  • "Excellent holiday you could not ask for more ."

Swimming Hot tub peaceful good location

  • "Excellent property all round, in good position for visiting other places."

Swimming pool fabulous, loved having sessions on our own, salt water chlorination so much gentler on skin. Only negative for us was that cars were parked too close to the bottom of our ramp preventing our car from being able to pick me up there so I had to use the steps, I think they were from The Retreat. They said they had to park there so as not to narrow up the gate.

I'm pleased you enjoyed your stay at Whinny. Thank you for your valuable feedback about the parking, there is ample parking opposite Whinny as such we will be putting a disabled parking only sign up by the ramp. Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage but 4 people and only 1 bathroom not enough."

Only1 useable mirror in bathroom. 2 very small mirrors nailed too high to see in in bedrooms. Good welcome foods. I tried to use pool but the vertical steps too challenging as I have arthritis . Would have loved to swim. A staggered step or ramp with handrail would make pool accessible to less able . My family enjoyed pool and hot tub .

  • "We had a really lovely holiday at Whinny Cottage."

The cottage is well equipped and well appointed and a perfect location for exploring the Northumberland coast. The swimming pool and hot tub were an attraction of the location, and we made good use of both. The cottage has everything you need, but would agree with previous comments that the small mirrors in the bedrooms were too high up. The bedrooms did get stuffy at night because the windows are side opening and so we didn't want to leave them open other than on the latches overnight. The cottage would benefit from a larger and more robust clothes airer, particularly when there are multiple towels and swimming costumes to dry and the weather is too wet to get them out on the line (although the heated towel rail in the bathroom was very welcome). Overall we had a great time at North Farm Cottages which were quiet and secluded but with good access to the beach and to the village of Embleton.

  • "We were very impressed with the cottage, with the ciews and the upkeepnof thw propery."

The only thing missing was having a long mirror in the bedrooms. The round mirrors were too high up for me and my mother-in-law to see in.

Thank you for your feedback Property Owner

About the location

EMBLETON

Craster 3 miles; Beadnell 4 miles; Alnwick 7 miles.

The pretty village of Embleton is ideally placed for exploring one of the most attractive stretches of Northumberland's Heritage Coastline. A beautiful grassy path runs from the village to neighbouring Craster, alongside the sea and past Dunstanburgh Castle - the largest ruined castle in Northumberland. Embleton itself has a village pub and a local hotel, and there is an excellent range of amenities in nearby Alnwick. The gardens at nearby Howick Hall are open during the summer and are noted for their beauty, whilst Alnwick Castle and Garden are a 'must-see' when visiting the area. For the keen golfer, Dunstanburgh Links Course is about 1 mile away - just one of several excellent courses in the vicinity.
