  • "Gorgeous cosy cottage in the heart of Longframlington."

Perfect location for exploring Northumberland. The cottage is beautifully decorated and very well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Cute little back yard provides outdoor space. Very friendly village with great facilities - two pubs where you can eat, artisan cafe and bakery and lovely park. Highly recommended.

  • "Cosy cottage with character, conveniently situated between Alnwick and Rothbury."

Very well equipped kitchen although the kitchen scales weren't working! Plenty of hanging space in the master bedroom, which is a generous size. Small chest of drawers would be beneficial in the twin room. No problem with parking as there was always space on the pavement 100 yards or so from the property. Cottage is located on a main A road, which seems at its busiest in the early morning. By the evening it seems strangely deserted. Lovely local shops/pubs/cafe where you are assured of a warm welcome. Fabulous dark night skies for star-gazers up on the moors.

  • "Such a well looked after, modern little house."

Felt instantly comfortable and relaxed on arrival and able to begin our little break. I took my own deep oven dishes which meant we could have a Roast Beef sunday dinner, however missed my mashed potatoes as there's no masher. I don't know if it's through time and amount of use from others but there seems to be an odd variety of dinner knives and twice as many forks. That's not a compliant just advice to the owners might need a new set.

  • "We had a lovely stay at Edendale."

The owner had left a lovely welcome pack, which was very much appreciated. The beds were comfortable with crisp, clean linen. Clean towels were also provided. The 3/4 for maintenance and cleanliness, related to a constantly dripping kitchen tap and windows that needing cleaning, as did the glass canopy in the back courtyard. Sadly, the ‘kerb appeal’ was lacking as the front entrance needed sweeping and cleaning. We appreciated the property was on a main road, but it’s these details that are relevant we feel. Having said the above, we would certainly rebook the accommodation should we ever visit the area again. It was very convenient for travelling to tourist attractions, and the village had all one needed, i.e butchers, convenience store, bakery and two pubs; both of which served food. S&D

  • "We’ve had a lovely week’s stay in Eden Dale, Framlington."

The cottage itself is well furnished, plenty of seating and very comfortable beds. It was clean and well cared for. We had everything we needed for the week and it provided a great base to explore the area. We were worried about parking initially but this was no problem, even with 2 cars. One thing to note is that the road is very busy and lorries and farm machinery pass frequently. This wasn’t a problem for us at night and it didn’t affect our sleep. The dog treats and towels mentioned in the info pack were not available (we didn’t need them but worth mentioning as we looked everywhere)! The yard is a great little space and the dogs did wee and poo in it - it would be useful to provide a hose on the outside tap just to wash anything away to prevent smelling (there is a watering can that was full so I used that, but a hose would have given a bit more pressure). Finally, and perhaps the biggest drawback for us is that the property is damp. We holidayed in August and it was a fairly dry week; however our clothes and bedding felt clammy throughout. A small dehumidifier is available and it collected a fair amount of moisture but not enough to prevent the problem.

Hard to find any other words, but we'll give it a go! The photographs actually didn't do this cottage justice. What a stunning property - beautifully decorated with outstanding attention to detail, the cottage had a really calm and relaxing vibe about it, and the courtyard is a little suntrap. We arrived to scented candles, soft Classic FM wafting in from the little radio in the kitchen, and a really thoughtful and generous welcome basket of goodies. You can tell that this was once a much-loved family home - you can feel it, and the owners clearly take a great deal of pride and care with it. We've used Sykes for years, and this is one of the best cottages we've found. Can't recommend highly enough. Thank you for such a wonderful week.

It is spotlessly clean, well equipped and comfortable. Just one minor issue with the gas bottles was sorted straight away by the friendly owner. No issues with the on the street parking. The only minor disappointments were the two pubs (Granby is dog unfriendly and Village has poor beer choice and both are expensive) however this is no reflection on the accommodation and we would stay there again in a heartbeat.

So homely and comfortable. And the hosts went above and beyond to make it a wonderful stay. They’d turned on the lights and the radio so that when we got there it was lovely and cozy. They’d asked if we wanted red or white wine and I’d said not to worry because we don’t drink and they’d gone out of their way to provide non-alcoholic fizz along with bread and cheese and grapes. That’s so thoughtful and lovely! There’s all you could need in the kitchen by way of utensils and pans and even cling film and foil etc. Such a well stocked house. The sofas and beds were very comfortable and it was warm and cozy. The bathroom is lovely. Everything is just exactly as you’d want it on holiday. • "The cottage was immaculate inside when we arrived."

It appeared to have been newly decorated throughout, the beds were very comfortable with high quality linen. It is situated on the main road with the advantage of an excellent pub restaurant immediately opposite as well as a really good café/coffee shop and village store within a short distance. However, there is only a narrow pavement and there is inevitable traffic noise. There is full central heating and a log burning stove but we found the bedrooms became very warm. On our arrival there were no instructions or information sheets at all. This meant we had to find things such as the wi-fi password on the router or the heating controls for ourselves. Much more detail would be very helpful. The kitchen is generally well-equipped but the pans are all large and heavy so need some trial and error on older electric hobs. The oven grill was very weak and strangely there was no grill pan or ovenware other than a large casserole dish. The location is convenient for both the stunning Northumberland coast or inland attractions.

Our main problem was trying to get the oven/stove to work. Which we failed to do. Nothing wrong with the oven I believe, but an issue re setting the oven clock to get the thing to work. Never managed to figure this out and the instructions in the cottage information book was confusing. Unfortunately the landlady was away for a couple of days and then we were out a lot, so we went able to meet so she could she us what to do (she did offer). The Granby pub directly opposite the cottage is ok, feel a good pint, though we were disappointed with the limited range of takeaway options, with rather strange options for pizza. Oh and the key box, is a box that contains the house key, it is not an electronic system to unlock the door as we originally thought! Otherwise we had a lovely time
