  • "Lovely sweet property in great location, backing on to the lake."

Beautiful setting & great walks from the doorstep. Easy parking. Very peaceful (this may be different when the cabin pods opposite are occupied), relaxing, clean, warm & cosy. Tastefully decorated & furnished. Very comfortable beds. Having 2 lounges was great for when people wanted to watch different programmes. The welcome bottle of prosecco & tea & coffee supplies was a lovely touch. Although generally well equipped, extra pans, & tea towels would have been nice & some kitchen equipment was absent or in need of replacement. Other small niggles- the water temperature was scalding hot; although there are 2 lounges they both only seat 3 people, rather than 4; the settee in the ensuite lounge was not very comfortable. Only the TV in the ensuite was fully functional as a smart TV. Overall, I can highly recommend. Could be perfect with a few tweaks.

Your feedback has been noted about the small improvements needed to enhance your stay and will be passed on to our Accommodation Manager. We hope you get the opportunity to stay with us again. • "Lakeside Cottage is set in a beautiful location, and, for accommodation if you are at a wedding, would be ideal."

However, for a six day holiday, there was no hanging space, apart from hooks and no drawers in the bedrooms, which meant that our cases remained unpacked. The accommodation is set up with a communal space for the Pods, that adjoins the Cottage, separated only by an internal door. Whilst we were there, this was used past the recommended time of 11pm, which meant that we couldn't really use the lounge, due to the noise level and as every conversation could be heard. Whilst the bathrooms are both well-appointed, we had the unfortunate experience of having a slug in the main bathroom. Due to a family situation, we had to cut our holiday short.

Dear Kevin, thank you for your feedback. We've been providing coat hangers on the hooks for Sykes guests to hang clothes from but sadly they are always taken. As such, I've discussed your comments with the owners and we will be purchasing drawers for the bedrooms. Regarding the noise, there is a corridor separating Lakeside Cottage from the Potting Shed but I appreciate the sound may have carried if the occupants were loud. The lodges are seldom rented out as we tend to use them solely for weddings so I can only apologise on behalf of the group that were using it over your stay for any disturbance caused. With regard to the bathroom, it is not an issue we have ever had before but I have made the accommodation staff aware of it. Property Owner

  • "Yes the accommodation was very clean However on the down side there were no wardrobes or any hangers in the bedrooms So we had to leave all our clothes in our suitcases, so my wife’s blouses and skirts were creased as were my shirts and trousers."

A real letdown in such a quality venue.

Thank you for your feedback which is appreciated. Your comments have been noted and will be addressed. Property Owner

Comfy bed and very spacious bathrooms. Does not overlook the lake but is a very short walk around the corner. One too many cabins in the courtyard.

I felt myself falling forward in the bed as there's a dip in the middle! Other than that the cottage was lovely! Hence the 4 stars instead if 5!

Thank you for your feedback. We will look into the issue with the bed and are pleased that you liked the cottage overall. Property Owner

.. Peaceful, superb surroundings, excellent staff. We would go back tomorrow... The only issue is you can't book it 'well in advance' it is last minute.com due to the weddings which are held at the venue which use the same properties. Thoroughly recommend it if you like peace & quiet.

Lakeside cottage doesn’t face onto the lake but that view can be accessed by a short walk around the building. A very special find.

There was plenty of room, the beds were really comfy, the showers were great and the bath was sheer luxury. It was a joy to walk round the lakes and gardens and unwind. We will definitely try to book this property when we return

The property is well kept and in great condition. We were very happy with our stay. We didn’t use the lounge by the front door but when the guests checked in on the Friday, they were incredibly loud. We shut the door and the door to the kitchen and couldn’t hear them, but this could affect other guests.
