  • "We felt disappointed."

The outside patio had an overgrown clematis so it was difficult to sit in the shade. There were signs of a dog being there at sometime due to food morsels under the sink. There seems to be damp in the corner left hand side wall looking in towards the kitchen. Even though we'll return to Wooler but not that accommodation.

  • "We enjoyed our stay at 31 Peth head and were grateful to David and Sheila for their help and advice."

The cottage had everything you could need but some oven trays would be helpful. We found the beds very comfortable and there was plenty of storage space too. The parking space was a boon and the one minor issue we had was dealt with straight away. David and Sheila were very hospitable and the cottage was in a lovely village. We went to fry fry a couple of times(their fish and chips was sensational). We used the Anchor pub for a nice meal. Small menu but huge portions and very dog friendly. We visited lots of places during our stay and would recommend Beamish Living Museum as a great day out. All in all, we had a lovely holiday in a beautiful part of the country and would definately come back.

  • "This is a lovely property, well situated near to the local shops and with private parking."

It is close to the Northumberland National Park and it is an easy drive to the coast. The hosts were very friendly and helpful and provided lots of information about the property. There is limited outside space and the stairs to the second floor are quite steep. The living area is an open plan kitchen, dining and seating area and it is carpeted throughout. There is an electric fire in the living area. As a family of four, with two fully grown children and a cocker spaniel, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay a Peth Head and our visit to Wooler.

It was great that it had private parking. The Kitchen and bathroom could do with some updating and freshening up. The cottage could really do with a proper deep clean and a redecorate as was quite scruffy in places. We did have to wash up some of the crockery and cutlery before we could use it! Some positives - the beds and bedding were comfortable. Sofas were comfortable. Good size for what we wanted, and had all the equipment we needed.

The cottage was comfortable and well equipped. The beds in the twin room were very comfy and provided a good night's sleep. There were plenty of books and games aswell as lots of info about the area. Disappointed that the photos and description didn't mention that the outside seating area was not enclosed, especially with having a dog. Also, I think that downstairs should not be carpeted as in the kitchen area it is quite stained. It was a bonus having a parking space as Wooler, which is a lovely little town, could get busy and parking becomes a premium.

Wooler in itself is a lovely place, with a few lovely pubs, a hotel which does a fantastic Sunday lunch, a Co-op in easy walking distance for all your culinary needs. We did have a slight issue the day before our arrival. The owners of the property contacted us to advise of a boiler issue. (No hot water) It did not stop our enjoyment of our holiday albeit no hot water to soak in a bath after a day walking the area. A kettle on all 3 floors was provided plus a free Sunday lunch for our inconvenience. Would certainly stay again at the property.

It is quite small, but very comfortable for a couple. The beds look brand new, and the king size bed was very nice indeed. The stairs are very steep, so perhaps not so suitable for small children or the less mobile. The owners live nearby, and are very helpful.

The property

Situated in the delightful town of Wooler in Northumberland, is this lovely terrace cottage, 31 Peth Head, set over three floors in this pretty row of traditional stone built cottages.

It is wonderfully suited to a family or couples, with its three floors of carefully decorated rooms and use of original features such as wooden beams.

The property journey begins in the open-plan living space, with your eyes immediately darting to the striking teal sofas set around the electric fire and TV, a perfect place to spend a rainy evening, being warmed in front of the fire.

Behind this is the dining table for four so you can share a meal with the family, cooked up in the pretty light and bright kitchen containing all the essential appliances you need, cleverly maximising the under-stair space.

At the top of the stairs on the first-floor is a handy cloakroom containing a WC, just across from the twin room which has storage space and a walk in wardrobe, a TV and a window with views out to the village and hills beyond, and benefiting from a vanity unit with basin and mirror in the corner, the understairs cupbaord on the first floor houses drying facilities.

Continue up to the second floor when it's time to get some shut-eye and find the beautiful and spacious master bedroom, complete with floral curtains and matching cushions, along with solid wood furniture in-keeping with the property's vintage style, with an en-suite bathroom adjoining the room.

To the outside at the front of the house is a patio area with table and chairs, where you can sit out on a sunny evening for some alfresco dining.

The town of Wooler is a great base location for keen walkers who are looking to make the most of the Northumberland countryside, and wanting to visit the Glendale, Cheviot Hills and Northumberland National Park for some fantastic walking and stunning scenery and views.

To the east is the magnificent coastline of Northumberland which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with great trips to be had to Bamburgh Castle, Holy Island of Lindisfarne, Seahouses harbour, or the birdwatcher's paradise of The Farne Islands.

Whatever your reason for visiting this northern part of England, you will love coming home to 31 Peth Head every evening.
