"Really lovely cottage, in an excellent location with great facilities."
Calke abbey is walking distance, which was great. Really handy having two car parking spaces. Was really easy to find following the directions. The third floor is quite tricky to get up there if you're tall, a great space for children if they're quite independent. We had two babies with us and while the space was great to have, getting them up and down was hard. But older kids would absolutely love this space, great set up for them!
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us such a lovely review. We are so glad you enjoyed the cottage and the surrounding countryside with your family. Many thanks, Laurence & Hayley Property Owner

"36 main street cottage was stunning."
The attention to detail and the commodities made our break perfect. The owners were very helpful and friendly. The beds were as comfortable as any I have slept in before. I would certainly recommend and will hopefully stay again sometime.
Thank you so much for such lovely feedback. It’s lovely to hear you enjoyed your stay at the cottage. We will hopefully see you all again soon. Many thanks, Laurence & Hayley Property Owner

"Cottage was lovely and clean but a very overpowering smell of air freshener in each room."
We took a dog as it said ‘an enclosed garden’ but the details failed to mention there was a walk to the garden down an unsecured path, as a result we had to accompany the dog each time to the garden and were unable to leave the back door open. The loft rooms were absolutely boiling but fans provided did help in some way to reduce the temperature. We accidentally left our bag of dirty washing and we paid for postage but then paid another £25 on top for the effort on the hosts part. Hosts were unhelpful and irritated by this inconvenience. They were also difficult to get hold of.
Hi Rachel, Thank you for your feedback. We are glad you thought the cottage was lovely and you enjoyed the secret garden. From your note in the guest book we can see you really enjoyed your stay. Hayley did go above and beyond to reunite you with your clothing which you accidentally placed in the neighbours black bin however I think the confusion came because they had been put in the neighbours bin and this wasn’t initially communicated by your guest Christian when he called us. Due to this we had to visit the property twice and search four of the neighbours black bins which obviously wasn’t a pleasant task. Once we located your items Hayley packaged them up, printed out a label and waited in for your courier to pick them up. she was in communication with Christian constantly. Which in all meant Hayley spent several hours of her own time to do. The plug in air freshener is located in the kitchen and can always be switched off by any guest if disliked. As you mentioned fans are provided for all rooms and all windows do open but due to you visiting on the hottest days of the year it was very stuffy in the evenings, this is something out of our control unfortunately. Many thanks, Laurence Property Owner

"We had a lovely 2 night stay in this beautiful cottage while attending our son’s graduation from Loughborough University."
The cottage was well equipped, spacious and immaculately clean. We were blessed with warm, sunny weather and the secret garden was the perfect place to sit and unwind in the evening sun. The road outside seemed a bit busy at first but once inside the cottage there was very little noise to be heard at all. There are also some lovely walking routes straight from the cottage towards Calke Abbey. Enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend.
Thank you for your lovely review and congratulations to your son. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and you got the sunshine. Thanks Laurence and Hayley. Property Owner

"A perfect location for our get together."
A beautifully appointed and stylish cottage, it had everything we needed. Two spacious double rooms and two cosy single rooms. We enjoyed a drink in the sunshine in the secret garden to plan our activities. Plenty to see and do in the local area, The Ferrars Centre and Garden centre were a highlight, Melbourne was great for shopping. Dinner at the Staff of Life, within walking distance of the cottage, was really good. And Calke Abbey just up the road. The owners of the cottage were very accommodating and let us know they were on hand should we need anything. Clean and comfortable - we highly recommend this cottage as a lovely place to stay.
Thank you! We really appreciate such great feedback and we are so happy the cottage was everything you needed for your get together. Hayley & Laurence Property Owner

"We had a wonderful stay at 36 Main Street!"
The cottage is beautiful and has all the facilities you could possibly need. The owners were fabulous and very accommodating too. The bottle of wine waiting for us on arrival was a nice added touch! Would happily stay again.

"This cottage is a beautiful place to stay, everything you need is provided."
Home away from home. Supermarket located in town of Melbourne is a good place to grab some groceries. I would highly recommend this cottage. One thing that was missing, a washing machine since we were travelling from Canada, would have been a nice feature to have, other than that I will give the property a 10/10

"My group of nerdy friends really enjoyed staying in the cottage for a weekend, as we don't get to meet up very often."
We enjoyed the full TV package with loads of movies, a big dining room table for eating and playing board games and nice local scenery for walks. Pros: Cosy Modern Well furnished Good amenities Neutral: Only one bathroom on the middle floor Loud traffic but only really when having a window open Cons: Bitten by bed bugs No local shop within walking distance I'm giving a rating of 4/5, everything was great but my sleep was really impacted because of being bitten throughout the night.
Hi David, Thank you for your review, we are glad you enjoyed meeting up with your friends and your stay at the cottage. I would also like to assure you that both myself and my cleaner have throughly checked all the beds, bedding and furniture as we do for each and every hand over and I can confirm there are no bed bugs. The cottage is cleaned to an extremely high standard. We sterilise all bedding with an antibacterial cleaner and deep clean all furniture on every change over and we are regularly reviewed 5/5 for our cleanliness as you can see from our previous reviews. Many thanks, Laurence & Hayley Property Owner

"A lovely modernised to a high standard cottage."
Spotlessly clean. Well equipped. Superb position for lovely walks. The only down side was traffic noise which affected our sleep. We live at the end of a no through lane so just not used to traffic.

"A lovely house renovated to a very high standard."
No expense has been spared in the decor and equipment which makes it a joy to live in. The ceilings are VERY low. I'm 6"6' and spent most of the time bent double but not an issue once you get used to it. It's on a very busy road but the windows have been done in such a way that you're never bothered by the noise. All in all, a very pleasant stay!
Thank you for taking the time to leave such a lovely review. Due to the age and character of the Cottage there are a couple of low beams but we are glad you enjoyed your stay. Thank you Laurence & Hayley. Property Owner

"A lovely well equipped cottage ."
Quality equipment in the cottage with everything you need for a pleasant stay .Table set on arrival with a complementary bottle of wine .Tea bags and coffee and a enough wood for the fire on the first night all a welcome touch. Well designed and decorated. Plenty of walks around the Calke Abbey estate 10 minutes away . Great communication from the owner.
Thank you for such lovely feedback. We hope to see you again soon. Team 36 Main Street, The Cottage Property Owner

"We had a really lovely stay from beginning to end."
The accommodation is really homely and has everything you might need. Was also a very thoughtful Welcome Pack, including something for the dog. There was even a hose in the secret garden to wash down our very muddy dog after walks! Laurence was really friendly and quick to respond to any queries during initial settling in as well as offered great recommendations. Both pubs, within walking distance, were very friendly yet very different. The people in the village couldn’t have been more friendly. The main road is surprisingly busy but did not detract from our stay. Great walks locally and plenty to see further afield too. Melbourne Hall and Pool walk is well worth a visit, as is Calke Abbey and Foremark Park and reservoir. We would definitely be back!
Thank you for your lovely feedback, having grown up and lived in the village it’s also lovely to hear that you found everyone to be friendly and welcoming. We hope to see you again soon, Team No.36 The Cottage. Property Owner

"No 36 is a very comfortable cottage in a lovely village."
It is tastefully and calmly decorated. We stayed there over Christmas and the the cottage was so well equipped we were able to cook Christmas dinner with ease. Plenty of plates and cutlery, decent equipment. Although situated on the 'Main' road it is quiet inside and felt private. I would recomend this cottage.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us your lovely feedback and for being wonderful guests at The Cottage. We hope to see you again in the future. Team No. 36 Main Street The Cottage. Property Owner
