• "This was our second stay at chapel cottage, it's clean comfortable and in a lovely village , the locals are friendly and having the shop , cafe and fish n chip shop is very handy and close by ."

  The only thing for us this time , as went early in march was the timing of the heating in the morning, we are awake early around 5 a.m and couldn't have the heat on until 7 a.m so it was chilly in the morning . Other than that we would recommend this lovely cottage

• "The cottage was absolutely beautiful and very well equipped and really clean."

  Garden was lovely and we were disappointed that the weather was so cold we couldn't take advantage of it. The only negative was the quilt on the single bed. As we weren't a couple,( mother and adult daughter) my daughter found it rather small. Maybe I should have made this clear on booking. We were lucky we had brought a throw with us. However I'd give the booking 99% score.

  Beautiful example of maintaining historic character with modern facilities; all high quality. And so spacious - even a Utility room and an intriguing little nook for leisurely breakfasts in the sunshine. And the additional upstairs loo, hidden in a cupboard. Amazing. Add to that, the friendliest village and totally dog-orientated pubs and cafes, and you have a recipe for happy holiday makers, two and four=legged ones. Thank you.

  The location is superb with excellent pub - Dysart Arms, cafe and shop close; the house is full of character and beauty; the facilities spot on. Only one thing would help - a bit of personal knowledge of walks and places to visit in the house book would be nice.

• "A lovely cosy cottage in a lovely village."

  Very well equipped and comfortable. My only issue was the high sides of the bath made it slightly challenging to get in and out of the shower. I've only short legs! The local pub The Nag's Head is very welcoming to both humans and dogs and the good food is very reasonably priced.

• "Chapel Cottage is an absolutely superb property and nestled within the lovely village of Bunbury."

  The cottage is very well furnished, throughout. The kitchen is well equipped with the usual utensils, crockery, microwave, fridge/freezer, etc and has an efficient cooker. The downstairs bathroom is spacious and has a large bath with overhead shower. There is an upstairs toilet, housed in a small "cupboard", which is excellent for any night time visits to the loo!!!!!! The garden is a sun trap! There is a table and chairs and parasol outside - we enjoyed being out there reading, enjoying a cuppa, enjoying the shade from the sun, with little or no noise from outside. Bunbury is a delighful village. It has a Co-op, three pubs and a tea room behind the cottage. We were not disappointed with Chapel Cottage. There's a very interesting historical account of it, in the visitor handbook. Visited 1st -8th Sept.

• "This is the best and most beautiful cottage I have ever stayed in - and I’ve stayed in many!"

  Gives the Landmark Trust a run for its money, certainly. Immaculate, with so much thought into finding the right pieces to fit the spaces. Gorgeous opening original casements too - dreamy! In a perfect village with Tilly’s cafe next door, fabulous pub and beautiful church. I take my hat off to you!

• "Great accommodation with everything you need for an enjoyable stay ."

  Cottage is bigger than the pictures and is set in a central part of a beautiful village with everything you need . Great walks with the dog to Bunbury locks and along the canal and a scenic walk to Penkforton castle and Beeston Castle. Choice of great pubs: Nags Head, lovely local, Dysert Arms and Yew Tree for beer gardens and good food , although a little more expensive. Great chippy and local Co/op store for essentials. Great location , great cottage.

• "Our 4th visit to this charming cottage."

  Very picturesque with its thatched roof and pretty garden. A well equipped cottage featuring the old part and the new modern bathroom and kitchen. Bunbury is a very friendly village with a supermarket 5 mins walk away. Also a choice of pubs to suit all tastes. The Hollies farm shop is only a short drive on the A49. Well worth a visit. We will be back.

  The cottage is beautiful and has everything you could need for a wonderful stay. We were able to enjoy breakfast in the beautiful garden and watch the birds in the bird bath in the front. The village is lovely with some nice walks. It has three pubs, a co-op, a fish and chip shop and a really lovely cafe everything you need. I would recommend this cottage to all family and friends.

• "Chapel cottage is absolutely beautiful!"

  It has to be the cleanest and most cosy cottage we have ever stayed in and we book 2 or more cottage holidays per year! Everything was thoughtfully and tastefully presented with everything we needed. As keen historians and home renovators ourselves, we particularly enjoyed reading the history of the cottage and seeing the renovation photos.We will definitely book Chapel cottage again. • "Beautiful old cottage set on a main road."

  Grade 2 listed so single pane glass. A little noisy from road traffic but makes up for it in its beauty. The kitchen is very well equipped, and the washer /dryer was very useful. The cottage had oil central heating. There is a log burner in the lounge, which will be very cosy in autumn. Our dog loved the back garden which is fenced in with a table and chairs with a large parking space behind. The village is very friendly. The chippy does very good fish and chips. The butchers made Lamb Henry for us to bring home. The Nags head is a good pub. The Co-Op is well stocked . A very restful break away. Home from home. I have booked again for September.

• "Beautiful cottage with good local amenities within walking distance and in a perfect spot for getting out and about on foot and in the car."

  Very comfortable and extremely relaxing which was just what we needed. We ate at the Dysart Arms who were able to give me a full allergy menu, which made for a much more relaxed meal for me, and the Nags Head, more a local pub but very welcoming and reasonable food, would recommend both. The cottage has everything you could need, although I couldn't find instructions on how to use the halogen cooker I still put a very tasty Sunday morning breakfast on the table. The bath is amazing and would recommend you take some bubbles with you and make the most of it if you've spent the day out walking, perfect way to end the day.

• "Our second visit to the delightful Chapel Cottage in the charming village of Bunbury didn't disappoint."

  The owners sent us a message to let us know that the cottage was ready early for us, which was a nice gesture and milk, tea, coffee and biscuits were a nice welcome on arrival. This dog friendly property has everything you need for a comfortable stay. With off road parking for one car. Bunbury is a lovely village well located for exploring Cheshire and into North Wales. It has three dog friendly pubs that all do good food. There is also a village chippy, cafe, butchers/deli and a very handy Co-op store all very close to the property. We highly recommend Chapel Cottage and we're sure that once you've stayed you'll return as we have and will again in the future.

• "The christmas lights and decorations that were on when we arrived were a lovely welcoming sight and the milk in the fridge with tea, coffee and biscuits was a lovely gesture."

  Chapel cottage is charming, characterful very comfortable and homely, with everything we needed. It was spotlessly clean and a credit to the owners. Bunbury itself is a lovely village with three dog friendly pubs, we only used The Nags Head a short walk away , which was very welcoming with an extensive menu of good pub grub. The local Co-op is just a short walk and is very convenient. Bunbury is a great base to explore Cheshire and North Wales from and Chapel Cottage the perfect place to stay. In fact we've already booked to return.

• "On our arrival we found Chapel Cottage to be very clean & well presented & the wide off road parking was a bonus over many cottages we have hired in the past."

  We didnt need to contact the owners during the week as everything worked as it should. Bunbury is a lovely friendly village with interesting old buildings, especially upper Bunbury. Chapel cottage is in a good location but the main road that passes the end of the cottage is quite busy. We made good use of the friendly Co-Op & the Nags Head pub but found the Dysart a bit pretentious IMO, £9.35 for a pint & a coke. Probably priced to keep the rif-raf away, it certainly worked as we didnt go back. The village chippy has a good reputation but was sadly closed whilst we were there. The gardens were well tended & the back patio area was a lovely suntrap but could be a bit noisy from the road traffic & people stopping to talk just over the hedge but it was quite interesting listening to the local gossip. We made lots of use of the lovely kitchen but it could do with some extra basic utensils such as plastic spoons & masher etc. Lovely downstairs bathroom with good bath & shower but the shiny floor tiles were a bit slippery when wet & would benefit from a proper bath mat, the upstairs WC was quite novel & felt a bit like going to the loo in a cupboard. The cottage is advertised as a two bedroom suitable for 4 people & has dining seating for six, it has a double bed in one bedroom & two singles in the other but the lounge has only a two seater sofa & a single rocking chair & a dining chair so there wasn`t adequate comfortable seating for four adults. We went as a couple but had made the offer to my son & his wife to visit us at the cottage but on finding that there was insufficient comfortable practical seating we had to sadly withdraw the offer. As I stated in the cottage visitors book another two seater sofa in the lounge would solve the issue & provide comfortable seating to sit & enjoy the big TV & the wood burning stove in the evening. My comments are my personal opinion & meant to be informative & constructive & we would love to return to Chapel cottage if they were taken onboard by the owners.

• "Lovely cottage, and we enjoyed our stay , our only issue was that there was nothing visable to say that dogs were not allowed upstairs unfortunately."

  ( only written on a page in the middle of a book which if you dont look at you dont see it ) We think they need to provide a stair gate if this is the case as the stairs are fully open in the middle of the property

  Was just a little frustrated that there was never enough hot water to have a decent bath. There was an amazing huge bath in the bathroom but never more than a couple of inches of hot water!! Other than that we had a great few days away and would definitely go back again.

• "We enjoyed a lovely, relaxing week in this gorgeous thatched cottage."

  Very well maintained and presented in a tranquil little village. The cottage itself had almost everything we needed. There's a notice asking that guests don't let their pets go upstairs. Thankfully we'd taken a baby gate with us, otherwise I don't know how we'd have managed that. A wooden gate at the bottom of the stairs would be a good addition to the cottage for this reason. The cottage has a large front and back garden which is surrounded by walls and hedges. Whilst the garden is flat and safe for children/dogs, the hedges between the garden and pavement do have some small gaps in them and our dog managed to get through onto the road. Some additional netting/fencing in the hedges would make this more secure. The village had two pubs within a short walking distance of the cottage. Both offered takeaway food if you didn't want to eat in, which was very nice. The local butchers and village chippy were also great, and there's a little co-op for other groceries/essentials.
