  • "Property was excellent everything was of a very high standard ."

Only down side is neighbour from next property who confronted us very aggressively over parking . If we had parked were we told us too we would have blocked door and his garage. We have rented viking apartments for many years and never had a issue over parking . But this does not reflect on keildon which brilliant would recommend to anyone but park elsewhere.

  • "We booked with Northumbria Cottages multiple times over the past few years, but do not feel this property met the usual standards we have previously experienced, especially due to the premium price tag for this property."

On arrival there was no cot in the property, even though this had been requested and confirmed on the booking, luckily this was quickly resolved by the local team and a cot was delivered, but was not a great start. We contacted you on Sunday about a few issues. When we got no response, we sent a facebook message on Tuesday, this resulted in a phone call on Wednesday saying they would send someone round to have a look at the issues raised and we left the key on the box so they could access the property, we also re-sent the email. There was then no further contact so we sent another facebook message on Thursday, then got a phone call while we had no signal and left an answer machine message saying they were outside, but did not attempt to enter the property using the key in the keybox despite you agreeing to do this during our phone conversation. On Friday we sent further facebook message, the only response was to contact the local team on the email address we had previously said we were using but had no response. During the stay we noticed the following issue which were raised: Cleanliness - the property was in need of deep clean - here are some examples: Toothbrush holders were dirty Towel rails thick with dust Sand/crumbs in the corners of hard floor rooms Cobwebs and flies in the window frames Kitchen cupboards had crumbs in Cooker hood dusty Kitchen bin was dirty and had waste from previous guest Electric blind on the top floor was stuck in the down position and could not be opened (not great for a seaview property) Foul drain smell coming from the utility room that filled the hallway and stairs En suite shower in the downstairs bedroom was slow draining Lack of hot water - the property can sleep 6, but we were having cold showers after 3 people had showered. After 3 weeks of trying to contact Northumbria coast and country cottages, still unresolved, we are disappointed. Keildon is a beautiful property in a perfect setting but needs a lot of these things resolving to make it worth the premium price tag.

Dear Anna. We are very sorry to hear you were so disappointed with your experience at Keildon. We take your feedback extremely seriously. Holidays are so precious and we recognise that small matters can spoil a person’s time away. We are also very aware that future guests rely on feedback to assess whether they wish to stay in a particular property. We met with Northumbria Coast & Country last weekend as we were so concerned about the situation and wanted to satisfy ourselves that your complaints were being properly dealt with. We were reassured by them that all the issues raised in your feedback had been resolved to your satisfaction such that you would in fact stay again. We were really pleased to hear this but apologise once again that you were not 100% happy during your stay in our property. Property Owner

  • "Fabulous position, saw dolfins from the balcony on three different occasions."

Saw a fishing boat being lifted out of the dock onto a lowloader one morning, from the balcony. There was everything we needed in the house. Plenty of room for 4 adults and 2 children, never felt on top of each other. Had a problem with the dishwasher, it was fixed the same day. Excellent. OK a few cobwebs, but clean otherwise. Would go again. Fabulous holiday.

  • "1.Chaotic arrangements for first entering property with insufficient accurate information Re needing to first enter property BEFORE being able to gain access to park car."

    2. No explanation on not being able to use the 3 balconies because of no furniture. Ground floor stored cushions Bird Pooh stained. Metal folding chairs rust stained so not useable. 3. First floor rear toilet stained which I cleaned. 4. Balcony floors dirty and bird pooh stained. THIS IS THE FOURTH TIME WITH OUT ANY RESPONCE WE HAVE ATTEMPTED TO BRING THESE DEFICITS TO YOUR ATTENTION! Once by previous email, once by phone call, once by personnel visit to Northumbria cottages Seahouses Office.Because of this not optimistic that completing this feed back with make any difference.

Dear Roger. I’m so very sorry to hear you had such a bad experience at our property. I have today called Northumbria Coast & Country Cottages to find out what happened for their service to have fallen so far short of what is expected. I am particularly concerned that these matters weren’t dealt with when you contacted them numerous times to find a resolution. Please be assured we will make every effort to get to the bottom of these problems to ensure no other guests have their holidays spoiled. Once I know more, after this bank holiday weekend, I will be in touch again. Sarah Property Owner

  • "The views from the apartment are spectacular, couldn’t be bettered."

The apartment is pretty spectacular too, very modern, comfortable and well equipped. We really enjoyed our stay. On the other hand, dealing with Sykes Cottages was less than spectacular. Twice I asked for additional information about the apartment (the no-dogs policy and the availability of secure storage for bikes) and on both occasions my initial requests were seemingly ignored. It was only after I persisted that I eventually got Sykes to contact the owners to ask for me. Once they did that I got the information I needed in a timely fashion. If I was the owner I’d ditch Sykes for someone else who actually bothers with customer service.

Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased you enjoyed your time in Northumberland. We have spoken with Sykes about your comments on their service. Property Owner

  • "The property is amazing, well equipped and in a fantastic location."

It is comfortable, very clean, good quality fixtures and fittings and has amazing sea and harbour views. A TV in the small bedroom would be good as the other 2 bedrooms have 1, it could sit on top of the chest of drawers. A mirror is needed in the downstairs en-suite and a check that all electrical sockets, equipment and heating is working regularly would be good as we did have to make a call to report the cooker hood, some electric sockets and heating not working and that the front door handle inside was very loose. These are minor things and in no way impacted on us as they were dealt with in a timely manner. We absolutely loved the property and would recommend it to anyone. A place we would definitely return to.

  • "Beautiful well-equipped home with stunning views."

Would recommend just a couple of issues. Patio area was unusable as very dirty and lots of metal scraps on the ground which I tried to pick up.Definitely not suitable for our 3 year old to play. No garage fob when we arrived and although Northumbria cottages provided a replacement when they were next open still could not open door. Needed garage storage for expensive bikes. Few DIY jobs need doing.eg loose toilet seats, door handles, stair rail, blinds.

Thank you for leaving a review. We really appreciate you taking the time to do so. We are sorry there were maintenance issues that meant the flat was not as comfortable for you as it should have been. In particular we are sorry you were not able to get into the garage. This must have been frustrating. We have asked our maintenance team to address these issues. Property Owner

  • "The house was immaculate with a lovely position overlooking the harbour."

The only negative point was the accumulation of bird droppings and weeds on the first and third balconies. I think they should be cleaned prior to change over as I accept there will be the occasional bird droppings being close to the sea

Thank you for taking the time to review our flat. We are pleased you liked our flat. We have spoken to our maintenance team and suggested the balconies are cleaned more regularly. We are really sorry the bird droppings meant your stay was less comfortable than it should have been. Property Owner

  • "Parking slight issue, if you can’t fit car in garage you park over neighbour’s garage, however a permit was provided for local car park which helped."

Problem with intermittent smell from utility room. These minor issues to our enjoyment of this spectacular property.

Thank you for taking the time to review our flat. Feedback is really appreciated. The garage is a bit on the small side and intended only for bikes etc. There is usually plenty of parking in the yard, but not always directly outside the front door. We are sorry to hear this wasn’t the case during your stay. The nearby car park is just across the road and is very large. Also, the car park pass we provide is valid for all Northumberland car parks so useful for day trips in the area as well. Property Owner

  • "Lovely 3 floor property situated in an excellent position and finished to a really high standard."

Dishwasher was an unexpected and welcome bonus! So nice to have really comfortable furniture and beds. The outside areas all have spectacular views across to the Islands and Bamburgh and the picture window in the living room made sunset watches a delight. With 4 adults there was plenty of space. Easy access to shops and restaurants. Had a wonderful stay and would hope to come back soon.

  • "Fabulous accommodation and location."

Third floor bedroom is lovely with great views over Bamburgh castle and the sea. Seahouses is a lovely little town with daily trips by boat to the Farne Isles and fabulous walks on the beach. Bamburgh castle is well worth a visit and we saw Dolphins out at sea from there. The property is well equipped. One of the ground floor bedrooms that is not en-suite is a bit small and would be better for bunk beds for kids rather than another adult although we didn't have any issues with this. The entrance to the property via a key box was a bit of a faff and the instructions on entry to the property were unclear. We would suggest that the number of the property rather than the name is provided since this is what is given on the entry key pads to outside doors. We had a wonderful week's stay.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We really appreciate it. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay and delighted you saw dolphins. We still haven’t seen any on our visits so you were very lucky. We also welcome your suggestions about how it could be easier to find the front door as it’s not immediately obvious. Property Owner

Like all property there's usually the odd thing that pops,up. Utility room toilet, middle floor, I think they could be a drain problem, bad smell, in there. Kitchen, bin didn't work, but no big deal, and the electric blinds didn't work, and again no problem. Apart from that everything fantastic.

Dear David. We were delighted to hear you enjoyed the beautiful views from our flat and that you found it such a lovely place to stay.
