  • "Beautiful cottage , perfect rural location for a really relaxing holiday but still only a short drive to the coast, we had a wonderful week."

Would definitely stay again, the only other comment would be to say that the mattress in the end bedroom is very soft so might benefit from a new one .

We particularly enjoyed the sun trap garden outside the door and ate many meals there. The younger members of our group also enjoyed the games room. It was fantastic to rent this with The Steadings and we had a lovely family week together. Thank you so much!

  • "Lovely property really comfortable little cold in garage (Games room) but it is a garage."

Did get a very strong smell from stove when it was windy so had to shut all doors. But nothing major and would definitely love to stay again beautiful place beautiful views very relaxing. Very large too to say all on 1 floor lost my bearings a few times first day or two. We have friends in Alnwick and it's such a lovely drive to there so perfect spot to be away from hustle and bustle but close enough to enjoy everything Northumberland has to offer.

The cottage was dressed for the festive season and very welcoming with Christmas decorations, Tree and chocolate brownies as well as fresh milk. We had fantastic support to any questions we made. Nothing was a problem. We will most definitely plan to visit again next year should the Cottage be available. A wonderful cottage in wonderful surroundings.

  • "This is a good, warm, clean property in a pleasant location with a great view."

The property is very spacious with lots of storage. Mattress was a bit firm for my taste. Some decoration is a bit tired and some more up to date instructions especially re the heating would have been appreciated. Freezer was turned down very low, which we didn't notice until food had thawed. Had to ask for more toilet rolls on first weekend. Pool table and table football were fun but very cold in the garage.

  • "Lovely cottage and outstanding location, views from the sitting room window are spectacular."

The bottle of milk and chocolate brownies were a nice thought. Cottage could do with a general update as some areas tired and dated but didn't spoil our stay. The towels were the only real drawback as they had a stale water odour but a quick wash rectified that. The cottage had the same odour in the passage near the locked door for a few days. Games room was a big hit especially the pool table.

Beautiful views, very comfortable beds and living room sofas. Everything you need in the kitchen is provided and washing facilities and dishwasher a bonus. Unfortunately our car broke down but owners were very helpful and on hand to answer our questions. Would highly recommend booking this property and look forward to returning in the future.

The views from the lounge and the outside area were just stunning as was the whole of the area we covered. The cottage is very spacious and the area eerily quiet and peaceful, only sound is the birds, sheep and cows. Don’t think we saw one car drive past during our week. Lovely touch of brownies and raw cows milk left from the owner who introduced herself to us on arrival. You have your own drive way with a walled garden and closing gate so our well behaved dogs were safe to play outside. I would highly recommend this place.

  • "We had a great time and the cottage was spacious, clean and well equipped."

We received a lovely welcome as well as a huge bottle of milk and some scrumptious brownies. There was plenty of space, it was peaceful, unless birds, owls, farm animals and vehicles frustrate you! But they didn't bother us at all, we expect this in the country and it makes a nice change to wake up to the sounds of nature, etc. If you step out the back at dusk you can see the bats flitting about Coquet Cottage was very warm, we visited at the start of what appears to have been a mini heat wave, which did make it hard to get to sleep and unfortunately I found the bed a little hard, but you cannot please everyone all of the time, my partner and I swapped sides and strangely I was a bit more comfortable. The only other comment would be some sharper knives for food prep would be really helpful. All said, we really liked the cottage, the surroundings and would definitely recommend. Just wish the week hadn't gone so quick!

All one level perfect for 91 year old dad. Facilities were awesome, beautiful views, so clean too. The boiler was awesome, chucking out heat all the time and easily regulated temp by opening top windows and removing jumpers when warm. Induction hob, oven and grill, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble drier, TV that can connect to internet for Netflix and Amazon prime if that floats your boat. Beautiful village in rothbury. I will be back for sure

  • "The boiler was ridiculous as it could not be switched of in the living room making it to warm to sit in a lot of the time and there was a note saying we would be charged £25 if it was turned down, we spoke to the owner and she said to open the windows which was not possible as they had been painted shut."

It said an enclosed garden which was very important as we had a new puppy but on two occasions the gates were opened which could have been deadly for our dog if she had gotten out. We were also given 2 different arrival times and 3 departure times ranging from 9am to 12pm. It is the first time we have given negative feedback and we have been to many Sykes properties but we feel it is important to let people know what to expect.
