So well equipped, everything you could possibly need is available. Extremely clean and comfortable, couldn't ask for better. A great location to explore the immediate area and further afield which has lots to offer. If we decide to come to back to this part of the country in the future we would definitely book again.

  • "Whilst I accept that the remarks in the Vistor book were all positive, we found the property tired and shabby."

The bathroom shower had black mould and cracked tiles and there were water stains on the wooden surrounds. The bathroom sink was so low and at a jaunty angle, with an aggravating noisy floor in the bathroom. There was no ceiling rose in the bedroom so showing bare wires. The bedroom mirror was so low it was unusable. The parked car ourtside the property did little to enhance the kerb appeal. The driveway was very steep ( we live in Lincolnshire!) Considering the amount we paid, we felt the property was poor value for money. We notice that it has been considsrably reduced for August to £457, this is a more appropriate amount for this type of property.

Thank you for your comments, we are very sorry that you did not enjoy your stay at Basford View. We do take your comments on board. Thanks again. Property Owner

If we could make one constructive suggestion a hairdryer would be really useful.

We are very sorry about this we used to provide a hairdryer but one of our customers pinched it. However we will look at trying to provide another one. Property Owner

  • "A fantastic property."

The overall design is a little dated, but that is more than offset by a very comfortable, clean and well equipped house. Lots of little details that really make a difference, from the simple things like kitchen roll, scouring pads etc. to the more fundamental like a GREAT shower, decent Wi-fi, very comfy bed. One thing I didn’t think was that important but actually really makes a difference is a very good tv in the living room, this, combined with a cosy sofa with leg risers makes for a very enjoyable evening :) so often in holiday let’s we end up with tiny TVs and uncomfortable sofas! Not here! There are a few great walks that can be done from the property, the canal loop is well worthwhile and includes 3 pubs! Huge thanks to Paul and Dawn for a great stay and a warm welcome. Will definitely use again next time I’m in the area.

There are no major supermarkets nearby and we found no suitable restaurants/ pubs close to the property. The shower operation was erratic suddenly becoming cold, and a few seconds later extremely hot. The bathroom radiator appears to need attention as it did not get hot while the central heating was running. The bathroom is generally old and would benefit from an upgrade.

Thank you for staying at Basford View and providing feedback on your stay. We're sorry that you had issues during your stay, if we had been informed during your time there we would of been able to help. We have since checked on the shower and did not find any issues. Property Owner

It is in a good location for visiting a number of National trust properties, Alton towers, Waterpark, the potteries and the Peak District. It doesn't say in your advertisement that the property has a dining table and it doesn't appear in any of the photos. I thought that the only place to eat was at the breakfast bar but there is a space saving, folding dining table with 4 chairs stored underneath in the living room.

Very close to Churnet Valley railway which our son loved! Children enjoyed playing in the garden, and loved the playground two minutes walk away. (Garden is on a slope and has some fairly steep stone steps, so toddlers would need supervision.) Rotary washing line outdoors under cover of the carport so always dry! Kitchen small but well equipped. If eating with young children, recommend either taking a floor cover or eating in the garden or carport as we did (garden furniture available) as only space to set up the fold-down dining table is in the carpeted lounge. Local shop about 10mins walk and well stocked with essentials.

About the location

CHEDDLETON

Leek 3.5 miles; Stoke-on-Trent 9.2 miles; Alton 12 miles.

The lovely, traditional Staffordshire village of Cheddleton is situated in the Staffordshire Moorlands, near to the market town of Leek, with a handful of shops, pubs serving food and a lovely restaurant. Visit the nearby Churnet Valley Railway, originally opened in 1849, and now a lovely attraction for steam enthusiasts and families alike. The Cheddleton Flint Mill is a prime example of Staffordshire's industrial past, a flint-grinding watermill previously used for supplying the pottery industry further along the canal in Stoke-on-Trent. Nearby is Leek, surrounded by lovely moorland countryside. The town has a charming cobbled market place and many examples of fine Victorian architecture - a reminder of the town’s prosperity when it was renowned as a silk manufacturing centre. Today Leek offers a wide selection of shops including vast antique emporiums, bookshops and galleries and a good selection of restaurants and real ale pubs. Thrill seeking at Alton Towers which is easily accessible by car, a variety of walks, cycle routes, rock climbing on the Roaches and the area’s wealth of historic houses ensure visitors will be returning again and again!
