  • "The cottage was very clean and warm on our arrival."

Directions to find the cottage were very clear and we found it without any problem. The milk and biscuits were very welcome Bed was very comfortable and the cottage was very spacious for two of us The kitchen was well equipped and I am grateful to Janice for letting me borrow her slow cooker ! The views are stunning and we had a range of weather to enjoy them ! We were able to sit in the garden on one sunny afternoon and watch the birds feeding .We opted to leave our car in the free car park in Rothbury and catch the bus to various places which was great as the buses were regular and fairly punctual ! We don't tend to return to properties as we have seen most of the area but will definitely be recommending the cottage to friends and family and if we do return to Rothbury then we would book again.

Where you’ll be staying

ROTHBURY

Alnwick 11.8 miles; Alnmouth 16.1 miles; Morpeth 17.3 miles.

The capital of Coquetdale, Rothbury lies on the north bank of the famous salmon and trout river, the Coquet, and is dominated by the heather clad Simonside Hills. It is an attractive, small market town and its proximity to Northumberland’s National Park ensures excellent local walking. Stone houses, typical of the region, line the town’s steep main streets and there is a good range of shops on offer. With a golf course, public tennis courts and cycle hire close by and a variety of great houses and gardens to explore, including Cragside, Alnwick Castle (home of the Duke of Northumberland), Wallington Hall and a host of famous castles, this great location has plenty to offer. Hadrian’s Wall, Kielder Reservoir and Forest and the sandy beaches and dunes of the coast are also within easy driving distance.
