  • "Did not even stay one night."

Enhanced pictures showed light and bright rooms, actual dull and gloomy. Beds soft, traffic noise very invasive settee too low and soft to sit on.slatted dining chairs too uncomfortable to sit on no cushions. Drive extremely hard to negotiate with pots and statue.

We were dissapointed that you did not stop longer than the 30 minutes you did, or you may have found it a little different. When you arrive late on a dull day, rooms are going to appear gloomy, but included in the cost are the light switches in each room, which when utilised, make an illuminating difference to the lighting levels. I would like to thank you for perfectly re making the beds after you had tried them, you managed to arrange everything as it was before you arrived. The settee is of a standard design, if you had told us about any special special requirements you had, we would have done our best to accomodate you. The dining chairs have cushions which are stored in the adjacent cupboard, which you sadley missed. As far as access to the property goes, we have had guests with transit sized camper vans, who, like us, have negotiated the entrance without problem and have found no issues with either the pots or the statue. Perhaps your particular mobility needs simply did not align with the available accomodation. We wish you all the best with your future holidays. Property Owner

Very comfortable and plenty of things to do mostly within a 20-30 minute drive. Owner was very friendly. Nice pub nearby but a shame it doesn’t do food. Fish and chip shop over the road but we didn’t actually try it. Only downside was the proximity of the road and there was almost a constant stream of lorry’s which didn’t really stop even through the night. Didn’t really disturb sleep but a bit annoying. All in all a nice stay.

It is lovey and clean and very homely! The only downside is it is right on a main road and the bedroom windows back onto this, there is nothing the owners can do about this, it is just how it is but light sleepers may struggle. Garden is beautifully maintained and hot tub was a wonderful treat. We visited Cadbury world which is around a 40 minute drive away and went into Tamworth but there was nothing to report there! We used local take aways Istanbul bbq and curry pot, both delivered and were very reasonably priced. Owners are very attentive and were quick to respond to any messages we sent regarding arrival and the heating in the home. Lovely little stay

The owner is lovely and very helpful. However the standout has to be the little courtyard garden that is just beautiful. We ate our chippy tea in the summerhouse and absolutely loved the hot-tub. There's plenty to do in the area. The interior of the bungalow is a little dated, but everything was very clean, comfortable and in working order, so that wasn't a problem. We'd recommend this property to anybody looking to visit South Derbyshire.

The hot tub didn't look clean and there were numerous dead bugs floating around in it which was very off putting. The place would be tight for four guests as the second room has a small double bed which wouldn't be ideal for 2 adults. If you're staying please take extra towels for the hot tub. A nice welcome pack on arrival was greatly appreciated as was the information folder in the cottage. Plenty to do and see in the local area. Though located next to a main road the traffic noise mentioned in previous customer feedback was not an issue to us. The hot tub was clean, relaxing and a nice temperature. The only suggestion would be a pergola type construction with a perspex roof so that the hot tub could still be enjoyed even when the 'good old British weather' turns a little murky. A clean and well presented space. The hot tub was a lovely bonus that we used daily and really made the stay. It has everything 2-4 people could need to enjoy a stay with loads of places nearby to visit and convenient takeaway and local Co-Op you can walk to as well. The garden in particular I imagine is stunning in summer. The only issue (and one that cannot be changed or helped) is the noise from the road next to the property. I am a heavy sleeper so this did not bother me but may be a consideration for light sleepers looking at staying. The bathroom door handle also needs looking at as it get stuck and is really hard to turn (it will turn but may take a few attempts). Overall though it is great value for all that you get and I would stay again.

Only small issues could be fixed, updated. I would have got rid of mismatching cutlery, add an extra dinner sets. Small details in the grand scheme of things. The good things are everything else, space inside and out. location, hosts helped out when needed and full of knowledge, Nikkie couldn't do enough and filled o Internet gap while they were changing suppliers. The surroundings amazing, out in the countryside, Less than an hour from larger towns, even closer to local shops. I would without a doubt return to Bramble cottage, it's far enough away for peice and quiet, (apart from road noise when outside). The hot tub is big enough for 4, lovely quiet summer house, comfortable seatng inside, bed rooms not to big, but big enough for purpose, which is for 4 people. So, here is where I can say a big thank you for allowing us to stay in your beautiful cottage, good luck for the future and hopefully, fingers crossed we would love to return.

.. it was booked for a birthday celebration and chosen due to it having a hot tub. My daughters were very excited! Unfortunately the hot tub wasn’t available on the first night as they had changed the water from the last visitors and said it would still be cold. I understand that during COVID-19 extra precautions are needed but perhaps they should leave a day between each booking so the hot tub is available? They did kindly offer to let us use their hot tub which is located outside their house but it didn’t feel private and we felt awkward about using it. The second issue was the duvets on the beds. They are made of plastic and presumably there Incase visitors wet the bed. They are incredibly hot and slide down to the end of the covers in a big lump! We all slept badly on night 1 and in the morning I removed them from the covers and we slept just with sheets over us on night 2. Had I known, I would’ve brought our own duvets and would do so if we returned. Other than that we had an enjoyable stay. It has a lovely courtyard style garden which makes for a very relaxing area on a nice weather day. The little summer house is also cute and a nice addition. We ate our evening meal here. The cottage is well equipped and cosy. The host is lovely and very welcoming x

  • "Cottage was very nice and clean."

The only reason we booked though was for the hot tub, which was massively disappointing. Was told it was checked and maintained daily on arrival but on the second day in it there was a lot of brown scum and black hairs floating to the top when the bubbles were turned on, nobody in our family has black hair and we certainly aren't unclean and had showered beforehand. On the 3rd day my wife had planned her day around relaxing in the hot tub but when she went to use it and opened the lid it hadn't been cleaned, the water was green and it smelt terribly (like cabbage) and so was totally unusable. She knocked on the door of the owners but there was nobody in so she called the mobile number supplied to us and there was no answer, so she left a voicemail message. The call wasn't returned so she sent a text to the same number letting them know of the issue but there was no reply at all from the owners so she went out for the day instead. The next morning was check-out. I had a look at the hot tub and it was still in the same condition as the previous day. When handing the key over to the owner, she said that her husband had replied to the text saying that we could use their own hot tub. Neither my wife or I received this text message nor a phone call back regarding this. It wouldn't have been an option anyway due to the lack of privacy. She said that the hot tub should be self cleaning and asked if we had showered before using it or had creams on us that could have caused the issue. It was October so we definitely haven't used any sun creams, plus we have used hot tubs many times and have never experienced this issue before so it was definitely not down to us. Unfortunately, this issue ruined the stay so we wouldn't return. Regards Matthew Mitchell

The main thing what annoyed me is the fact that you advertise that there is a gym with this cottage, yet when we got there and asked about it I was told that the facilities were broken and awaiting to be fixed by sykes... I wasn't prewarned about this and I had prepared myself to work out while I was there. I believe this to be false advertising and that we should be entitled to some sort of compensation. Apart from this, I couldn't fault the hosts. They were very welcoming and practically didn't exist between saying hello and goodbye, they made it feel very private. Saying this they did let us know that they would be available if we needed any assistance with anything. Also, it was really nice to chill in the tub despite being right next to a busy main road but we did look this up and expected it.

We wanted the cottage for a relaxing weekend of hot tubs, box sets on our now TV box that we took as the property had wifi and to make use of the gym facilities... the wifi didnt work for streaming or sending of messages even though it had a minimum of 1 bar signal. The cottage could use some blinds for privacy as we had to keep all curtains drawn. Sykes have this cottage down as a 2 bathroom, the cottage has one. When we asked the host where the gym was we were advised that Sykes had been asked to remove the gym as it had been removed due to damaged equipment. Very clean. Owners who lived next door very friendly but had the respect of leaving me to my own devices which I liked but knew where they were if needed. Enjoyed my relaxiing stay.

  • "We booked this place for our honeymoon week away with our 2yr old son and we was pleasantly surprised how amazing this little cottage was, we was shown around by the owners who live onsite, asked that if we needed any additional help to contact them and did not see them until dropping the keys in on the final day, They do not bother you at all and very friendly."

The cottage is well equipped and the hot tub is amazing and so relaxing. The Admiral chip shop across the road was nice and local shops wasn't that far. Closest supermarkets however are around 15/20 drive away. We visited Tamworth Castle, Twycross Zoo, Ashby de la Zouch Castle and The National Brewery Centre In Burton-Upon-Trent during our stay. We would also recommend The Cricketts Inn pub, about a mile and a half away for eating out, lovely food and excellent customer service. On reflection we would book this cottage again from Mr & Mrs Moore. Thank you a relaxing honeymoon. Regards Mr & Mrs Thompson
