  • "We had a really good holiday at No 4 again."

It is so comfortable and well equipped. The location is ideal everything Amble has to offer is within easy walking distance. The hardest part of our stay there is having to leave!!!! We are looking forward to our next visit in 2025

  • "Overall a nice cottage, very clean and can see newly decorated through out."

Good size rooms and a good size yard for the area. A few negatives, the cooker took ages to cook anything , took 1 hour to do chips that should have took 15 minutes. So couldn't use it. And it was on a very noisy road , even through the night cars were zooming past . Obviously that can't he helped but if like us you are taking a dog and a baby might be too noisy.

  • "I'll start with the pros as I don't want to be too negative, the beds & sofas were lovely & comfortable, there were plenty of towels, storage, hooks, crockery & glassware."

The back yard got sun all day & there was a washing line, pegs & clothes prop which was brilliant. There was also an outside tap which was great for washing sandy wellies off. The house was only a short walk from the harbour, & only a short walk from a good pub serving food & a lovely little micro bar, both dog friendly, The neatives were that the cleaning left a lot to be desired, there were cobwebs & dust behind the TV, & the ledges on the doors were all very dusty. A strange thing that we've always had when ever we've stopped in self catering before, there was no hand wash in the bathroom, only hand gel! Also only 2 toilet rolls to last a week!! Surely the cleaner should also know that the toilet brush is broken!? Also one of the garden chairs was rotting away, one of the lats on the seat had broken. The freezer needed defrosting, & the welcome pack that contained a scourer, thin dish cloth, dishwasher tablets (No dishwasher!), the tiniest bottle of washing up liquid & 2 bin bags was a waste of time. The owner must spend a lot of money providing these, they would be much better off leaving a normal bottle of WUL, a roll of bin bags & a scourer. I think they have recently put a new kettle & toaster in the kitchen as there were old ones in the cupboard, be careful with these, the kettle leaks water everywherewhen you try & pour it & with the toaster you have to tuen the setting button to 0 to cancel as it doesn't have a cancel button. Also in the back bedroom there is a trailing socket near the bed, be careful for falling over it. All in all a lovely little place to stay, if the cleaner & handyman did a better job it would be brilliant

thanks for your feed back, we will be talking to the cleaning company. Also we are aware of the garden table n chairs and are in the process of changing them. Thank you for constructive feed back. Property Owner

Only a 3 night break but could easily have stayed longer. Great location for dog and walks from the door. Mostly ate out but house seemed to have everything you would need. Would have no hesitation in returning to same property.

there does seem to be a problem with ants, they were on worktops each morning even though we didnt leave food out. I know it's a difficult one to solve but only mentioning as I'm sure it will be worse in the summer. Overall still a lovely stay

Nice area round the back but unfortunatley was a bit to windy to make the most of it. Nice location, walks from more or less outside your door Amble was a nice little place

  • "Still an ant infestation problem, despite previous reviews."

Problem only evident in kitchen, but wasn't able to leave food out as a result. Also couldn't use the kitchen bin without 100's of ants appearing, so all good waste had to go directly into the outside bins. Food and ants not a great combination, ended up eating out more than not. Other than that, nice property, but spoilt the holiday, and feel the problem should have been resolved by now.

  • "A beautifully presented holiday home."

Charming decor It was spotlessly clean they had thought of everything that you could wish for. Plentiful supply of tea bags and sugar as well as washing up liquid and soap A delightful backyard great for having a meal outside. The bed was amazingly comfortable and wonderful quality bed linen and towels. My only tiny niggle is that there were no phone charging points ,or a socket for an electric razor. Some of the sockets upstairs were too low down. I really don’t like moaning about the sockets We had a great stay and I am sure we will come again

  • "There was an ant infestation in the kitchen ."

When I reported this, I was told there was only one maintenance person available and to buy some ant repellent. I had to interrupt my holiday to shop for repellent. We sprayed in the kitchen, not good as this is where food is prepared. The day after we found the ants were living in a hole in the kitchen bin lid. We sprayed this and left outside for a while. This seemed to eliminate the ants. I was told that we would be reimbursed for ant spray but this has not happened.

Beds very comfy decor really fresh . A few minor improvements ,like a small waste bin in bathroom for makeup wipes etc ,not a lot of information on places to eat or places to go , We have family in Amble and travel quite often so know the area well but anyone there for the first time would appreciate more info . We enjoyed our break and would stay there again .

About the location

AMBLE

Warkworth 1 mile; Alnmouth 4 miles.

The bustling little seaport of Amble is situated at the mouth of the River Coquet and is an ideal place for exploring Northumberland. Historically a centre for boatbuilding, Amble offers a marina, a harbour, sandy beaches and coastal walks to the bird sanctuary at Hauxley and country park at Druridge Bay. Large fishing boats moor along the harbour wall and land a variety of fish, prawns, crabs and lobsters. There is a fish centre on the side of the harbour that is now primarily a shell fish hatchery to re-stock levels of lobster and other shell fish, this sells local fish and is open to the public. A mile south of Amble is Coquet Island, an RSPB reserve with a large population of terns, puffins and eider ducks and boat trips around the island can be arranged. The pretty coastal villages of Alnmouth and Craster and numerous superb beaches are only a short drive away, whilst picturesque Warkworth with its castle, charming Alnwick with its castle and award-winning gardens, and the National Trust’s Wallington Hall and Cragside are all within easy reach.
