  • "As soon as I walked in and saw the stair ."

thought WOW. The place is lovely and the rooms are massive. I think a couple of rooms could have a single bed for children. They could have more people in there, especially on the top floor . The garden is lovely and the view fantastic. The patios are massive and the hot tub fabulous. It is one of the loveliest places I have stayed. The dog loved it too. The only thing which could improve is not a big enough room for the pool table the fellas said. Could not push their arms back enough to hit the ball properly. Also only one set of keys

  • "Lovely house, large airy rooms and private dog proof garden furnished to an acceptable standard."

I’ve never stayed anywhere with so much storage space and hundreds of hangers! We were a party of 6 adults, 4 children aged 6 months- 7 years and 2 dogs so we felt comfortable with that standard. However, although there was a large kitchen with lots of storage space there was only a standard sized fridge large enough for 2-3 people but ridiculously small for 10! One of the beds was propped up on a breeze block and dipped in the middle. (Very poor considering what we paid for the week.) There were also a lot of little niggles for example: dripping taps, curtains needing rehanging and a sloping shelf in one of the bathrooms. Having said all that it is a very pleasant place to stay and would stay again.

  • "Whilst the stay was great and the property spacious and perfect for our needs, there were a few errors in the listing - No Study , no Air hockey, another description (not seen until after booking) states "en suite" in every bedroom - 2 are not ( including the enormous bedroom on the second floor)."

The hot tub was marvellous and there was a children's play area not in the description which had a swing, slide, climbing frame and trampoline. There were a few signs of maintenance needed - several light bulbs needed; pool table equipment needs looking at and most importantly, the electric gate often jammed (caused by a rogue switch mechanism on the bottom of the gate- easily fixable but only from inside!) We were not put off by any of the above, it felt like a home from home ( only much bigger), we were sad to leave the house at the end of the week and would unhesitatingly return and recommend, Children ( who had to be dragged out to go on excursions) and dog were well catered for.

About the location

RENISHAW

Worksop 9.9 miles; Sheffield 11.5 miles; Doncaster 22 miles.

Nestled in the scenic northern reaches of Derbyshire, Renishaw is a picturesque village renowned for its rich history and, most notably, the historic Renishaw Hall. The village, originally documented as Ravenshorn in the Domesday Book of 1086, traces its roots back to its agricultural origins, potentially marking the beginnings of iron founding as early as the 11th Century. Renishaw Hall, a grand testament to the enduring legacy of the Sitwell Family, stands proudly as a hallmark of the village. Constructed in 1625 by George Sitwell, the Sitwells' association with the land extends for over 800 years, originating in the nearby village of Eckington. It was Roger Sitwell who, in 1530, strategically acquired land abundant in coal and iron, laying the groundwork for the family's prosperity. George Sitwell and his son Francis emerged as pioneers of the Industrial Revolution, handling a significant portion of the nation's iron trade by the mid-17th Century. Renishaw became a global powerhouse, manufacturing the majority of the world's iron nails. Beyond the historical landmarks within the village, the surrounding areas offer an array of activities and attractions. Nature enthusiasts can explore the scenic countryside with walks and cycling routes, immersing themselves in the beauty of Derbyshire's landscapes. Additionally, the proximity to Eckington provides an opportunity to delve further into the Sitwell family history and its lasting impact on the region. Renishaw, with its blend of history, natural beauty, and cultural significance, continues to captivate residents and visitors alike, offering a unique window into Derbyshire's storied past and a tranquil escape in the present.
