  • "Beautiful, modern, and well decorated cottage in a fabulous location."

It has a lovely comfy bed with quality bedding, everything you require to stay in and cook, the welcome pack (milk, bread, choc-o-pains, butter, jam, coffee and tea) was appreciated, and even treats for our dog and towels to dry her when she came back wet from romping in the fields. Luxury toiletries in the bathroom, lots of fluffy towels and a bonus of an outdoor courtyard area to sit out and enjoy the rays. Even books, games and maps were provided and Netflix for those rainy times. The cottage is on a busy road, which can be noisy especially during the day, but the most of the time we were out exploring and there is no parking, but we managed to park for free on a quiet and safe street just up the road. Ashbourne is a gorgeous town, with lots of fabulous countryside right on the doorstep. We enjoyed lots of walks with our dog, visited Bakewell, Tissington, Ilam and scoffed and troffed in many of the local eateries and cafes. There was even a brass band playing in the local park. The locals were all friendly and had time to chat. Would we visit again - most definitely, would we stay at this little home away from home - YES! But ssshhhhhh, don't tell everyone as we want to return.

Exceeded expectations, very welcoming and excellent value for money. A little more info re parking in the pre booking listing would have been helpful as I wasn’t clear it was in nearby pay car park. However it all worked fine.

  • "We stayed here over the bank holiday as a couple with a dog."

The house was lovely, very homely and comfortable. There was everything you could have needed and much more within the house and it was very well thought out. The garden area was a huge bonus for us. The hosts have thought of every little detail including the welcome note and some added complimentary items such as treats for the dog, bowls, towels etc. The location was perfect to access the Tissington Trail which is in short walking distance. It is also a short drive to Bakewell. Overall, we had a lovely stay and would definitely return in the future.

  • "A wonderful homely place that we used as a base to explore the Peak District."

The owners made a real effort to welcome us and we had a great time. It was perfect for the three of us (two adults and a Chihuahua!) and the parking behind the church wasn’t an inconvenience at all, when shops and restaurants are immediately close by. Thank you and we look forward to having another chilled short break again.

This was our first mini break with our 6 month old Cocker Spaniel and we loved it. The property owners go above and beyond to ensure you have a comfortable stay. An especially nice touch were the pastries, jam, butter and tea bags provided for our arrival. Even the dog had treats, dog bowls, and her own towels! We will definitely be back!

  • "Robins Nook is the perfect retreat!"

We loved the location, close to the market square for slow, relaxed days but also close to lots of walks such as the tissington trail which you can start from the doorstep, Dovedale and Carsington Water. Lots of great pubs and coffee shops for food and drink available nearby. Suzanne and Phil have equipped the cottage with everything you could possibly need, we brought far more with us than we needed to as they'd already thought of it all! We found parking on the nearby carpark super easy, purchasing a rover pass which also allowed us to park on other public car parks all over Derbyshire. The welcome pack for us and our dog were really appreciated and also amazing quality. We'll definitely be back to this lovely home from home!

  • "My partner and I spent a cosy week at Twixtmas at Robin's Nook."

She seeing family, me working from my home away from home. We felt very "at home" in this very well-equipped little house on three floors. The flow of the house, with kitchen on the ground floor, living room on first and bedroom up top meant it was lovely to come home to after a Winter walk. Facilities were great. I don't think the listing mentions the washing machine but we were glad of it as we were trying to travel light. Would book again without hesitation.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay in this house."

Great fun to be literally a few steps from the centre of town, and also fabulous access to the Tissington Trail cycle route as well as roads into the Peak District. Lovely, helpful touches and treats for our dog too, as well as the welcome tray for us. It was really good to have the bike lock up in the back yard too with very easy in and out through the shared access door. All very comfortable, stylish and beautifully presented. The road noise is a thing at certain times of day, but the windows are extremely effective at damping most of it out. We could have done with some extra storage or hooks for wet coats and muddy boots.

It is very close to all the amenities of Ashbourne. We bought, in advance, the 7 day car parking ticket and parked our car in the Auction Close car park which was a very short walk through the church grounds back to Robin's Nook. There are plenty of buses easily available to get to the surrounding area. The cottage is very clean and welcoming, lots of treats: milk, eggs, bread, cheese, butter, wine left for us and treats for our dog too. A huge thank you.

  • "The attention to detail at Robin’s Nook is superb."

Upon entering the property it’s obvious it’s well looked after. There was butter, cheese, strawberries and milk in the fridge, scones and rolls in the bread bin and fresh eggs on the table. A small bottle of Prosecco completed the line up, and that’s just for us humans. The dog wasn’t left out and had his own welcome treats as well as other ‘essentials’! The kitchen is really well equipped and includes lots of things you don’t normally expect in a rental. The private courtyard garden is a sun trap and if you bring bikes there’s a storage shed. Upstairs the lounge is perfect for relaxing and up one more floor is a comfy bed. In the bathroom there’s plenty of shower gel and shampoo. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return.

About the location

ASHBOURNE

Matlock 15.7 miles; Bakewell 16.6 miles; Chatsworth 20.4 miles.

Lying at the southern end of the Peak District, Ashbourne is a perfect example of an English market town - market place with stalls, eccentric street plan, narrow cobbled alleys, coaching inns and almshouses. In its heyday in the 18th-century, the town was a fashionable social centre, and many fine Georgian buildings remain from this period. Today the town still has much to offer in terms of restaurants and inns and is regarded as something of a haven for antique hunters - but don’t expect a bargain! For those who prefer more outdoor pursuits, the Dove and Manifold Valleys are close by and for thrill seekers Alton Towers with its exciting collecting of rides and attractions is just a short drive away.
