  • "Well appointed cottage, my wife and I struggled with the stairs to get to the loo in the wee hours, but that is not a criticism of the cottage, it's just us being oldies!"

It could do with curtains in the bedrooms to make it darker, the street light on the road is very very bright. Great outside space for our small hound to run around the and it's a real sun trap.Overall a nice place to spend a few days away with in lovely Northumberland.

Lovely and clesn. Great location. Not far from bambrough castle and seahouses. And many other places. Wooler is a great little village with lots to do and many great pubs to eat and drink. The Italian is a must amazing food. Just two things which would be great for the cottage blackout curtains in the bed rooms would be great. And the shower temperature you couldn't change at all. it was way to warm.

Had everything we needed. Shame no TV in the bedroom and a toilet upstairs but we got used to it. Wooler is a lovely town with, pubs and places to eat. Would recommend Milan Resturant. Wooler is a great base to visit the coast, border towns and the national park. We had a great holiday in a lovely cottage.

Nice comfy beds, great log burning fire which was easy to get going on cold days, nicely equipped kitchen and private enclosed courtyard which was safe for furry friends. Shower was great, only downside couldn't seem to get water hot enough when filling the bath! Overall would recommend and will return if we are in the area again! Many Thanks.

We stayed at the cottage last year and really enjoyed it We rebooked for September and once again loved staying there Before leaving we booked up for my birthday in December As soon as I walk through the door I feel at home The cottage is well equipped and I found everything I needed there The outside space is great with parking at the front and sitting area round the back It's very dog friendly /safe Locally it has some lovely places to visit and Wooler has a good high st with independent shops If I was to say anything negative about the cottage it's that the toilets are down stairs This however did not cause us any problems I would certainly recommend staying here if your planning to visit Northumberland

Thankyou so much we have loved having you back again this year, and look forward to your next visit.Your positive feedback is very much appreciated ( if we could move the toilet upstairs it would be top of our list) we look forward to feedback as always looking to improve our facilities to accommodate all guests.Karin & Stan. The property was just as described Once we got the logs burning and wine poured we could quite happily have spent rest of holiday in living room we both felt so relaxed and at home The house was very clean and had everything we needed The garden was secure for the dogs but weather did not allow us to sit outside The house is for 4 people and is well equipped for this The only negative we would have is the size of beds We usually sleep in a king size bed so the double seemed bit small The bed in other bedroom looked slightly smaller The size of rooms of course determins what can go in This would not prevent us going back as everything else was fine

Comfortable couches and beds. Log fires to add to the cosy feel. It snowed whilst we were there so we used them every day.Location couldn’t be better in easy driving distance of many National Trust properties and the coast. We loved Wooler and when the snow was heavy in the mornings we walked up to the beautiful Wooler Common followed by homemade scones and excellent coffee in the Grinders Coffee shop in the village. Plenty of pubs and cafes within easy walking distance. We will return.

  • "The cottage was exactly what we were looking for in the heart of Northumberland."

Walking distance from shops and pubs and centrally located for the sights of the area. The cottage was tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean, furnishings had recently been updated, I think we were the first to use the bath, new double glazing, matching kitchen appliances etc etc. It was a little cold at times in the stone cottage but it was the middle of winter and there is two log burners. We had five power cuts, one for 12 hours, and a note to the owner, maybe leave a couple of torches and candles available in case it happens again. Other than that we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend Bridgend Bothy.

Large accommodation and beautifully furnished..The large log burner created a warm and cosy lounge which was greatly appreciated after a day our exploring Northumberland. This cottage provides a great central location from which to explore the gorgeous scenery and countryside of Northumberland. No problems whatsoever with next door Milk Bar which did not interfere with access to property or make parking difficult. Just a note of caution - anyone with mobility difficulties may find the narrow staircase a challenge to manage. However, for us it was perfect and will definitely return

The owner turned up at 9.55, we had already packed up and were just finishing cleaning and using the loo. She was quite aggressive saying we are supposed to be out by 10. She was of course correct but clearly places no value on her customers to speak like that to us. To say it put a downer on what was a lovely week would be an understatement. Never used sykes before but stay in cottages regularly and never been treated like that before.

The property

Attached to the main farmhouse, Bridge End Bothy dates back to the early 1600's and has independent and private access within the village of Wooler.

As a characterful stone-built holiday cottage, much of its historic charm and original features have been retained to keep couples or travellers returning all-year-round.

Inside, the lounge boasts exposed beams, reclaimed wooden floors, and a woodburning stove which is tucked away into an inglenook fireplace.

Period features continue into the kitchen/diner, which boasts a country cottage feel, with French doors that open up to the lovely garden.

There is also the addition of a utility area and a bathroom, both located on the ground floor.

Upstairs you will discover two bedrooms; a large double and a smaller double, both are layered with a sense of tradition, and presented in a classic yet unique fashion.

Outside you will find an enclosed garden, a beautiful suntrap which locks in the sunshine throughout the day, where you can sit back with a refreshing drink and be at one with the fabulous location.

The retreat lies next to a river and Doddington Milk Bar, which offers an opportunity for you to dine for breakfast and lunch, or indulge in one of their array of sweet treat and of course the famous Doddington Dairy ice cream.

Also within striking distance of the cottage is the Riverside Complex, offering endless hours of fun for the whole family, with use of a heated swimming pool, a bar with Sky Sports and a restaurant with a menu to suit all tastes.

On the edge of the Northumberland National Park, Wooler is just a short drive away from the historic town of Alnwick, with its famous castle and Gardens, and the well preserved Garrison town of Berwick-upon-Tweed.

Chillingham Castle, with its ancient herd of wild white cattle and Coldstream, just over the Scottish border, are definitely worthy of a visit.

A holiday to remember.
