The property

A semi-detached stone property wth glorious southerly views towards Chatsworth Estate and the Derwent Valley, Fern Cottage rests in the quaint village of Baslow and is a beautiful base for four adults and two children looking for a getaway to Derbyshire and the Peak District.

Park off-road and be welcomed into a delightful sitting room with wooden roofbeams, oak floors and stylish furniture, a perfect place to recline with a coffee and plan the day ahead of you.

When it comes to mealtimes, the charming kitchen/diner has you covered, with a whole host of amenities to cater to your culinary needs, tucked away into contemporary furniture, and here there is a dining table where guests can enjoy a heart-warming meal together.

There is a family bathroom ideal for a soak amongst the bubbles as well as three beautifully presented bedrooms within this property, beginning with a king-size with tall ceilings threaded with wooden beams and a handy en-suite, a second king-size with blue décor and a bunk room ideal for children.

The garden to this property is simply lovely, with a large lawn space, mature trees, and a patio area with furniture, ideal for enjoying a glass of your favourite beverage in the sunshine.

Baslow is a lovely riverside village with a local shop, pub, and access to many countryside walks including Baslow Edge, leading to Cubar Edge and the neighbouring riverside village of Calver with walks past the scenic Calver Wier.

Bakewell is another delightful village within reach, offering beautiful stone buildings, many cafes, and walks through the scenery.

Further from the property you will find Chatsworth House and Gardens and many more stunning walks throughout The Peak District National Park, ideal for hiking, walking and rock climbing.

Enjoy the scenery at Peveril Castle and Speedwell Cavern, or spend a day at the bustling city of Sheffield, where there is a museum, many independent shops to browse at your leisure and pubs and eateries for guests to dine at.

All of this and so much more with a stay at the lovely Fern Cottage.

Where you’ll be staying

BASLOW

Chatsworth 1 mile; Bakewell 5 miles.

The pretty village of Baslow lies at the north end of stately Chatsworth House - home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. The village has many unusual and picturesque features including a triple-arched river bridge guarded by a toll house whose doorway is only 3 1/2 feet high! Baslow offers a range of village amenities including shops, pubs and restaurants. Close by is Bakewell, the capital of the Peak District, and home of the famous Bakewell pudding (definitely not tart!), still made locally to an old and secret recipe. Bakewell is at the scenic heart of the Peak District, and with Alton Towers also within easy touring distance, there is plenty for the whole family to enjoy.
