Very well appointed and such beautiful furnishings and decor. The grandchildren loved the den area in particular, this is the second stay for them and very very excited to be returning. The garden is perfect for eating and drinking outside, weather permitting !! We met Joy the owner who is a delightful lady, brought us lots of treats, fresh eggs from her own hens, cake, wine and treats for the children. All in all a great time was had by all and wouldn’t hesitate to book this cottage again. Thank you Joy and Keith.

Only used the shower in the main bathroom as shower in en-suite a bit too compact and not that practical. Car parking at the rear is a bonus but only really suitable for one car.

  • "We absolutely loved the house."

We arrived to a lovely welcome hamper and the house was tastefully decorated for Christmas. The house is beautifully furnished with lovely comfy sofas and three downstairs spaces to sit in. We cooked a lot and could have done with some more kitchen equipment such as scales, whisks, measuring spoons and more bowls and saucepans but on the whole the kitchen was well equipped and the mini-food processor came in very useful. The upstairs bedrooms were warm and cosy and beautifully decorated. The owner contacted me to ask if we needed any recommendations and we really appreciated that. We also met her too, and this made a real difference to our holiday too. The house is right in the centre of Bakewell and had parking. We enjoyed a lovely Christmas in Bakewell and it was a perfect place to go to at this time of year.

It's full of character and charm and equipped to the highest standards throughout. Very clean and comfortable, the owners had gone to great lengths to make it a perfect place to stay. We held our annual Uni friends reunion in Bakewell this year and we all agreed that after many reunions Church Cottage has raised the bar and is by far the nicest place we've stayed at yet. On the practical side, the off-road parking is a real bonus and the bike locker very handy. All-in-all a fabulous cottage in the heart of Derbyshire, our only regret being that we didn't stay longer.

Great location, beautiful inside and really well designed. Stunning! The interior design was outstanding and really well equipped with everything you would need. Thank you for a great stay. Recommendation for other visitors, I had read a comment about fitting four cars on the parking space, the listing does only say two parking spaces and if you are planning on booking work on that basis. The space is tight but perfect, it’s off the road, secure and right at the back of the house but not big enough for more than two cars.

  • "We enjoyed a fantastic stay at the cottage, it was clean and well maintained, and well appointed with everything you could need."

The garden was so lovely, and it was a pleasure to sit in the garden and enjoy the view over the town to the hills beyond. The location was absolutely perfect, just up the hill away from the hustle of the town, which is very busy, but we couldn't hear any noise from it or the traffic - just the church bells which we loved, (The teenagers - not so much) But it was close enough to access the Monsal trail and walks by foot. Just a couple of things to mention, the outside table probably hadn't been used this year, so could have done with a little love, and maybe even a table cloth available to cover it up, and the shower in the ensuite was unusable. Water came out in a dribble, which was either scalding and dangerously hot, or freezing cold. We absolutely loved Bakewell, and will be back to the Peak District, and maybe even back to Church Cottage

This cottage is a little gem in the heart of bakewell, Derbyshire. The cottage has been very tastefully refurbished to a very high standard and is in keeping with a cottage style house. The beds are comfortable with high standard bed linen throughout. It is extremely well equipped in the kitchen with crockery, utensils, glassware and cutlery. The garden area at the rear of the property is a bonus and I would imagine in the warmer months it would be lovely place to eat Al fresco. The log burner fire is a bonus for the colder months and makes the cottage so cosy on an evening. Logs and fire lighters were supplied. The house had been cleaned to a very high standard , the bathrooms were spotless . I Would definitely recommend this cottage for a short or extended stay, we really didn’t want to leave. Many thanks to Joy for a lovely stay and making my 69rh birthday memorable.

Warm cottage with everything required to have a good cottage break. As described, there is parking for 2 cars however it is tight for 2 large cars. There are 2 separate sitting rooms, one with a TV in addition to a downstairs den also with a TV. Neither sitting room had sufficient comfortable seating for 6 people to sit together either to talk or watch the TV. We would have appreciated information in the cottage about recycling and which bins outside were for which kind of waste. A small issue is that there weren't 6 plates, 6 bowls or 6 glasses that matched. Its a lovely cottage in a lovely town.
