  • "This was our second stay at chapel cottage, it's clean comfortable and in a lovely village , the locals are friendly and having the shop , cafe and fish n chip shop is very handy and close by ."

The only thing for us this time , as went early in march was the timing of the heating in the morning, we are awake early around 5 a.m and couldn't have the heat on until 7 a.m so it was chilly in the morning . Other than that we would recommend this lovely cottage

The property

This charming, Grade II listed 17th century thatched cottage rests in the idyllic village of Bunbury in Cheshire, with good transport links to the cities of Chester, Manchester and Liverpool.

The cottage has been lovingly-restored to provide a comfortable holiday accommodation for families and friends, whilst preserving the character of a 350-year-old building.

The cosy sitting room is atmospheric and the oldest part of the cottage, complete with 17th century oak beams, original tiled flooring and a woodburning stove, perfect for a cosy night in on the sofa.

The kitchen provides an ample selection of appliances to assist you throughout your stay, whilst the well-presented dining room offers a formal environment to enjoy your meals.

Upstairs rests the two well-presented bedrooms: a double and a twin which is ideal for younger guests.

Enjoy a lawned garden to the front of the property, with an alternative patio to the rear.

The village of Bunbury captures the quintessential feel of the area perfectly, offering essential amenities including a supermarket and three pubs to try.

Bunbury was also used as the location for the ITV drama Home Fires.

The woodland trail of Beeston Castle and the magnificent Sandstone Trail is less than ten minutes away, so there should be plenty of outdoor activity on your agenda.

Where you’ll be staying

BUNBURY

Nantwich 7.8 miles; Chester 13.9 miles; Stoke-on-Trent 26 miles.

The village of Bunbury lies at the western edge of the Cheshire Plain some 3 miles from Tarporley and 12 miles south east of the city of Chester. Little is known of its history prior to the Norman Conquest but it is generally accepted that the name is of Saxon origin and it is thought that there was a Christian place of worship on the site of the present parish church long before 1066. Early references to the settlement call it Bunan byrig, the stronghold of Buna. The village today has a supermarket, three pubs and the striking St Boniface Church which is recorded in the National Heritage List of England as a designated Grade I listed building.
