"It’s a lovely little cottage, close to the centre."
Very well equipped and recently modernised. It was really warm and comfortable and highly recommended. The road is busy but it’s only a short walk to town. I suspect it will be made a 20mph soon. I’d recommended Smiths Tavern and a trip to St Oswalds
Thank you so much for your lovely review. We are so glad you had a great stay at the cottage. Property Owner

"Enjoyable break in the Peake District."
Ashbourne is a lovely market town which never disappoints. Charlie made us welcome with his lovely gift and he kept in touch, checking that everything was OK. The cottage is what you’d expect of a refurbished 300 year old building. Clean, well maintained and comfortable. The location is central to all amenities but is on a busy main road, so traffic noise is only to be expected. I’d recommend Church View Cottage:
Thank you so much for your kind feedback Kevin! We are so glad you had an enjoyable and comfortable break in the cottage. Property Owner

"Nice cottage, but next to very busy road"

"The cottage itself is lovely with lots of character, renovated and equipped to a high standard."
Beds were comfy. There was a welcome pack from the owners that was a nice touch. The only thing that would be useful to have is a brush and dustpan. The only issue is the location on a very busy road. The noise didn't actually bother us very much, especially in the bedrooms upstairs where all the windows are double-glazed. When walking to the off street parking up the road though, the pavement is very narrow and you can't fit a buggy. There is no crossing and the road is incredibly busy and difficult to cross so for this reason, I think the cottage more suitable for couples rather than families with young children.
Thank you for your feedback, we are so glad you enjoyed your time at the cottage. The road can get busy at peak times e.g. 9am or 5pm however we are glad that the road noise wasn’t an issue for you. There are alternative walking routes to the suggested parking, I’m sorry I did not make you aware of these. Ashbourne is awaiting a bypass which is currently in the planning phase, when completed this will greatly reduce traffic. Thanks again for staying at Church View Cottage. Property Owner

About the location
ASHBOURNE
Matlock 15.7 miles; Bakewell 16.6 miles; Chatsworth 20.4 miles.
Lying at the southern end of the Peak District, Ashbourne is a perfect example of an English market town - market place with stalls, eccentric street plan, narrow cobbled alleys, coaching inns and almshouses. In its heyday in the 18th-century, the town was a fashionable social centre, and many fine Georgian buildings remain from this period. Today the town still has much to offer in terms of restaurants and inns and is regarded as something of a haven for antique hunters - but don’t expect a bargain! For those who prefer more outdoor pursuits, the Dove and Manifold Valleys are close by and for thrill seekers Alton Towers with its exciting collecting of rides and attractions is just a short drive away.
