The house configuration works well for us - 6 adults & 2 small children. We hired a boat for a day at Whixall marine - had a lovely time. Comfortable bedrooms. Lots to do in area so visteid aqueduct, ironworks in Oswestry, walk around Brown Moss, breakfast at Marina. House well equipped BUT need a bottle opener, can opener, tray & serving dishes plus soap and shampoo in bathrooms.

The kitchen was really well equipped with plenty of crockery and cutlery. The biscuits were a nice touch on arrival. A great location and so nice to have the marina to walk to for a coffee in the morning . If we had a slight negative comment would be that to sit 8 adults comfortably in one lounge area so we could all be together was a tight squeeze and not that comfortable. We moved a couple of chairs though from the bedrooms so it certainly wasn’t a negative comment and if needed there is the other lounge area ( we all wanted to sit together) Other that that a great stay in a wonderful house.

  • "Very comfortable stay."

No complaints. The Marina cafe is next door so very close by but shuts at 3 or 4pm and the nearest pubs or shops are a drive away. Sykes website description should be amended regarding bathrooms. There are 2 ensuite bedrooms with toilet and shower, one bathroom with shower over the bath and toilet which is shared by 2 bedrooms, one of which has direct access to it. The remaining "bathroom" is a cloakroom toilet downstairs with no shower or bath.

LOVED the cleanliness of the house and the fact it was so well equipped - it was just perfect and a true home from home. This was booked as a surprise for my wife’s special birthday and I know how particular she can be, but needn’t of worried as she loved the house, the beautiful decor and the furnishings. Communications when booking were seamless - thank you so much.

  • "Forrester House was used as a pre-Christmas gathering for myself and my partner, and his family."

His family are spread out across all corners of the country and we took the week to reconnect with each other. The house was perfectly suited to our needs as a family of 7, plus dog - areas to be close and spend quality time with each other, and areas to hide away and escape. Our favourite room was the small lounge (we nicknamed it 'The Snug'). The utility room was ideal for dog owners post-walk, especially if your pooches like to get a bit muddy! All bedrooms were very spacious, as well as the en-suites and bathrooms. The kitchen is well-equipped with everything you need, and the Christmas tree was a nice nod to the festive time of year. The house is well presented, down to the decor and the layout of each room. We enjoyed exploring the local area's towns and villages during our stay. On departure, there were many tears, and we don't know when the next time all of us will be all together again - but they were happy tears, filled with the memories we created as a family. Thank you to Lou and her fantastic team! We will never forget our time at Forrester House.

We arrived on the Friday of a heat wave so stayed on site initially and made best use of the outdoor space with the kids. Went to the Marina on the Sunday for lunch - was a nice spot and only a 2 min stroll. Beds weren't too firm for us but after entertaining 3 kids all day and a few wines at night, sleep is never an issue (until said kids wake us in the night!). Had lovely days out at Hoo Zoo and BeWILDerwood - both recommended (to tire out said kids). Property was ace, spacious, biggest property we've stayed in, no issues. Decor was fantastic, though sadly my partner now wants me to redecorate half our house because it was so lovely. Had a great stay, would stay again. Thank you.

There were additional things for the dog like mats and bowls which we had brought with us because we didn't know they were available. The kitchen was well equipped. The house is in a nice area and we enjoyed a day trip down the canals from the marina. We found the food shops in Ellesmere better than Whitchurch which seemed to be largely closed on a Saturday apart from the Supermarkets. We booked for the weekend and had a great time celebrating two family birthdays. The heating is effective but we did find that it was either very warm or not hot enough. some instructions on how to set the thermostat or the radiators would be helpful. To improve the experience, much better towels would be of benefit. The property details say that bedding and towels are supplied - but in reality you get a hand towel and one a bit smaller each - you really need a bigger towel (like a bath sheet). smaller issue is that the tea towels are poor quality and be great if there was an apron. It's obviously a new renovation and will require some tweaking - it;s not cheap to hire and the interior design is spectacular - for the towels and some instructions for the heating and it'd be just about perfect.
