  • "Lovely comfy cosy cottage, actually nicer and more spacious than the pictures suggest."

All spotless and the kitchen extremely well equipped with good quality equipment. Great location for walking - we walked from the door on one of our days and a short drive will bring you to many great options. Owners were friendly and very responsive when we had a small unforeseeable problem during our stay (thank you). If Wi-Fi is very important for you, then I suspect it may always be patchy due to issues outside of the owners’ control. Also, it wasn’t obvious to us in advance that the garden terrace is only accessed from the single bedroom as it’s on a higher level. Not a problem for us though.

The best equipped kitchen we have stayed in, which is many. Lovely patio with smashing views. Couldn’t fault the accommodation and the hosts who lived on the farm were helpful & friendly. Added bonus was the new micro brewery within a short walking distance ,which is open at weekends. Well worth a visit. Can recommend a visit to Carsington Water 20 minutes away. We would definitely visit Aunt Jane’s cottage again.

They worked perfectly for us, and were within easy reach of some local areas of interest. The weather wasn't great, but as we wanted to spend time as a family we enjoyed staying in, and made full use of what the cottages had to offer. Friendly owners, and everything we needed, even the addition of a well-kitted out utility area with washing machine, tumble drier and clothes racks. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Beautifully clean cottage and would love to stay again for a longer period. Thank you and hope to be back soon.

Everything you could want or need. Also available are a small selection of books, puzzles and games. Ideal for a couple or with one child, however next door is a bigger property. The cottage is spacious with parking outside. The countryside around is wonderful and picturesque. This cottage is ideally situated for walkers and if you don’t walk but like to visit places, then this is the cottage for you. It’s situation is in the middle of the countryside, it’s peaceful, but only a mile or so from the main road where within 10 - 15 minutes drive you can be in Buxton, Bakewell, Matlock and Matlock Bath. Also worth a visit is Ashbourne and the wonderful Carsington Water and Cromford and the Cromford Canal. Also worth a visit is Chatsworth House. This is a property that we will definitely return to.

About the location

WINSTER

Bakewell 6 miles; Matlock 4.5 miles.

The conservation village of Winster is situated within the White Peak area of the Peak District National Park and is an extremely pretty place, with a charming 17th century market house at its centre, and other imposing 17th and 18th century houses, many three storeys high. The three main streets - Main Street, East Bank and West Bank are interconnected by alleyways known as ‘ginnels’, which are well worth exploring. The village of Winster is famous for its Morris dancers, the annual Shrove Tuesday pancake race, Wakes festivities in June, and the Secret Gardens of Winster event in July. Within the village there is a well-stocked, community-owned general store incorporating a Post Office. There are two pubs, both serving food and traditional beer. Bakewell, Matlock, Chatsworth House, and the Peak Rail Steam Railway are all nearby and, for keen walkers and cyclists, The Limestone Way runs along the edge of the village. The Tissington and High Peaks walking and cycling trails, with bike hire available, both lie less than 5 miles from the village, a wonderful base for exploring the Peak District.
