  • "We had a very comfortable stay at Todridge farm, the cottage is well equipped very clean, quiet and peaceful."

The location is also very good with easy access to the lovely city of Newcastle being only 30 minutes drive away and the remote countryside is equally as close , this is a great base for a lovely holiday.

The barn has a comfortable living room, a well stocked kitchen and three bedrooms all of which are en-suite. The welcome basket was much appreciated and the binder with instructions, maps and details for lots of places of interest was helpful.

  • "Good location and comfortable beds."

Lack of a garden to sit in, when plenty of scope to create one was disappointing. Living area surprisingly dark. The opaque glass in front door and at top of stairs created an oppressive environment. Cleanliness in kitchen could have been a lot better. Eg filthy old bread bin, stained dishcloths and a manky washing up brush. The welcome basket consisting of crackers, maltesers and cheap Proseco did not really achieve the feeling of being welcomed.

Thank you for your feedback. I don’t agree with your points made other than the opaque glass in the front door which I’m in the process of changing. You are my first guest to complain on receiving a welcome pack, most people are grateful. Kind regards Camilla Property Owner

We arrived in the dark which meant the next morning we were welcomed with wonderful views all around. The location for us was brilliant, quiet & peaceful which we & our border collie loved. He settled in the cottage really well. The cottage itself is fantastic, the photos look good but the reality is even more wow! Everything you need is there & the showers are fab! The only downside for us was, we were only there for a weekend. We could have done with longer to truly enjoy the cottage & area to its fullest.

Thank you for your really lovely feedback. I hope the birthday celebrations were a success and come back anytime! Kind regards Camilla Property Owner

The owner is super helpful and really goes the extra mile to make your stay perfect. I brought my younger son and my dog and we had the best time exploring this beautiful part of the UK and then returning to the barn, lighting a fire, watching a movie and cooking dinner. • "A really comfortable base for exploring Northumberland."

Lovely and quiet, a couple of miles down single track roads. Our group consisted of 3 friends so it was great we each had a double/ king sized room with en-suite, and having the downstairs area as open plan made it great for socialising. A larger tv is really needed for the size of the room, and some proper storage for clothes in the bedrooms would be a nice addition. We all agreed we would be happy to book the barn again, and one of us has already started making plans to return with husband and dogs!

Thank you for your lovely feedback. We have since put a 42 inch flat screen in the barn. We look forward to your return visit! Property Owner

  • "The location of Todridge Barn is great for local walks and scenery, particularly if you have a dog."

It is also conveniently not far from the Vallum Farm wedding venue. It was good to have 3 en-suite bedrooms with very comfortable beds, but we found the single downstairs room very compact for our party of 4 adults, a baby and a dog (the area downstairs is smaller than upstairs). The kitchen is well equipped for cooking but the fridge is very small and there was no empty cupboard space for us to store our food. The owner very helpfully provided baby equipment with linen as well as a thoughtful welcome basket.

  • "The Barn is beautifully finished and we loved the remote location."

The downstairs space is very snug for 6 people and if it had been wet we would have struggled with storage for boots and coats etc. Just enough space for one dog crate. Camilla responded to queries very quickly and we enjoyed the contents of the welcome basket.

I wish you'd asked as the barn/stables directly opposite the property are empty and I'm happy for guests to use! Property Owner

  • "Cottage & location overall pretty good."

Unfortunately and rather disappointedly we all found the beds to be very uncomfortable and could all feel the springs on the mattresses which made a noise and clanged every time you moved or turned over. Not sure if it was a mattress protector on our bed or an insufficient mattress topper. Was surprised that there were no pillow protectors provided either. Shame because the bed linen was good quality. The beds don’t appear to be old just poor quality and not what you’d expect for the cost of the accommodation. Think this needs addressing or perhaps decent thick mattress toppers would significantly help. Bedrooms very dark in the day with limited natural light. So better/stronger lighting in each room would improve this. The television in the lounge was far too small for the size of the room.

Thank you for your feedback, we are glad to hear that you liked accommodation. We are however sorry to hear that you did not find the beds comfortable, all the beds are brand new, and all have mattress toppers and protectors, comfort is subjective, however I will be speaking to the company who provides them for hotels and see what they say. With regards to the bedrooms, there are sky lights in each room that needs to be opened to provide natural light as instructed in the welcome pack. We hope to see you again soon. UPDATE: All mattresses have been replaced and the previous TV has been replaced with a new, 42-inch flat-screen TV. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely holiday in Todridge Barn and would thoroughly recommend it as a comfortable and welcoming place to stay."

Camilla was an efficient and friendly host and was very keen to help out with any queries. She provided a generous welcome basket of goodies when we arrived, which we really appreciated. The Barn was thoughtfully equipped with absolutely everything we needed, even including games; for example, we enjoyed several sessions of Articulate in front of a roaring log fire, all provided courtesy of the owners. Each of us had an en suite shower room and all the bedrooms were tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. The surrounding countryside is stunning and the Barn is located in a peaceful spot, well away from main roads or villages. There is plenty to do in the area, and we ventured further afield too - to Alnwick Castle, Bamburgh Castle and a trip to Lindisfarne from Seahouses. If you are interested in Hadrian's Wall, Todridge Barn is definitely the place to be, as there are many Roman sites within an easy distance. We also had several meals out in Corbridge and Hexham, where there seems to be an abundance of excellent places to eat. We would definitely go back there again!
