  • "Amazing property, fantastic hot tub with lovely views."

Our second time staying at one of Chris’s cottages, both places are great with everything you need there. Attention to detail was spot on, from the towels provided, ample toilet rolls, etc. - most holiday cottages lack these so these little extras really set this property apart. High end and upmarket cottage, you can tell no expense was spared. We’ll be back again next year thanks!

The views were amazing. The area around the house was lovely and quiet. More instructions in the house folder about how the heating is timed and recycling bins would be useful.

  • "Our property was stunning, with lots of space for 5 of us and 2 dogs."

So close to Durham and Beamish we would highly recommend. Whoever bags the main bedroom is on for a treat with a stunning floor to ceiling wall of windows with views over the fields. The other 2 bedrooms were also lovely each having their own shower rooms. The owners were also very helpful and accomodating.

This was our second visit to Witton Farm and it won’t be the last. We cannot praise the owners high enough. They are so nice and friendly and make you extremely welcome. There is everything you could conceivably need in the house it is so well appointed they have thought of absolutely everything. So as someone once said ….we will be back !

  • "We were very happy with our stay, a few minor issues which we did report back to the owner."

Nothing of significance that spoilt our week. The bedroom with the large bath was very warm and few windows could be opened. We bought a fan to help keep it cool. We did have a particularly warm week. Hot tub excellent. Fantastic kitchen and lovely enclosed grass area for the dogs. Good walks from the doorstep. Two local pubs. Travellers Rest was good for food, Glendenning Arms for drinkers. Both welcome dogs. Best to get the bus into Durham, 10 mins and half hourly service most times. Lanchester worth a visit. Excellent food at the Kings Head. Beamish museum, 25 mins by car, is a must and prepare to be there for the day. We hope to return again to this property, or one of the others on this excellent complex.

All the equipment we needed to cook too, and a lovely space to live in both inside and outside. Loved the hot tub too, but most of all the views, the tranquil location and the beautiful animals! All the fixtures and fittings are of the highest quality, really amazing home from home. The only slight downside was that in the two bedrooms of a similar size the bathrooms smelt 'eggy' almost like a sulpher like smell. Is it worth looking at the drains maybe?

The garden is large and our dogs really enjoyed running around playing and watching the horses and alpacas in the adjacent fields. There are lots of dog friendly walks in the area and also a cycle path near by. We visited a couple of farm shops in the area that sold lots of fresh local produce to cook in the lovely well equipped kitchen.
