrival present. All dishes and cutlery are washed in the dishwasher on a high temperature and full cycle. The furnishings are all new. Property Owner

Bamburgh offers coffee shops and it?s beautiful beach for all members of your family especially our four legged members. The beach, sand dunes and sea offer a dogs paradise. The house took a bit of finding as the sign 'Robin House' is actually on the side of the house and not at the front, which would have been easier to see. The house itself was very clean and the bed we used, in the main bedroom, was very large and comfortable. We had a bit of a problem using the shower as the temperature kept changing but we managed. We had had some difficulties with the snow and did manage to get stuck but once the AA had freed us we were so happy to be welcomed by this adorable little house! It was warm and so comfortable with everything you could possibly need. Robin House is as clean as a new pin, and very well kept. We slept very soundly in the very comfortable spacious beds and woke up to lovely views from the windows. The owners are amazingly helpful should you need any guidance for anything and very kind, We were also greeted with a bottle of wine and a box of chocolates!! We were there in February and didn't have many warm days but I can see that it will be a hot spot in the summer when you'll be able to sit outside in the garden! It is quite central to lots of places if you have a car and there are plenty of lovely walks should you be on foot. A big help for me personally was that I could take my dog too. This little village has an amazing pub The Apple that welcomes you and your dog! They have lovely meals and are very friendly. There is also a Spa, a Pizzeria and a Village Shop. We visited many places around and about ie. Bamburgh, Seahouses, Beadnell, Alnwick, Alnmouth, Amble, Craster and in all of these places found pubs and coffee shops were dog friendly. The large windows allowed us to watch mermeration of starlings most evenings if we were back at sunset. The pub in the village was clean and friendly offered a good local ale and excellent food would recommend the seafood platter. There is a lovely spa in the village but you would need to do some research before you go. It is associated with a holiday complex in the village so there are conditions to its use but needs pre booking. There is an alternative in Sea Houses with different facilities which we found very welcoming and comfortable. We visited in February so was quiet enough for us to take out time with everything we did. Would most certainly return as we all came home refreshed and content.
