  • "Great Position in Seahouses."

3 pubs withing 2 min walk property is warm and welcoming with all appliances needed. Parking is a real problem, to find a note with 'Parking for one small car...' was poor we parked within 2 inches of the house and wall which only just allowed neighbours access to their gate (Should they have a gate?) normally would have had to reverse car out of very tight back alley, luckily car out back was gone so enabled us to quickly reverse round onto their property to turn our car round. Every other property seems to have a designated space why not this one? Minor things - Paper thin walls & floors offered no sound barrier & pine in living room and bedrooms was tacky (just my opinion) Stonework was nice. All in All if parking was sorted we would be happy to return regulally!

Sorry he didn’t like the pine. Arghh - parking! Unfortunately, we can’t mark out the parking space because it’s on gravel. If you back around and get as close to house as you can you’ll be fine. Neighbors back in so there’s access. The alternative is to park in the car park or street parking. Sykes office can assist with information on tokens. On the thin walls comment - the original house built in the 1800’s has very thick walls. The add on in the 1970’s has thinner walls. Property Owner

  • "The property itself was beautiful and very comfortable."

It was in a great location and had everything we needed for a week stay. The only slight niggle was the parking. The property was advertised as having a designated parking space but there’s no information about where this is. On arrival I reversed around the back of the property and was met with multiple signs (presumably put up by the neighbour) all of which giving instruction on where not to and how not to park. These signs actually made things more confusing. It would have been helpful to have a little sign from the cottage themselves indicating where to park and actually putting the information in the guest book or on the email with key safe code etc. I saw on a previous review online where the owner of the cottage had responded to a comment about parking by saying that information for parking was in the guest booklet but it actually isn’t. I picked this particular cottage on this occasion because it had a parking space as I was on holiday with my elderly mother who would struggle with walking too far. I expected the space to be small but I was surprised that even my Mini just fit within the space. Overall, we had a lovely week at the cottage and I would definitely book again regardless of the small space to park in.

Thank you for your feedback and I’m glad you enjoyed your stay - even with the parking issues. I will update the guest book. Instructions used to be in there and I assumed they still were but I know the book has been periodically amended. To assist others - the small space is against the back wall under the breakfast room window leaving a space for people to go in and out of the gate. The key is backing around and not blocking the neighbor’s driveway behind us. Our neighbors have always been very helpful but the house directly behind us recently sold and the new neighbor has apparently put up signs so people don’t park along her fence. I will take a look when I’m there and see if I can provide more guidance for our space and explanation of her signs. Property Owner

  • "Beautiful cottage in great location ruined by the neighbour."

The cottage has shared parking at the rear. We have not even got out of the car when the rear neighbour was out berating us about where we can park and even threatening to damage our car to get hers out if we were not far enough over. Created a very bad atmosphere for our whole break. My advise would be don’t book unless you are in a fiat 500

I’m sorry you had an unpleasant encounter with a neighbour. To clarify, parking is not shared. Hares Form has a designated parking space in the rear against the wall of the house. It is marked in the guest booklet and the descriptions says “one small car”. I’ve seen people manage to get large cars back there but it is tight. Our neighbours are extremely cooperative when it comes to the space back there which is limited. Again, apologies that you apparently had an unpleasant encounter as that type of incident has never been reported before. Property Owner

  • "We had a fabulous stay and found the property to be fully equipped and perfectly located."

We will be back! The parking spot, although easy to reverse in, was mainly occupied by the house opposite. It didn't bother us though as we were able to park a short walk away.

  • "Loved the cottage BUT 1."

The 2 double mattresses were both very uncomfortable and left us both with backaches 2. Parking not only was difficult, but twice we were blocked in by a large van from the neighbour opposite at the rear - with the 4x dogs. We got the impression that they didn't like visitors. Also, anyone with a larger than average car would really struggle to park. There appears to be nowhere else to park. 3. A small quibble - the key safe is at the front of the house, not the rear. 4. A suggestion. You really need to mention the nearby Black Swan - expensive but stunning food.

I am so sorry about the mattresses. Brand new this year. John Lewis middle of the road (not cheapest!) - very disappointing. They will both be replaced! Parking - there’s construction work going on at the house behind us. Sold about a year ago. I’ll mention the lock box issue! And The Swan. Property Owner

  • "We had a wonderful stay and would happily stay at Hares Form again."

The cottage is spacious, clean and well equipped. It's easy to say how wonderful the place was, but I'll list my very minor gripes (these are documented in other people's reviews) 1. The mattress in the main bedroom is very lumpy, although I slept like a log due to all the walking we did. The mattress has a lovely topper on it but the main mattress I'd suggest is "budget" quality, but this does not reflect on the rest of the property. 2. The sofas are not the comfiest either... they are shiny brown leather with a low back, so you end up slipping down almost horizontally. Again, it's a minor point. 3. Car parking... you need to be able to reverse a car around a tight short lane. Other properties share this lane, and once other cars are parked it becomes tight. One day, we were blocked in due to the poor standard of parking by others. Again, don't let this put you off as parking is readily available just a short walk away.

Glad you enjoyed your stay! Mattress - brand new earlier this year. Actually not a budget one! We t middle of the road model with good comments from John Lewis customers!! Will definitely be replaced. Very unhappy that guests uncomfortable - apologies again! Parking - can definitely be a bit of a challenge. Some work going on at house behind but neighbors aways move cars and always help when needed. Property Owner

It had everything we needed, very welcoming it really was "home from home" Lovely and clean, stacks of hot water, comfy beds and lovely bedding. Close to everything but lovely and quiet. We had no problem parking, it is a bit tight but not an issue. Would recommend and will definitely be booking again.

  • "Hi we enjoyed our short stay, however it MUST be highlighted how tight and difficult the parking is for 1 car."

We didnt expect how tight it was and we have a small car, plus other people parking in the lane made parking there almost impossible. (Maybe better signs) The main bedroom bed needs a new mattress it was the worst mattress we have ever slept on. If these details were attended to we would definitely rebook.

Cottage brochure advises one small car for parking although neighbors have had a Range Rover back there. I’ve also had full size sedan back there. Reverse in so easier out. Mattresses are brand new! Property Owner

  • "Hare's Form is an absolutely beautiful, cosy cottage."

From the moment we walked in we felt at home. I really liked the decor and the furnishings, at the same time modern and homely. The window in between the kitchen and the living room was especially charming, as were the stone walls. We didn't use the log burner (we are incompetent townies!) but I can imagine it makes it absolutely gorgeous when it's on. The positioning of the cottage also excellent both for the centre of the village and for walking the surrounding coast. I highly recommend this cottage! The only point I would highlight as a negative are the bins. The rubbish hadn't been collected for a while and so we had no room for our own rubbish and had to leave a separate bin bag on top of the wheelie bin. I understand if no one is in the cottage on bin day they might not be emptied, but having no where to put food waste is not ideal. The parking is also a bit tricky. Once I got used to it I was fine, but I would definitely emphasise it needs to be a small car as the easiest way to get in and out of the space is to reverse in round a corner between a wall and a house.

  • "Small and difficult to access car parking space a big issue and dependent on how other cars parked for reverse access down narrow gap."

Had to abandon use of this when car scraped along the wall. A lot of other cottages provide a token for use of the public car park where there is no effective parking. Mattress for single bed very uncomfortable and had to purchase a mattress topper. Saucepans and baking trays had damaged surfaces and were not fit for purpose. Notwithstanding the foregoing the cottage itself comfortable and location was excellent and a good base for exploring.

Our only concern relates to the minimal and not easy accessible parking, but that appears to be case for the majority of properties in Seahouses. Other than that, we had no problems whatsoever.

Yes - parking is tight! The brochure says one small car around the back. Reverse around - and it’s somewhat easier - took me while to get the angles correct!! And believe it or not I’ve seen a neighbor’s full size Range Rover back there!! No idea how he got it back there. Glad you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

Very happy with the location, two minutes from sea front, pubs and shops. The accommodation is very homely, cottage very warm, didn't need to use the log burner. All home comforts provided and good quality. Would highly recommend if you don't need a garden for pets, but be aware the parking behind is snug to access; anything bigger than a Ford focus you would struggle. Would definitely go back as we love that area of Northumberland! One final thing: please provide pizza cutter ;-)

Very Short walk to all amenities. Walk north out of seahouses and there is sandy beach all the way to Bamburgh. Walk south and join the beach all the way to Beadnell and beyond. Amazing! Cottage warmed up nicely once we worked out electric radiators. Really big stove, you need to buy own wood and coal. A new seal has been put into door which makes it difficult to shut. I was pleased my son was there to close it as I was struggling which was a concern considering the fire was going. Hopefully the seal will bed down but I didn’t use the stove again once he left at the end of weekend and my wife and I stayed for the week. Cottage is comfortable and cozy and we quickly felt at home. Would definitely return.

This was a surprise 60th present for my wife. We love the area and she was delighted when I told her on the way we were heading for a cottage in Seahouses. Doubly delighted when she stepped inside. The property, a credit to the owners, is first class, beautifully furnished and maintained. It instantly felt like home.
