  • "Ferns was a Lovely easy place to stay, so comfortable and homely."

The garden gave us relaxation and our dog plenty of play time. The house was a well presented and clean holiday home. Ludlow was a walk away, beautiful historic town.

  • "We enjoyed our stay here as the location in Ludlow was excellent, and the garden is nice."

We thought the property was a little shabby for the amount we paid! The driveway is only suitable for a very small car, my Ford Focus is approx a Metre to long to park on it, but you can use the garage.

Close to the town, quiet area. Highly recommended

  • "Perfectly located property for easy flat access to Ludlow town centre."

Plenty of room to park the car directly outside the property. Fantastic large enclosed garden ideal for dogs and children to play safely. Only a couple of small issues, the bed frame in the main bedroom is a little noisy would benefit from the brackets being tightened and the bedrooms facing the garden could do with black out liners on the curtains. Overall this property is ideal for a stay in Ludlow with easy access to the A49 to explore further afield.

Great garden for the dog, it was big and secure which was great.

  • "A well appointed property in an ideal location."

Well looked after and with all the facilities we could have wanted. The huge garden was a great bonus especially during some beautiful weather.

  • "The Ferns is well situated within walking distance of Ludlow Town centre and has an extensive garden."

It has been sympathetically renovated in a traditional style with the added bonus of modern amenities. However, the listed 'off street parking' is too small for anything other than a Smart car or micro-mini, this should be more explicit. Also, whilst there is a lovely wood burner (with a fire made up ready, thanks) there are no fire dogs/tools (poker etc.).

  • "Had a really lovely stay, the cottage was cosy and had been done really nicely."

Comfy beds and plenty of space. Garden is quite big - just a shame we couldn't enjoy it properly due to the constant rain! Can imagine it'll be so nice sitting out there in the summer. Driveway is too small for a normal sized car but we just parked across the gate which was fine.

  • "An ideal location to explore Ludlow and Shropshire."

Easy to walk into Ludlow itself to enjoy the facilities there. The property was clean and tidy when we arrived. All the bedrooms were freshly made up. A small welcome 'hamper' of essential groceries would have been appreciated. The property was cold (we went at the end of February) so the heating could have been turned up on arrival day from the 5°C to help warm it through for us. The wood burner was a lovely addition however fireproof gloves, a poker and tongs would have been helpful. And a washing machine would have been nice only because of the wintery weather when we visited.

  • "The only criticism is the parking, the brief states off road parking, but only a very small car could be accommodated."

overall, lovely house and gardens in close proximity to Ludlow town centre

  • "Really enjoyed our stay ."

Cottage has been refurbished well and liked the fact many original features have been kept such as fireplaces, tiles and lime walls . Modern well equipped kitchen . The only thing my husband who is 6ft 2” would have liked is a larger bed , but we still slept very well . Great location 10 mins walk to visit relatives and into town centre .

  • "Comfortable, well-appointed and within easy strolling distance of the centre of Ludlow."

It's also spacious and light with everything you need thoughtfully provided for a hassle-free stay. Three comfy beds, a modern kitchen and a classy woodturner complete a 'cottage' that makes an ideal base for Ludlow and the surrounding countryside. We would happily stay again.

We are so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay at the Ferns. Thank you . Property Owner

  • "The property is in need of some TLC - or in the case of The Ferns - it remains in the process of a major refurbishment."

The shower is not great and we had to get the owner to call in a plumber as the bath was leaking down into the kitchen below and the back garden needs tidying up.

  • "We had a great stay in Ludlow."

We have for many year looked for a nice cottage to rent here as we have family who live close by and this one ticked all of the boxes. Small improvements would be have access to a washing machine if staying with children, more than one tea towel and a little welcome milk in the fridge for a cuppa after a long drive. Otherwise it was spot on and we will definitely book again as we regularly visit Ludlow.

  • "We had a lovely family short break in Ludlow (although the weather was against us)."

The property is actually even nicer than it appears on the photos. It was clean and comfortable and had character. The large secure walled garden was great for our dog and the kids to run around in. We had everything we needed and it’s only a short walk from town. The stairs really are very steep so would not be suitable for anyone with mobility problems or very young kids however we found it was quite easy to keep doors shut to block access. The off road parking space is small and only just fitted our estate car. Parking on the road is very tight. There is lots of good walking locally. Our dog had a great time running around at Mortimer Forest. To push it to 5 star it would be nice to have some local products as a welcome gift, given Ludlow is known as a foodie town, and for a longer family stay the ability to wash and dry clothes. It also seems a shame not to make more of the garden as it is such a lovely space but currently doesn’t really have any planting.

  • "Great location and overall a nice place to stay but we felt the accommodation could do with an update especially considering the price charged."

The kitchen is modern and well-stocked, the garden is enclosed and mainly grass so it was great for our two toddlers and dog to play in. However, wouldn’t say this is a great place for families with young children though because of the steep staircase. The addition of a stair gate would help make this more family friendly. We felt that upstairs could do with an update. There’s only one toilet in the house and the flush was a bit temperamental. I’ve given 3 stars for comfort as despite other reviews stating they’re comfortable, we found the beds were on the short side! I highly recommend The Mill on the Green for breakfast and a great spot for paddling in the river.
