  • "A little more information on finding the alleyway would be good but the apartment is clean, comfortable and well equipped."

The location is very convenient in the centre of town.

  • "Thanks for a fab stay and weekend."

We had a great time. Your cottage is lovely, clean, cosy and comfortable. We really enjoyed staying there - well provided and thanks for the supplies when we arrived - a thoughtful and appreciated touch. Thanks again.

  • "Although described as an apartment it felt more like a house."

Comfortable, clean and well equipped. Had initial trouble finding it - useful info is that it is between the two red telephone boxes.

  • "The property is an absolute gem and is highly recommended."

The owner Steve is helpful and accommodating, an excellent host. We have rebooked the property for a number of weeks while working in the area and would highly recommend. We would not hesitate to return, a lovely property with all the facilities anybody would need.

  • "The property was very nice with good facilities."

Issues arose after leaving when the owner accused us of damaging the kitchen worktop with a knife. This was completely untrue. The owner was extremely rude when contacted to dispute and we were charged £395 to repair, we felt held to ransom. We have received 5 star reviews from all of the properties we have stayed in with the exception of this one. Sykes were very helpful when trying to find a resolution and arranged an alternative without charge when a repeat booking was made in error. I would not recommend staying here due to the issues we have had.

  • "We have just returned from our 3 night stay in the Kennedy Cottage, for a girlie few days away before school returns."

There was myself, my mum and my two daughters aged 12 & 10 . Upon arrival, the accommodation was extremely clean and well maintained, everything looked new, we had a welcome basket comprising of 4 pints of milk, bread, crisps, coffee pods and biscuits which was a lovely gesture. There was also a lot of necessities that you don't always find in holiday accommodation, such as washing up liquid, coffee, tea and sugar, tea towels, dishcloths, salt and pepper etc which was also nice to see. There was ample amounts of crockery and cutlery, which makes a nice change and all of these appeared new too. There were plenty of towels for us all, and these were super soft and smelt lovely, the shower was powerful and was lovely to use. In the living room, there was board games which we made very good use of, and the girls thoroughly enjoyed playing these, there was monopoly, Cluedo, uno and others, again these all appeared new. You get a parking permit for Derbyshire Dales car parks, the closest of these is just across the road, this permit allows you to park from 16:00 - 11.00 for free, but spaces are limited. The accommodation is ideally located to access a lot that Derbyshire has to offer. The only downside for us was the beds, I can only put this down to these also being new and not being "bedded" in, however this was a huge thing for us, so much so, that we had to cut our holiday short as we barely slept at all. In the master bedroom, the bed is made up of two singles, but both myself and my 10 year old tossed and turned all night, the curtains at the rear of the property don't completely block the light and as such the two huge security lights at the back of the property, light the bedroom up like the illuminations, the bed in the room next to the master was bearable, if they were all like this, we could have managed, but the bed on the first floor was so hard. This was a huge shame as the rest of the property was perfect, just what we wanted, but the lack of sleep due to the beds, made the length of our stay impossible.

  • "Immaculate property in a superb central location in Ashbourne."

Everything was new and very clean. Lovely welcome pack on arrival which was most welcome after a 5 hour drive. The property was plenty big enough for 6 adults. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're glad you enjoyed your stay and hope you visit again soon. Property Owner

About the location

ASHBOURNE

Matlock 15.7 miles; Bakewell 16.6 miles; Chatsworth 20.4 miles.

Lying at the southern end of the Peak District, Ashbourne is a perfect example of an English market town - market place with stalls, eccentric street plan, narrow cobbled alleys, coaching inns and almshouses. In its heyday in the 18th-century, the town was a fashionable social centre, and many fine Georgian buildings remain from this period. Today the town still has much to offer in terms of restaurants and inns and is regarded as something of a haven for antique hunters - but don’t expect a bargain! For those who prefer more outdoor pursuits, the Dove and Manifold Valleys are close by and for thrill seekers Alton Towers with its exciting collecting of rides and attractions is just a short drive away.
