• "I’ve not long had a hip replacement so mobility is limited and crutches are a necessity."

  Post box cottage has a variety of floor levels both inside and outside and few handholds on stairs and access to other spaces. It was not an easy house for me. I think that this ought to be mentioned in the on-line information and other publicity. Jane was very good in providing all necessary for the house, but couldn’t alter the house!

• "We stayed at Postbox Cottage for the August bank holiday week."

  It was absolutely amazing. A beautiful location and a stunning cottage. Immaculate throughout and a warm and welcoming feel. Jane is the most wonderful host - I had mentioned before our stay that our daughter has disabilities and she sent a lovely email with activities and restaurants that may suit our particular needs. She went absolutely above and beyond to help us make the most out of stay in the Peak District. Our daughter was so excited and loved the amazing welcome tray in the kitchen. Will definitely be booking this cottage again for future holidays.

• "The cottage was beautiful, very clean, comfortable and homely."

  Jane and Andrew went above and beyond with a welcome card, tray of goodies and milk in the fridge. It was so very kind and thoughtful. We had a lovely week exploring the area and it was really lovely to come back in the evenings to the cottage. We would highly recommend it.

• "A lovely cosy cottage."

  It was extremely clean and was very well equipped. Close to a lot of tourist attractions- we went to Chatsworth House, Bakewell, Alton Towers. Carsington water is 2 mins away and a good free day out with kids. Derby is 20 mins away and has good high street shops. Lots of nice nearby pubs for food. Lovely big private garden.

• "An absolutely fabulous hidden gem!"

  Tucked away, quiet and secluded - exactly what we wanted and needed for our short break. The cottage was decorated and equipped to the highest standard, immaculately clean and owner Jane’s finishing touches were so thoughtful - she had really thought of everything! Extremely generous welcome pack and excellent communication from Jane throughout. Would highly recommend!

• "We have just had a fabulous week at postbox cottage."

  Jane , the owner , had left us a lovely “welcome box” of goodies, which was very thoughtful and appreciated. The cottage was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and the downstairs shower is one of the easiest we have ever used! There is a lovely outside seating area which we took advantage of most evenings watching the sun go down. All in all , our stay at this lovely cottage , in wonderful surroundings, was very relaxing and we came home feeling very refreshed, Many thanks again to Jane, and we hope to make a return visit one day Would highly recommend ,

• "Perfect location."

  Very peaceful. Close to many places we like to visit and good for walking. Only drawback is that upstairs is very cramped owing to sloping ceilings. A tall person would always be ducking and be very careful when getting up from bed not to knock head. This could perhaps be mentioned in description of property. But a very enjoyable holiday with generous treats left by the owners on arrival.

• "Beautiful quaint cottage with gorgeous views of the peak district as well as its own secluded garden."

  Open it up and feel like your in fields themselves or shut it up and be in your own cosy hideaway. Jane kept us up to date prior to our arrival plus left us an amazing welcome pack with information and treats! Great walk round Carsington water just 5 mins up the road.

• "This is a perfect holiday cottage."

  Communication with Jane prior to our stay was excellent and the welcome pack left for our arrival was very generous. The cottage was spotless and very warm and cosy. It was well equipped with everything you needed. We didn’t want to leave but will be back.

• "We have just spent a fantastic week at Postbox Cottage."

  The cottage has everything you need and it is do cosy especially with wet and windy autumn weather! Washing machine, dishwasher, airfryer, microwave, oven just makes everything as stress free but home from home for visitors. The welcome pack was such a thoughtful idea which the kids really enjoy, thank you Jane for your kind hospitality. The cottage is in a perfect position to visit so many places (a week isnt enough!), with Alton Towers less than 30 min away, Tissington Trail for walking and cycling 15 min away, Dovedale 25 mins, Carsington Water for walking, cycling and water sports 5 min away just to name a few. The cottage and location is perfect!

• "A lovely clean and well appointed cottage, it was a nice size for the three of us."

  Jane very kindly made contact before we arrived and was lovely to deal with. The cottage is located in an excellent location for exploring the Derbyshire Dales and Peak District. In response to a previous review. The cottage was very warm, and temperature easily adjusted with a simple to use thermostat. Fridge was cold and spacious, washing machine easily accessed. Lots of paintings and rugs. Curtains fine also. Definitely no mould, the cottage was spotlessly clean. The kitchen is really well equipped. This cottage is absolutely 5 star, and we hope to return in the future.

• "Perfect in every way."

  Five star property. Postbox Cottage was perfect for us. Jane the owner is the perfect host and goes above and beyond to ensure her guests are comfortable and happy, excellent communication. Absolutely spotlessly cottage, well equipped with everything you could possibly need and of good standard . Property extremely well maintained inside and outside. Very quiet location with lovely walks direct from the gate. Great heating fully adjustable, lovely shower and comfy beds and furniture. I must respond to the previous review. There is absolutely no mould or smell of mould anywhere the cottage is pristine , only smell was fresh and clean, Jane has replaced the fridge with a lovely fridge/freezer, put thermal curtains at the back door and the washing machine is easily accessible, heating thermostat works great . We loved every minute here and would highly recommend. Thank you so much for the alternative plant based welcome pack.

• "Lovely stay."

  A few things were not working properly though, the fridge and the heating, the thermostat control didn't work and had a few cold evenings. The fridge did not keep cool and my bacon went off. There was a very mouldy smell too covered up by air fresheners everywhere. I was quite amused by the fridge totally blocking the washing machine so we couldn't use it. The shower was lovely though, the bed was comfortable and the location perfect. All in all it was nice, albeit very small. Ways to improve would be a door curtain on the patio doors and back door as rather cold at night . Would be more cosy with pictures on the wall and a nice rug. But it was very clean and a lovely welcome pack awaited us. After all I've said I would definitely recommend to friends.

I sincerely would have valued the opportunity to rectify any issues you had during your stay, we were only a phone call away to help. Once aware of the issues we went to the cottage , checked the thermostat which was working ok and installed a brand new 80/20 fridge freezer. This is slightly narrower giving more room to use the washing machine which I use every week without any problems. There is no mold in the cottage, you very kindly said to me it was the cleanest cottage you have ever stayed in. I am also sorry you found the cottage very small for you both with two reception rooms, two bathrooms , downstairs cloakroom and two bedrooms . Thank you also for your positive comments and your message saying it was by far the best place you have stayed in. We hope to welcome you back to Postbox Cottage. Property Owner

• "I went there alone, and very last minute."

  This cottage was absolutely beautiful. It was kitted out perfectly and was immaculate! Everything had been thought about. I felt relaxed and at ease the second I pulled into the drive. It’s set in a beautiful, quiet location where you really can forget about any worries. Gorgeous bathroom and a separate shower room And the kitchen is just lovely, with everything you could possibly need. It was a shame to leave. :) I will certainly be returning.

• "The cottage was spotlessly clean & very comfortable."

  The welcome pack was a thoughtful touch. The cottage is in a great position for exploring the area. Jane was very helpful with recommendations for pubs, restaurants etc. We highly recommend this lovely cottage & we enjoyed our stay very much.
