"We were really pleased with this spacious property as soon as we walked through the door."
It was spotlessly clean and the heating was on so we walked into a nice warm place.
-
"Spot short walkto Town spotless and well furnished to high standard all showers were great"
-
"Brilliant property."
It is the 7th time I have used this cottage and it never disappoints
-
"A charming cottage in a great location."
The facilities are excellent and of a high quality. The walk back from town and the stairs maybe an issue for some folks. Only one niggle the heating was on constantly so it was rather hot, but that is nothing really. We would definitely stay here again.
-
"Very nice well equipped cottage in a nice quiet location."
Seriously let down by cleanliness. The cooker was so filthy we could not use it fir fear that it would spoil food. Toilet brush holder in first floor toilet was disgusting. We ended up having to spend far more on take out food than we liked. I intend to email Sykes separately regarding the disgusting state of the cooker and pans.

"Little bit confusing regarding the rubbish collection"
-
"I realised I’d left a pair of expensive cycling shoes at the property within an hour of leaving."
2.5 weeks later and numerous WhatsApp’s, calls you claim you couldn’t reach the cleaner and couldn’t locate the shoes. Finally after I repeatedly asked you reminded me that the cleaners number was on the key email - wow 1 minute later Kelly located the shoes. This is a complaint - your systems are clearly not robust and you’ve let me down badly. Evidence suggests that you didn’t even bother to contact the cleaner. It’s really not that hard. I will never use Sykes Cottages again.

"Excellent cottage."
Looked small but was a tardis inside!! Clean and very tastefully decorated. Great base for exploring the area Would definitely recommend this cottage
-
"My friends and I had an enjoyable stay in wyebrow cottage."
The cottage was clean and comfortable. The cottage is situated on a hillside about a 10 minute walk out of Bakewell and is well placed for visiting the surrounding Towns and villages. There are plenty of shops to explore in Bakewell along with several pubs and cafes. I would recommend wyebrow cottage however, the stairs are quite narrow and steep so probably not suitable for people with mobility problems.
-
"The cottage was great 3 bed but importantly 3 bath."
The stairs are steep so if you have little ones or you are not good on stairs chose another place. It is a brilliant cottage and location The wood burner was a hit especially since we had an issue with the central heating. On that I need to say that the management company were fantastic about fixing it, they were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I would highly recommend this place
-
"This is a lovely property."
It was clean and comfortable. It looks like a traditional terrace with a beautiful small garden to the front of the property with seated area, however inside it has a lovely modern interior. Well fitted bathrooms, kitchen & lovely bedrooms and the view from the top floor is gorgeous. The lounge area is spacious and reasonably comfortable (sofa and chairs look nice but aren't very comfortable but that's just a personal opinion) The property has lots of stairs so be cautious if you have mobility issues Parking for one car & a 10 minute walk into beautiful Bakewell We would defo stay again as there's so much to see & this cottage is lovely.
-
"The stench from the drains was dreadful."
We found this was generated from the basement floor bathroom. We simply avoided using this and it wasn’t a problem for the rest of our stay, although I pity anyone having to use the basement bedroom and bathroom. The first floor shower was blocked and didn’t drain but we fixed this ourselves using Mr Muscle bought from the the Co-op in town. Otherwise the house was clean and the views fantastic.

"Hi we really enjoyed our stay at Wyebrow cottage."
The cottage was very clean, spacious and well equipped. I was very impressed by how quickly the owner fixed the boiler for us when it broke during our stay. The upstairs bedroom had an extra toilet and sink which we weren’t expecting. I am very concerned however that the window in the downstairs en-suite bedroom fell outwards on to my elderly Mum and gave her a nasty bruise on the head! I strongly feel that the window is a dangerous hazard and should be checked over!

"4th time using Wyebrowe."
Speaks for itself
-
"These points highlighted for awareness so to avoid bigger issues down the line."
Kitchen tap although not leaking does not appear to be secure as moves backward when turned on under water pressure. Downstairs shower slow to drain. Upstairs bathroom extractor fan slow to get going.
-
"Great property with plenty of space and comfy space for 3 couples."
Location is excellent for a short walk into Bakewell or longer walks through stunning scenery.
-
"A perfect cottage for our family break, with two bathrooms."
The cottage was very warm - but that is preferable to not being warm enough. Another welcome feature is that it is doggy friendly. Previous comments about the lack of hand wash and toilet paper were helpful as it allowed me to bring these items - I was disappointed that this had not been addressed. The proximity to beautiful Bakewell was great, with the added bonus of the food festival over the bank holiday weekend. All in all a fab cottage
-
"Wyebrow Cottage was extremely comfortable and well equipped and our review would have had top scores across the board had it not been for two things that let it down."
Firstly the hand wash in all 3 bathrooms / toilets was almost empty and not a lot in the kitchen either. Secondly all 3 toilet rolls were almost all gone and there wasn't even one left as a spare. In a cottage of this quality, these small things were unexpected and unnecessary.
-
"Description and photos of property provided an accurate description."
-
"Just spent three nights here with my family."
A beautiful cottage which was lovely and warm and very well equipped. Will definitely return.
-
"Much nicer than we anticipated; very warm and cozy in the freezing winter weather, comfortable beds, clean, excellent showers and best of all- really sharp knives in the kitchen:) Already planning next year."
-
"Lovely cottage, warm and comfortable and even had a Christmas tree and decorations - nice touch!"
Be aware access would be tricky for the less mobile. Would recommend this cottage and may well return in the future.
-
"The only issue I would comment is the recycling of the rubbish no bins provided ..."
The only issue I would comment is the recycling of the rubbish no bins provided and guidance on how to safely depose of any rubbish generated
-
"The property was lovely but we found it strange that there was not out side bins to put rubbish in."
Also the tap in the upstairs bathroom was loose and we thought it was going to come off every time we turned it on .
-
"Couple of minor niggles, plug in ground floor bathroom would not work, tap on sink in family bathroom on first floor loose."
A few cobweb’s here and there however had a really great stay and a fantastic base for exploring the area. Everyone said how comfy the beds were. Showers were always warm with plenty of water pressure.Thank you.
-
"Lovely cottage - just some issues with poorer quality fixtures in the bathrooms."
Taps loose and plug gets stuck
-
"Beautiful property - clean, well equipped, comfortable, incredible views - we had a fantastic stay, thank you!"
The only thing I'd suggest is providing a little more washing up liquid, additional sponges, and a little more toilet paper - but these are obviously very minor things. Would highly recommend and definitely stay again!
-
"Lovely cottage, situated in lovely gardens."
Ideal retreat after a busy day. Very well equipped.
-
"A lovely well equipped cottage in a lovely location."
-
"Lovely location."
Good parking. We were 3 couples so being able to park on the road as well as by the cottage was great. Cottage pretty clean but some cobwebs and stains on sheets. A few things had been written on the list in the kitchen by previous renters but not dealt with - fridge makes loud noise, heating set too high, knob had come off dishwasher so door couldn't be opened, chipped mugs need replacing.
-
"Lovely cottage - great location"
-
"An incredibly peaceful cottage location and a lovely cosy cottage."
Bakewell is a gorgeous place and only a short walk away.
-
"When we realised that although this property was classed has having 3 bathrooms it only had 2 the (3rd bathroom)only had a sink and toilet we phoned up and was told we should have realised from the photographs that this was the case."
In future before we book anything else with you we will make sure that what is advertised is what we get
-
"Great cottage in a fantastic location."
So impressed with the cottage we have already booked it again for next year.
-
"Very pretty cottage, very clean & very well equipped."
It was great for my family, 6 of us for the weekend & 3 of us for the rest of the stay. We would return. Bakewell is lovely too, very pretty & lots of great places to eat. Please improve the neglected garden. The gardens are open plan & it is next to the prettiest garden!
-
"The cottage was very good."
Way above expectations. However the access is not suitable for elderly people if they are not fit. However the lovely location more than made up for this. It is one of the best self catering properties I have stayed in. Lots of info on area very well equipped I had reason to contact the cleaning service and they were very helpful. useful provisions in the kitchen, as I forgot tea and coffee we could have a drink before rushing to the shop. We also felt it was good value for money.
-
"Lovely cottage recently updated with everything we could need."
The garden needed some TLC
-
"Excellent location, very clean everything, exactly what we needed for an amazing stay."
We absolutely adored it.
-
"This house was very clean, comfortable and well equipped."
A real find. Thank You.
-
"The cleaning company could not have been more helpful in returning an item left at the cottage"
-
"Absolutely amazing cottage, perfect location, booked again already!"
-
"We had an amazing stay in Wyebrow Cottage."
The Cottage was equipped and furnished to a very high standard and we had everything we needed. The location was also excellent for our many jaunts across the peaks.
-
"It was a lovely cottage in a great location which was very peaceful."
However despite information stating that the heating and towel rails came on they didn’t and there were no instructions. I rang the contact and advised that there are numerous comments in the visitor book stating the same issue and yet nothing has been done about it. We had to manually turn it on morning and evening and it seemed that if you tried to put it on outside ‘set times’ it didn’t come on. Really disappointing and not what you expect having paid over £600. There was an hour wait to call Sykes due to Covid so was unable to speak to anyone. Also there was no mattress protector which we only found out when we stripped the bed which is unacceptable in these COVID times. Also would recommend that people are advised to put everything in the dishwasher before they leave and cleaners unload with gloves so you know it is all clean. This was done at the cottage we stayed at prior to this and we felt very safe using everything.
-
"We enjoyed the holiday."
I personally felt a little uncomfortable of the sofas and the bedroom on the lowest floor (i thought was the same level as the livingroom but wasnt) was hard to get at the right temperature. Other than that it was a nice place. I would choose to avoid the hill to get to it again (my dog needs a stroller) for short dog walks nearby (although this is on the information i had underestimated it).
-
"Extremely well appointed cottage."
One of the best we have ever stayed in. Just one small niggle - as the stairs are rather steep, additional handrails would be very welcome.
-
"Excellent location, very comfortable surroundings ."
Very cosy . Parking was also very good After completing an alleged walk of 6 miles which turned out to be 9.2 miles !! The hill up to the house is the last thing you need ! Actually it wasn’t that bad
-
"I thought the accommodation could have been cleaned a bit better for our arrival."
There were visible cobwebs and spiders and the downstairs bedroom and bathroom floors could’ve been cleaned more thoroughly. All of that aside the accommodation was very pleasant and comfortable and in a great location and we will definitely visit again.
-
"Wyebrow Cottage was brilliant in every way!"
! Excellent location, great parking. The house itself was very clean and very well equipped. Excellent wifi also!!
-
"The cottage is a beautifully kept cottage with everything you could possibly need."
The area is stunning with beautiful walks and places to see. I would highly recommend.
-
"This was one of the most comfortable, well-equipped and well-maintained cottages we have ever stayed in."
Despite it being a mid-terrace cottage, it housed 5 people and a very large dog with ease. Just a couple of small niggles: it would be useful to have some better and fuller instructions for the heating; instructions with regard to disposal of rubbish at the end of the stay. Finally, I think the description of the property doesn't make it clear enough that the en-suite 'cloakroom' is just that and the property should not really be described as having '3 bathrooms'. Overall we would happily return.
-
"Cottage was fantastic, comfortable for all six adults."
Beautifully decorated and in a great location.
-
"The cottage was beautifully presented, had everything we needed."
Excellent facilities and being close to Bakewell was real bonus with lots of walking nearby. The walk back up the hill didn't get any easier but you definately knew you were alive. It was a rare find making our stay brilliant in a lovely quiet area of Bakewell and the neighbours are very friendly.
-
"Everything about cottage was lovely, it would be useful to have written information about the the heating had to ring to find out how to put it on,lots of comments."
In visitors book about it.some extra glasses and cutlery would also be beneficial but had a great stay and would definitely go again
-
"Perfect cottage for 3 couples for a long weekend stay in Bakewell."
Decorated to a high standard with good quality furniture & fittings. Lovely log burner kept us toasty warm in the evenings but even without it, the central heating was very efficient. Hard to think of any negatives other than we needed more than 3 wine glasses!
-
"The cottage had been quite recently completely and tastefully renovated to provide very comfortable accommodation."
It was beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean. It hadn’t been a rental cottage for long and there were a few minor things which could be done to improve it. For example, there was only one tea towel provided, no kitchen towel and no spare loo rolls. These few items would have made it more a home from home. However, I would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone wishing to spend time in this area and would certainly book again in the future.
-
"Great cottage in an ideal location for Bakewell and the surrounding Peak District."
Great qulaity house with everything you need and it's obviously recently been refurbished to a very high quality. The only issues at all were that the corkscrew was broken and the heating controls could do with more instruction as to how they're operated. All in all a very good cottage that we would definitely return to again.
-
"Fabulous cottage."
Beautifully decorated and equipped. Lovely quiet location. Well placed for visiting attractions.
-
"As the whether gets colder that we found on the first nights stay we could not get the heating on this was also the case with other visitors that mentioned it in the visitors book."
-
"For the less agile amongst us it is located on the side of a hill and is a steep ascent and descent to and from the town by foot."
Access to the property is ok as the parking is close by. The property is part of a terrace but has been nicely refurbished. Again handrails would be nice on the stairs but overall a very enjoyable holiday in a lovely area.
-
"A lovely, clean and well maintained cottage on 3 levels."
Really enjoyed the view from the top floor. All the appliances were new and the kitchen is well stocked. The one disadvantage for people arriving by public transport is that they need to check the bus times to get to the cottage as they are few and far between during the Summer Season and stop by 5.00pm. I gather that they run more frequently up to the afore time mentioned during School Term times. We were unable to get a taxi to the cottage although we did try several. It is a steep hill to get up there for people who for various reasons, are not physically able to manage it.
-
"Only quibbles: The hoover was terrible!"
The downstairs shower suffered with pressure. The sofa isn't great (comfort wise) and the house would maybe benefit from a DVD player. Other than that, the house is stunning the facilities are excellent. I would highly highly recommend this for others to use.
-
"Nicely decorated, comfortable, well equipped cottage which was perfect for our girly get together!"
Would definitely recommend!
-
"This is a very well equipped cottage and also has very comfy beds."
We had a great time (helped by fantastic weather). The cottage is much more comfortable than the photos!
-
"Lovely peaceful cottage."
Beautiful setting. Amazing views. Everything you could need - bedding, towels, crockery and cutlery. We thoroughly enjoyed playing the games and the WiFi and the Smart TV. Wish we could have stayed longer.
-
"Very nicely (obviously fairly recently) renovated / extended cottage."
Good facilities. Could do with more precise info on the re-cycling / waste arrangements. Good location, away from the centre of town to be quiet, but near enough to easily walk (a bit hilly).
-
"The cottage is beautifully fitted out and a short ( though hilly ) walk into town."
Easy to get out and about in the Peaks. A few things could improve though. Currently the cottage next door is being renovated and though the builders did try to be quiet they arrived at 7am which disturbed those in the bedroom downstairs. A pre warning regarding the building work would have been appreciated. The downstairs bedroom has the back door in it and has glass with nothing to stop the light getting in in the morning... a curtain or solid door would improve this. I hope this doesn’t sound negative as all in all we had a wonderful time and the cottage setting is fantastic. The downstairs shower room has no shelving for putting toiletries on and this would be useful.
