  • "The cottage is fantastic and perfect for our group of 6-8."

All the rooms are spacious and comfortable and the location is perfect for Northumberland. The kitchen was our main area for gatherings with a huge table. The lounge was spacious but also had a cosy feel. The bedrooms were lovely and with additional storage on the landing which is a great use of space. Our constructive criticism would be that the showers in the en suites need attention. They are temperamental with both switching off at times, although we had been forewarned. As with previous comments, a must in the kitchen is a larger or additional toaster. 2 slices at a time is just not sufficient for the house size. An air fryer may also be an option as the aga style cooker is not for everyone due to the time taken to heat up. We would also recommend new pillows AND pillow protectors and possibly a new mattress on the single bed closest to the door. Also for information, each bin is collected fortnightly on Mondays. We put the black one out on Sunday night but it was full to the brim when we arrived as was the recycling one so maybe extra black bags to allow for this? However, and we stress this. These issues are minor compared to the benefits of this beautiful cottage and we would return to this property the next time we visit this area.

  • "Calm Skies is a beautiful house, plenty of room for five adults and our dog."

This is our second visit to Calm Skies. We were greeted to a lovely welcome gift consisting of Prosecco, crisps and chocolate cookies. There was also a carton of milk in the fridge so we could have a cuppa when we arrived. The house is very nicely situated close to the town of Berwick-upon-Tweed and a very short drive to Holy Island, Bamburgh and Seahouses. Calm Skies is in among residential properties but is a very quiet area and the neighbours were very friendly. The house is very comfortable and clean and has all the amenities that you could wish for. The garden is private and has a number of sitting areas with table and chairs provided. I would have no hesitation in recommending Calm Skies to other visitors and will certainly go back again.

Big bedrooms, well equipped kitchen, comfortable lounge, decent outdoor space and plenty of parking. Quiet location but easy access into Berwick and A1.

  • "Property gorgeous."

Couple of minor issues. Shower in master bedroom did not work. Contacted owner who asked us to reset fuse in fusebox - this worked. However, the same problem recurred the following day. We were only there for three days therefore not really inconvenienced, but it requires a permanent fux otherwise customers on a longer stay may get cracked off. Other minor issue - toaster only toasts two slices of bread at a time - insufficient for eight people - suggest a four ‘slice’ toaster would be more useful. Other than that great time was had by one and all. Oh! Sorry one more whinge - only one small glass for drinking spirits from. Could do with a few more. Regards Brian Holcroft

No pizza dish. 2 slice toaster. No strainer for rice and pasta. Sitting room very dark needs light colours on walls. Overall though a beautiful house.

  • "We loved our stay at Calm Skies."

It was a perfect size for two families of four. A spacious house decorated beautifully all throughout to a high end level. We had everything we needed. Any issue or query we could contact the owner direct. The area is quiet and peaceful. Whilst the house is situated on a courtyard with other houses, we felt like we were the only ones there. The house head in the countryside but it was close enough to amenities in Berwick-upon-tweed and other places of interest. It was a great base for exploring Northumberland and the Borders. I would highly recommend this property.

Spacious, well-equipped and clean. The extra effort of making the cottage a "home from home" really stands out. The attention to detail in all of the rooms is so evident and really adds to the overall comfort.

Wonderful location. We loved the big warm kitchen with the ever hot cooker. We liked the layout. We think that the drawers in the kitchen may need a bit of attention. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

  • "This is a very spacious property, which was great for our party of 7 which included children."

There were secure garden areas where the children could play safely. It was well decorated but we would have preferred a lighter colour scheme in the lounge, which was a little dark. The layout of the kitchen provided plenty of workspace for preparing and serving food. The kitchen was also well equipped though we could have done without some of the unnecessary 'clutter' in the cupboards. We enjoyed our week at Calm Skies and would choose it again if holidaying in the area.

  • "Beautiful house with lots of room for everyone to move around in."

Loved the large kitchen/diner, only downside was the cooker. We couldn’t quite get the hang of the cooker and on occasions used the microwave instead. This wouldn’t put us off though. The house is in a great location, great for exploring and visiting Bamburgh, Holy Island and Berwick too. We also had brilliant weather which made sitting in the garden a joy. The neighbours are also very friendly. A welcome pack would be an ideal addition, something to think about maybe! We had a great time at Calm Skies and would love to come back.

For those staying a week we always supply a welcome pack . Glad you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

  • "Lovely house, plenty of room for everyone, great having as many bathrooms, kitchen is a great size."

Ideal location for travelling to different places, and a lovely enclosed garden to sit out in, great for the dog too. We would of giving this holiday home 5 stars, but a wee bit tweaking would make it perfect. Cleaning could be better, skirting boards were needing a dust, long hair stuck in plug hole in one of the en-suite’s, bannister on the stairs was needing a wipe, and kitchen units were needing a wipe out. A lot of the dishes were either chipped or cracked, and garden furniture could do with being stained again. Hope you don’t think we are being picky, as we all throughly enjoyed our stay, and hope you take our comments, to make this accommodation the 5 star it deserves.

Have past comments to our cleaner to check. Only a couple of chips in plates etc and will replace. Garden furniture is a matter of taste. We like the look the of the furniture so have not stained it again. But everyone has a preference. Glad you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

Decorated beautifully! Loved the huge kitchen diner which we spent majority of our time in! Feel like the study room could be put to better use, maybe a games room with a pool table as was just used as a storage room while we were there! Could do with a mirror in twin room also. Lots of games which kept us entertained! Maybe a small welcome pack would of been nice also. Good communication with owner. Would stay again.

  • "A stunning, high end decor property, beautiful furnishings and fittings."

.could live there .its extremely spacious, Garden self contained for dogs , property in a quiet area , 5 mins to Berwick approx 10-15 to holy island. 25 mins Bamburgh, 20 Alnwick.. so its ideal for sight seeing. Warm property , if cold heats quickly, great showers and soft towels.. If you think your missing wardrobes in middle two rooms, there's huge wardrobe storage cupboards on the landing too. In general well equipped, would benefit from more pans / frying pans, there was not one , and needs clean good condition baking trays ,they weren't really good to use.. Also take washing up liquid and hand soap, there was none. Also a dressing table or two in a few rooms would make it perfect, Thanks for the welcome goodies, will definitely return.

Thankyou for the positive feedback. Our changeover team should have replaced the liquid soap and hand soap so we will contact them to double check. We will add some additional baking trays and a frying pan. There are multiple pans already , but we will endeavour to expand the range. Property Owner
