  • "The situation near best beach and spaciousness of house excellent."

The pool is a big draw too. However there are serious down sides to our experience. The bedding had winter duvets, when I enquired there was no recourse to having a blanket and sheet or summer covering. The down stairs bedroom has large windows with such thin curtains that the baby was unable to sleep there. Please provide blinds . The house is advertised as catering for 6 . The largest pan and frying pans were too small to cook easily . These are expensive properties and our 2nd visit back to my childhood home, A few improvements would have allowed everyone have good sleep. On the positive side Allan quickly got our boiler fixed after having no gas and hot water for a day.

We have brought your review to the owners attention about the curtains being too thin. We do have summer duvets that you could have used during your stay. The pans have been changed now Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely week staying at Stable D’Or in Embleton."

Our cottage was perfect & exactly how it was listed. We had a few starter items in the kitchen on our arrival; milk, butter, juice & bread - a nice touch. Everywhere was clean, tidy & up-to date. The site was smart, tidy & the children’s play area was great. The swimming pool was brilliant, modern & clean. Just a generally great holiday let & site, close the village of Embleton with a good village shop. Thank you for a memorable first holiday to Northumberland, we will definitely stay here again.

Thank you so much for your kind comments and your feedback. We are pleased that you enjoyed your first visit to us and the area. Looking forward to welcoming you back soon Property Owner

  • "Having our accommodation cancelled at the last minute because of flooding, we were a little apprehensive about its replacement, Stable D’or."

However it turned out to be perfect for our group of four adults. It was warm, comfortable and well equipped. We particularly appreciated its position, its view and the walk across the fields to the beach. We greatly enjoyed our holiday and visited many of the delights of Northumberland within either walking distance or a short drive, including Lindisfarne and the Farne Islands. Large towels for every room and blackout curtains for the main bedroom would have been appreciated but these are minor observations. Overall, Stable D’or exceeded our expectations and thoroughly deserves 5 stars!

We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us and were pleased with it since it was a replacement for your original booking with another company. Property Owner

  • "The property was was excellent except for one or 2 exceptions."

The 2 steps leading up to the living room and bathroom are still dangerous in spite of the strip across the top. It needs another strip on the bottom step as when you come back down because all the flooring is the same colour it is blind . The side table lamps in the bedrooms are exactly that and not reading lights and so I had to keep on the main lights to read. The top bedroom doesnt have an accessible mirror . Everything else was perfect and a Thankyou for the items that were left for us to enjoy

Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased you enjoyed the welcome pack. Property Owner

We thought that the location was perfect. We loved walking to the beach and the tranquility of the surrounding area. The pool was an amazing facility. We enjoyed visiting Edinburgh, Cragside, Seahouses, Craster and relaxing at Low Newton. We need to come back to explore more of Northumberland, a week wasn't enough. Idyllic!

We appreciate your feedback and we are happy you enjoyed your stay with us. Hopefully we will be welcoming you back soon so you can enjoy more of our beautiful area. Property Owner

  • "Fantastic week had at this property."

Everything we could have thought of we had. Incredible place to explore Northumberland. Had an issue with a shower which was looked at straight away. People had thought really hard about us taking a little one and provided a stair gate aswell as a high chair which we could use. The property its self was clean on arrival and perfect for the family we had with us. Have booked again for February.

Thank you for your lovely feedback and we hope you enjoy your next visit with us. Property Owner

  • "Lovely property which met all our expectations."

The property was beautifully decorated and maintained and of the highest quality. The location was second to none and we even managed to spot dolphins from the living room window with binoculars. Fab! Feeding the ducks every day was fun with our grandson. Swimming pool was excellent although booking system was a little ad hoc. Overall we had an great stay.

We are pleased you enjoyed our beautiful location and cottage. Thank you for your feedback Property Owner

  • "Beautiful property and space."

No alternative to a hot duvet, on a warm Northumbrian week. If you are trying to be environmentally friendly maybe less grass mowing and weed killers and more allowing the wild flowers to grow.

Thank you for your feedback. We do have some summer duvets if needed. Property Owner

  • "We had a wonderful holiday thank you!"

The only feedback I have is that the curtains need black out lining it was so bright and woke everyone early in the morning. It was also tricky to get swimming spots, people had not stuck to the rules! Only through asking a member of staff were we able to get a morning slot. Thanks would defo book again!

Thank you for your feedback. We do ask our guests not to choose the same time slots during their stay. We recommend that they choose a variety of times to make it fair for all our guests. Looking forward to seeing you again. Property Owner

  • "Grateful that an early check in granted for a vulnerable adult in our party."

Would have appreciated more mugs etc as we had to put dishwasher on frequently to accommodate. Also only enough logs to light the log burner on one evening for a week’s seemed ungenerous , though the property was warm with central heating would have preferred to switch heating down and enjoy the burner . The one thing which did cause major issues was that the soundproofing was poor : the main bedroom downstairs was lovely and spacious ,but sleep was disturbed as could even hear people turning over in bed in the bedroom upstairs ,not to mention footfall going to bathroom !

  • "Great cottage, very well brought together."

Excellent facilities, would easily recommend. Factual inaccuracies. This property is NOT 20mins walk to beach. Bigger mugs would be perfect. Mattress cover as a plastic sheet is sweaty, something better would be in line with a high spec cottage. Thank you for looking after us, we will be back.

  • "Lovely cottage in a gorgeous spot."

Well equipped and the beead, mik etc on arrival was a nice touch. The pool booking system really spoilt our holiday unfortunately as all the morning slots were taken for the week by the time we got there so we could only get middle of the day meaning planning a day out wasn't possible. Also 5 x 1hr slots doesn't feel much when you've paid such a lot. Also the check in and out times were quite unreasonable at 5pm and 9.30am. Much more used to around a 3pm check in and 10/11am check out which would have felt more fair given the price we paid.

  • "A really lovely cottage."

Very well equipped and extremely comfortable. The swimming pool was much appreciated and it was always warm and clean. The walk to Embleton bay is a good 20 minutes but worth the effort. This is a great base to enjoy this part of Northumberland.

  • "Lovely cottage and wonderful pool."

Great location. Responded well to issues. It would be helpful to say bring matches for the stove. We nearly slipped and fell over on a patch of the living room floor that was very slippery. No kitchen essentials not even salt and pepper. Kit very small for 6 people. They need to think about large baking dishes/pans. It's a bit much asking people to fill the dishwasher, strip the beds and dispose of all rubbish before 9.30am. And to arrive after 4pm. We've paid for the day and just got the evening. When we found the recycling there were no facilities for paper and card. This would have been useful info.

  • "Would definitely recommend this holiday accommodation to families and couples alike, wonderful place, and now you get the pool to yourselves for an hour I would say its even better."

Tho most of the cottages were booked you hardly ever saw anyone so lovely and peaceful. The walk down to the beach is beautiful but whoever said it was 10 minutes is really exaggerating, its at least 30 minutes and could be tricky with a pushchair if its not good weather, but totally worth it. The only little niggles were that the dining chairs were very uncomfortable most of them felt like you were dropping through them and could do with replacing and the two double beds are as hard as iron and very creaky and could do with replacing. Having said that, will definitely be back as we had a fantastic experience and the location is fabulous and well done on making us feel really safe on the first week back for you after lockdown, your staff are to be congratulated.
