  • "We had a great time at pond cottage."

It was clean and cozy and we would recommend it to our friends and family. We do have one piece of feedback though: For the price we paid for two nights it seems quite unfortunate that we could only arrive at 4pm and had to leave by 10am. Effectively, we ended up paying for a day and a half of the cottage. I understand cleaning staff must come in to clean, but it still seems that check-in could be earlier. The instructions also explicitly said to not as for early check in.

Thank you for your feedback, check in check out times are to give us time to clean and are staggered for the three properties we have. We do when possible message guests when earlier check in is possible but on this occasion and with it being a busy Saturday for us we weren’t able to. We are very happy that you enjoyed your break and the cottage and hope you will return for another visit. Property Owner

Peaceful safe , calm environment , ideal for do owners so many excellent walks to beach and surrounding villages . Was not keen on the security light outside room on all night but well run property and have no doubt this will soon be fixed .

Thank you for your brilliant feedback, I’ll look at the settings on the security light if it is on constantly. Hope you come back and stay with us again. Lesley and Darren Property Owner

  • "The cottage was beautiful and well decorated, the garden was not good very high and big steps to get into it and not a proper fence around it so had to watch my dogs constantly, maybe some hardy plants in the garden and just make it look more inviting, the drive up to the cottage was not great lots of potholes, first impressions not good we thought “where have we come to be honest” Maybe some nice pots with bright plants in a bit of weeding behind the cottage would be good, We had a lovely wkend in such a beautiful part of Northumberland it didn’t spoil our break."

Thank you for your feedback and your kind words about the cottage. We are looking into enclosing the garden. The garden is clearly featured in the photographs which should always be viewed prior to booking. The potholes on the road up-to the farm are unfortunately out of our control. Property Owner

  • "We stayed at Pond Cottage for a week in early August."

The Cottage was everything we wanted, comfortable, clean and the owners were very friendly and kind. The location was beautiful, we enjoyed walks down the lane, along the footpaths either to the dunes by the sea or to Alnmouth along the path to the bridge. Our two dogs loved their runs on the beach and walks along the lanes and footpaths near the farm. We miss sitting on the bench in front of the cottage in the sun admiring the view with a morning coffee. Yes it is a working farm, for us that is part of its charm. So many castles and other places to visit as well as Alnmouth within easy reach. A day trip to Edinburgh, about an hour by train from Alnmouth station was an added treat.. Pond Cottage is on our ‘revisit list’ .. so much more to do and see in Northumberland. Thank you from Sara and Martyn

  • "I'm afraid the cockrels spoilt my visit to this lovely cottage in a lovely part of the country."

Non-stop from the second the sun was even close to coming up. So much for a peaceful weekend. Should have taken the "working farm" as a warning

Thank you for your feedback which we have taken it on board. We are sorry that your weekend break was disrupted by the rogue cockerels that weren't sleeping where they were supposed to. We have moved them to a different location on the farm and they will no longer be a problem. Property Owner

  • "We had a great stay and the cottage was lovely, however, we think that if you take dogs then there should be an enclosed garden for them."

This cottage did not have an enclosed garden, so this made things difficult. Also, the cockerels at the farm started making a row from 2:30am in the morning and woke me up several times. We also where unable to open the window in the bedroom as the noise was so bad.

We are sorry to hear the cockerels disturbed your sleep during your break, They are kept in a barn away from the cottage and aren't let out until 8am. Maybe a rogue cockerel has been sleeping somewhere he shouldnt. The cottage is not advertised as having an enclosed garden, but this is something we wish to remedy in the future. We hope you will come back to stay again Property Owner

  • "No hot water due to faulty boiler."

Not resolved. members of our party left the property a day early because of this. No compenstion for a totally ruined break.

Thank you for your feedback. We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused during your bank holiday weekend break. We had a plumber come for an emergency call out the morning after you reported you didn’t have hot water, then a heating engineer. Unfortunately since it was a bank holiday weekend they could not obtain the part until the Tuesday. Although not ideal and not as we would wish there was still an Electric Shower, Dishwasher, Kettle and Washing Machine. Compensation was offered. We would like to apologise again for the inconvenience caused. Property Owner

  • "On first thoughts this cottage was clean and tidy and looks very comfortable."

I had messaged the owners for some information and they very quick to get back to me. I am sure they are lovely people. However, being woken up every morning as early as 5am by Cockerels was not pleasant! They were then being let out at about 7ish as my son would be woken up between 7-730 with one shouting at his window. The main bed was like a concrete pad with cracks in the frame, so everytime you moved it would make a noise. Also, the boil sounded like a train in the night behind the bedroom wall. If you didn't leave the boiler on, very little hot water in the morning! There generally wasn't enough hot water for 4 people to shower in the morning or night anyway. It was my fault for not reading. However, there is no washing machine at this cottage. So for us as a family of 4 and a dog for 7 nights was not practical. We have stayed in lots of cottages and this is the first one without a washing machine. The rest of the kitchen is fairly well equipped. We are from North Yorkshire and also have our own chickens and spend alot of time in the moors, so we are very much suited to country life. With all this said, we checked out 2 days early as we were all very tired from lack of sleep. For a family this cottage would be ok for a weekend, but that is it.

  • "We really enjoyed our short stay at Pond Cottage."

It was spacious and fully fitted out with everything that we could possibly need. The cottage was spotlessly clean, with very comfortable sofas and beds. Underfloor heating throughout made the stay a pleasure to come back to the premises after a long day out walking our two dogs on the stunning local beaches throughout the area. Hot running water and spacious spotless showers were a pleasure to use. With fast WiFi throughout the building and a large flatscreen smart tv left us not wanting for anything and regular contact from the owners to check we were happy with everything made the stay extra special. We will definitely return for another stay, that’s if we can find a slot to book into…

The cottage was beautifully furnished & very comfortable. The wine & chocolates were a very welcoming touch. It was lovely to have everything on one level & the heart of the cottage being the sitting room & kitchen. When we were cooking & hanging out we were all together which was great. The views of the sea were lovely & there was a really nice walk down to the coast. Great location for us & our dogs.

Myself, my son's and my wee dog stayed for 4 nights. I have mobility issues and use 2 sticks and would highly recommend this cottage for those who can't manage stairs ect. Really enjoyed having a ensuite bathroom which was a luxury for me. Only issue was no washing machine but this was not listed in cottage info so reasonable enough. Otherwise 100% happy. We loved the friendly curious cockerel. Nearly brought him back to Scotland with us
