Many interesting places to visit nearby and handy for Newcastle on the Metro.

Adequate kitchen stuff. Would prefer bath to be removed and allow more space for bathroom, maybe wet room. Couldn’t get sitting room tv to show BbC1 etc. Sofas are a bit tired but enjoyable stay overall.

  • "Perfect holiday home."

The only negative, sadly was the fire would not work. From the comments in the visitors book it's not been working for a while. It lacked the cosiness needed on the wet and windy days.

  • "The cottage was cold and the fire did not work."

An oversight from us, there was no dishwasher and the oven did not heat well. The stairs are very steep with an over hang where you can easily hit your head. Tynemouth is beautiful but there were several gangs of teenagers (20+) hanging around the road and car park area on the walk up the cottage which is a bit isolated. Next door had there window smashed while we where there and the police called.

  • "The gas fire did not work, the kitchen tap is dripping to the point where it is pouring out."

This is mentioned many times in the visitor book but hasn’t been repaired. The cooker was almost impossible to use too. Location was fantastic and we were just using the cottage as a base to visit local family so it was perfect for us. Would definitely recommend.

  • "We could not get the fire to work at all."

The pilot light came on but, after a few seconds, went out again. This meant we had to use the central heating instead. Also, the tap over the kitchen sink dripped constantly and, by the time our week was up, it was almost free flowing. A waste of water. 2 minor things that did not spoil our fabulous week in this lovely cottage.

  • "Lovely cottage in an outstanding location - two minutes walk into Tynemouth Front St with great places for coffee, restaurants and shopping; two beautiful beaches, King Edward's Bay and The Haven; the ruined priory and castle; the pier; the coastguard station museum; Collingwood's monument; a short walk to the quays; the sea life centre."

.. there is plenty to do right on the doorstep. The cottage itself is an old stone semi-detached coastguard cottage, it is well furnished, clean and comfortable. There are three private parking spaces and there is a little private yard where you can hang washing. There's also a little yard out the front where you can watch boats coming into the Tyne. Would highly recommend.

  • "The only real issues that I have with this property are the stairs and the all downstairs toilet facilities."

The stairs are not very good if you have some walking difficulties. I never felt safe all week and the single hand rail does not allow you to grab it securely. If you don't have these issues and don't mind the downstairs facilities then it should be ok for you.

  • "Property is not easy to find, no clear signpost of where the property is and which parking spaces were ours."

A kind neighbour helped us and told us parking Bay 6 and 5 was ours. The cottage advertises 3 parking spaces which is partly why we chose this cottage as we were meeting with family so we were quite dismayed on the Sunday when we were challenged about parking in bay 5 by someone claiming that this is a space that their son normally parks in. Has this cottage got 3 parking spaces or not? The key safe came completely off the wall when trying to access the keys, broken lamp in the twin room and the downstairs television was impossible to get working. We did email the owners on Friday and they did get back to us on the Monday but we were back home then. However this is a nice cottage tucked away in a quiet area so a shame it lets itself down in a few areas. This would have been an ideal cottage for us to come to regular for meeting family but will not stay again due to the parking debacle.

I loved our morning cuppa sitting out, looking at the sea and watching the gulls. Just a few paces around the corner and we would watch the activities in the bay. We enjoyed a short circular walk around this part of Tynemouth which gave us a great feel for the place whilst stopping to enjoy the market and of course the great views! The cottage itself has everything you need. Really well set up and the decoration is just right. Our teenagers enjoyed the access to bars as we did too. Great history on your doorstep - a perfect getaway, and Hank you.

The cottage was spotlessly clean and well maintained in a lovely setting within reach of all that Tynemouth has to offer The facilities within the cottage are as described - it is worth noting that the bathroom is downstairs whilst the two bedrooms are on the first floor and as a personal choice I would prefer a dishwasher to washing machine however this would not prevent us from staying again We loved the sonos system as we listen to music whenever we are inside A perfect cottage for couples or small family holiday near beautiful beaches and attractive ruined priory and castle

Good wi-fi and tv for us techies. I have only slightly downgraded the facilities because there is no bathroom on the same floor as the bedrooms but this would not be a problem for those less elderly than us. The beds are comfortable and lots of coat hangers was a good idea. One very, very small point to raise was that although I was advised to bring beach and tea towels, I wasn’t told to bring toilet paper expected more than one third of a roll to be provided. Luckily, there is a co-op on Front Street With long opening hours, Tynemouth Cottage is in a lovely and quiet location with fabulous walks in all directions. I thoroughly recommend it.

It's in the most stunning and quiet location but only a few minutes from the shops, bars, restaurants & gorgeous beaches. There is plenty to do nearby. I would highly recommend the cottage & Tynemouth for anybody wanting a traditional but up-market UK family beach holiday. My only tiny annoyance was that there wasn't any information in the cottage about what to do about taking the rubbish out & how to do the recycling but apart from that - perfect!
