"Lovely cottage, very clean and cosy, underfloor heating and log burner a plus!"
Dog walk into adjacent field appreciated although wellies essential at this time of the year! Quiet location and adjacent Dray's cafe a bonus. Very much enjoyed our stay.

"A well situated cottage with a lovely cafe on site, which also allows dogs - which was good."
The cottage was well equipped and the underfloor heating worked well downstairs as we had a cold snap when we were there. Kitchen had everything we needed and great to have a dishwasher - a treat, as we don't have one at home!
Thank you for the lovely feedback! Property Owner

"My family and I had a lovely time."
The cottage is just perfect for a cosy stay. It’s a very well thought out place by the owners and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. It was so clean and well organised, which you should expect at any holiday cottage but over the years in staying in so many that has not been our experience. The dishwasher for me was such a bonus. The owners live a stones throw away which is fab if you need anything even if you don’t they are the nicest people to have a good chat with, but they also keep them selves to them selves you don’t feel at all that they are invading your holiday space. The cafe is a must with prices very reasonable, food spot on and it’s also a little shop that sells gift items. We have found ourselves a cottage we will definitely be returning to.
It was lovely to welcome you. Thank you for the lovely feedback Anne & Declan Property Owner

"A well appointed property in a convenient location for touring Cheshire."
We received a friendly and helpful welcome from the owner and found the cottage much as expected. The weather had changed significantly on the day of our arrival with much lower temperatures, and the cottage took a little while to warm up with the wood burning stove, underfloor heating, and partial central heating (upstairs) all on. As one would expect a little end of season maintenance is needed, but this did not detract and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

"Fantastic cottage, very clean & cosy."
Even with frosty evenings we didn't need the log burner as underfloor htg was so efficient. Great hosts, great location, the owners cafe was fab for Hot drinks, cakes etc looked yummy but didn't get to try them. Great find, will definitely be back. Thanks again.

"We needed a 10 day stay, whilst between houses and we were very happy indeed to have found The Shippon."
Anne and her team have thought of, quite literally, everything one might require, to make your stay here comfortable and enjoyable. The barn is beautifully converted and provides a cosy, warm and welcoming place to rest up. The underfloor heating is superbly effective but we did enjoy having the luxury of a log burner as well. The kitchen is very well equipped and the beds are comfortable, with excellent quality linen. Parking is plentiful and although we didn't get to use the on-site cafe, we heard excellent reports. Finding a holiday-let which actively welcomes our dog is an essential criterion in our choice of venue and he was particularly calm and comfortable in The Shippon. Thank you to Anne and all her team for providing us with such a lovely bolt hole, in our hour of need. Very highly recommended.

"Lovely location and superb surroundings."
We will definitely visit again. Information given to us prior to our stay was really good

"The Shippon is a very comfortable property and has everything required for a successful stay."
It is spotlessly clean, the double bed is extremely comfortable, there is constant hot water and the kitchen is very well-equipped. It was warm during our stay, so we didn’t require heating, but apparently the under-floor heating wasn’t functioning and if it had been cold, that might have been an issue. There is a log burner, but I would imagine most people wouldn’t feel like lighting this after a long journey. The hosts are unobtrusive, so one gets a lot of privacy, but they are on-site and very friendly and approachable, so it is perfectly easy to consult them if anything is needed. The hosts run a coffee shop which we didn’t get the chance of visiting, but reviews are excellent and I’m sure it’s well-worth patronising. Situated in the tranquil Cheshire countryside, the venue is very peaceful, very quiet, but very close to Tarporley which has everything one would need, including good restaurants, pubs, etc. Highly recommended.
Thank you for your feedback Christine. Just to clarify - the underfloor heating is working, it gets turned off during warmer months., back on during cooler months. I must have communicated that wrongly, sorry. Anne Property Owner

"A very comfortable modern cottage in a traditional shell."
We had a family reunion here on the Sunday and 10 of us didn't make the living space feel crowded, even though the cottage was only two bedrooms. The owner made us feel very welcome and having a coffee shop next door was an added bonus.

"We had a wonderful week at The Shippon in Eaton, Cheshire."
The cottage is in a lovely setting alongside the old farm house and is very comfortable with a well equipped kitchen and easy parking next to the cottage. We arrived on a dark, wet October evening to the welcome of a lit wood burner. The beds were very comfortable and we all slept well in the quiet surroundings. We were within easy striking distance of Chester and also enjoyed a wander around the nearby village of Tarporley. Eaton village is also a delight with its old thatched cottages. We were impressed ny the comfort and cleanliness of The Shippon and would certainly recommend it as a country base for visiting the sights of Cheshire.

The property
Set in Eaton, this pretty detached cottage in the north west of England, converted from a barn and set next to the owner's farmhouse.
Being in the north west, this property is in a great countryside location, but not too far from the livelier cities like Chester and Liverpool, so would be perfect for a group of friends who want to relax in nature, but indulge in an exciting day trip.
A warming woodburning fire is the first thing your eyes will be drawn to on entering the property and stepping into the open-plan living space, with a sitting area for you to cosy up in and dining area for four to sit around and maybe play a card game following a long day sight-seeing.
With underfloor heating throughout the ground floor, you won't worry if you've forgotten to pack your slippers in those winter months because you'll still be toasty warm.
Wander into the kitchen to find a stylish double oven with a sleek induction hob with a small breakfast bar for two for those early risers who like to make every minute of the day count!
Head on up the oak staircase to find the bedrooms - a king-size and a twin - both containing storage and featuring charming sloping ceilings, followed by the bathroom, containing a shower, basin and WC.
The outside lends itself ample space for off-road parking for two cars, and the property has its own little courtyard with table and chairs to use on those delightful summer evenings.
The village of Tarporley has lots to offer and has become a hub of activity with local businesses and shops prospering, as well as community events, like the annual Tarporley Carnival which sees a parade of villagers going up the High Street showcasing the best of the talents and creativity in the area.
For a lovely day trip, head on over to Chester, the historical Roman-walled city, famed for its picture-perfect Eastgate Clock, and the beautiful River Dee, so hire a pedal boat or take a boat trip and see the scenery from the water.
Whatever the reason for your trip, whether reuniting with old friends, or spending a romantic break with your partner, The Shippon will provide you with a homely base to explore the surrounding area.
Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £100.
