  • "Lovely property in a quiet location."

  • "Sawmill Cottage was lovely, it was so spacious, it was super clean and tidy."

The welcome pack was very thoughtful. We had a bit of a hiccup with the cooker but Vicky and her husband went our of their way to order and install a new one in a few days for us, they couldn't have been more helpful. The play area was brilliant for our grandsons and the woodland walk was super thoughtout as well. We all enjoyed our holiday here, in fact our 7 year old grandson cried because he was so happy here.

  • "The location of the cottage is ideal for exploring the area from Berwick -on-Tweed down to Amble."

The cottage itself has plenty of space, certainly for 2 people. My sister and I like a double bed each and there are 2 bathrooms so we were able to do our own thing without waiting about. The manuals for the various appliances are in a drawer which is so useful. Plenty of logs for the log burner, however the cottage was so warm we did not need the burner. In fact we had to turn the radiators down. Comfortable beds and the pillows were much more comfortable than most places. Very peaceful surroundings as there are walks through the trees. Plenty of parking close to the house . Vicky has put a lot of thought into making the experience as pleasurable as possible - clear instructions on how to find the cottage, a lot of information in the info folder regarding what to do in the cottage and in the surrounding countryside. (A good stop for breakfast on departure day is Sunnyhills of Belford. Lots of tasty temptations there.) The Welcome pack was very, well..welcome with Prosecco, milk, a gorgeous lemon drizzle cake and the resident hens and ducks eggs. A very enjoyable week and I would recommend the cottage to anyone who likes peace and wide open spaces. Thank you Vicky and Simon.

  • "Sawmill Cottage is an extremely spacious and well equipped property in a delightful, peaceful location."

The owners were very helpful, accommodating an early check in request and on hand to answer any questions. The welcome pack was a very nice gesture, and much appreciated. A minor observation, which in no way detracted from our enjoyment, was the dust accumulation along skirting boards. We do intend returning to the property at some point and would certainly recommend it to potential visitors to the beautiful county of Northumberland.

The host is lovely and very helpful. We had a great stay. Unfortunately the picture of the front of the cottage is inaccurate as there is no tarmac drive at the front door, there is only a small path which limits access and also a garden fence

  • "Absolutely beautiful cottage."

Very spacious and comfortable. Has everything you need to make it home from home. Excellent location for visiting local places. So many areas just 10 mins aaay from here. The owner is very kind, friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. She lives on site but keeps out of the way but is there should you need anything. It was tastefully decorated for Christmas and we were left a lovely welcome pack. Thank you for a wonderful stay. I’d definitely recommend and stay again however not with the introduction of dogs being welcome.

  • "We had a wonderful Christmas week at Sawmill Cottage."

There is plenty of space, lots of comfortable beds and the whole cottage is finished to a high standard. I just wish we lived there! The proximity to Bamburgh Beach was also great - we had several trips there, even on the coldest and windiest of days, to build sandcastles. Our eldest also enjoyed celebrating her 8th birthday at Sawmill Cottage which was the perfect last day of our holiday there. Vicky and Steve were also really helpful whenever we needed them (there was a problem with water supply the week we were there but they provided plenty of drinking water and have subsequently been super helpful gathering and keeping to the side several bits we left behind post Christmas packing up chaos!). Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay - thank you :)

  • "The property is in a very nice rural location and as a result we were plagued by flies."

The water went off at 5pm on Sunday and did not comeback on until the following afternoon the owner did eventually bring us some water but this was really difficult as we had our 18 month grandson with us. I feel it was over priced based on other properties we have stayed with Sykes . Also a note to include that whilst it is open plan which is great in many ways this means the oven is accessible and for anyone with small children this created some challenges to try and keep them from running close to the oven.

Hi Karen, Unfortunately the water was off for all properties in the local area (around 80 properties.) from around 5pm until roughly 1pm the next day. We did our best to keep you informed and provided bottled water the following morning to help until it was restored. The bottle of Prosecco was our way of saying thanks for your patience. Thanks for the feedback on our pricing, we have had a 100% occupancy rate so far this year but we will keep it in mind. There is a 360 virtual tour on our website which shows the open plan layout of the cottage and most guests tell us they love the space. On the flies, there’s not a lot we can do about them other than suggest you keep doors and windows closed, as it is the good old British countryside Property Owner

This was a booking made for last summer that was honoured this year, and it did not disappoint! Superbly clean, beautifully kitted out and decorated, and a great location for exploring Northumberland. The playpark for the kids was an added bonus not listed on the property details, but turned out to be one of the best parts of the holiday as my kids absolutely loved it and didn't want to leave. Lovely welcome pack of cake and Prosecco, much appreciated.
