The welcome from Ruth is great, she'd put flowers and a bottle of wine in the barn for us. The bed is extremely comfitable. We enjoyed the farm cats visiting us and seeing the other farm animals. There's a lovely walk from the barn which takes you through conservation ground. There are lots of places to visit and enjoy, something for all ages. We would particularly recommend The Tram Village, it's a really fun day out for any age group.

Hot tub needed. Soap holder in shower

I'm sorry you have felt the need to leave this review. The information for this property clearly says that it is nothing to do with someone famous or his farm and nowhere in the description does it state there is a hot tub. I'm sorry you didn't find the bathroom organiser which is hanging on the bathroom door for your soap. Property Owner

  • "Wonderful stay at Fletchers Barn."

Spotlessly clean on arrival. We self catered for all our stay, kitchen fully equipped with everything you could possibly need for 4 people and of good quality. Beds are huge and so comfortable with mattresses and pillow protectors and lovely bedding. Very warm and cosy and easy to boost heating if needed, alongside a lovely log burner. Constant hot water again easy to boost if needed. Fantastic wet room, very clean and excellent pressure from shower, handy grab rail. Great parking outside front door. This property is ideal for anyone with reduced mobility, downstairs king sized bedroom, no raised thresholds inside, ramp to front door, grab rail in shower. Property is very well maintained. Ruth the owner is a fantastic host and a lovely person who lives onsite and obviously cares so much about her guests comfort and enjoyment , she ensures everything is OK, is there if needed but leaves guests to enjoy the break. We would highly recommend this property and hope to return soon. Thank you Ruth for making us so welcome and accommodating us last minute.

  • "We stayed at Fletcher’s Barn in November as part of my friend’s 60th birthday celebrations."

We loved everything about it and have already recommended it to friends if they are considering a holiday in Derbyshire. Picturesque and traditional, but with modern conveniences, it was warm and cosy (important in November!) and made a great base for exploring the area. It’s in a rural setting on a working farm and only a few miles from shops. Since starting to holiday in the UK since Covid put a hold on going abroad, we’ve stayed in quite a few cottages and this is certainly one of the nicest. An excellent feature and a big selling point for us was the option to have both bedrooms set up as either king size or twin, something more places should consider. The owner was friendly and helpful and the welcome bottle of wine was most appreciated. We have no hesitation in recommending Fletcher’s Barn and would return if holidaying in the area again.

  • "The cottage had good crockery and the beds were comfortable, but that's all you can say about this cottage."

The bad points are listed below. The property had not be cleaned properly. The oven was dirty the grill pan was so greasy it could not be used. The pots and pans need replacing now. The washing machine powder compartment was full of old powder and water, so again could not be used The water pump noise ( which was not listed ) kept you awake every time you run the tap or flushed the toilet, so much so you could not sleep in the upstairs bedroom were the pump is. The shower hot and cold tap was very hard to turn, a disabled person would have had a problem with this, so we would not recommend this cottage for a disabled person and should be highlighted in the property details. The shaver wall socket did not work. We have stayed in many Skye's properties before, some very good others not so, but this is the worse property so much so it spoiled our holiday and we would think again before hiring another property from Skye's Holiday cottages.

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your stay at Fletchers Barn, and I am very disappointed you didn't feel it necessary to bring any of theses issues to my attention while you were staying with us, so they could have been dealt with during your stay to improve your holiday. I have looked at all the point highlighted by yourself and feel the only thing that possible needs action is the shower leave (with it being a round handle) could have issue with gripping with arthritic hands, but would like to say I have never had anyone remark on this before. The welcome gift of wine and milk was much appreciated, and the flowers were a lovely touch. The beds were very comfortable and the bedding was of a high standard. This is a good area for sightseeing and the woods opposite made lane avoidance a delight. Local pubs not up to much, but many good alternatives just a short car ride away.

We stayed here many years ago with one very small sprog and returned with a bigger child and another one in tow! Lovely to see the new back garden area with the seating and the nice view out over the field. We enjoyed sitting there when it was dry!! The cows and the cats on the farm were extra friendly! The barn has lovely comfy beds, a good sized living area and a wet room which is handy for those less mobile. The stairs are narrow to upstairs so take care. I'm sure it was easier to get up them last time - Clearly they have shrunk!! Lovely and clean and comfy with fresh towels and soft bedding. Great base to travel to loads of lovely spots around Peak District and plenty of child friendly attractions nearby. Ruth is a wonderful host and on hand should you need her. We had no problem turning the heating on or off according to the temperature. I didn't even miss having a dishwasher as we ate ready meals every night! Take your time on the narrow road, you will encounter tractors and possibly even an articulated lorry. Would definitely return. The living area was ample and completed with a wonderful wood burner. Both bedrooms were of a good size with comfortable beds. A spacious bathroom with walk in shower was again finished to the highest standard, with individual bath , hand towel and flannel for each member of the party. Having a bedroom, bathroom and living area on the ground floor makes this cottage accessible to all abilities. For the warmer weather there is even a bbq area set behind the cottages. A games room has a pool table, darts board, jigsaws and board games to keep everyone entertained and information leaflets of the local area. We would not hesitate to use Fletcher's Batn when visiting this area again.

Alderwasley is a scattered area of farms and a couple of local pubs located in lovely rolling countryside with undisturbed views for miles, on the southern borders of the Peak District National Park. Nearby Wirksworth is a small, charming market town on the edge of the White Peak, and is full of character, with many buildings of architectural interest, including its magnificent parish church. Visitors will enjoy exploring the ancient "jitties" and courtyards, and the National Stone Centre, as well as the delightful surrounding countryside including nearby Carsington Water and the High Peak Trail. Rock climbing and cycling can be enjoyed here at every level, and there is good walking all around. Well Dressing is unique to Derbyshire, and Wirksworth combines this tradition with a lively carnival. The annual Arts festival attracts international performers of every kind. Close to Alderwasley is Belper which is a town with a long and famous history dating back to the 13th Century, when it was then called Beaurepaire (beautiful retreat), a name that still holds true today. Now a spirited and bustling town, attractions include the North Mill, Long Row and the River Gardens. Beautiful Chatsworth House, Shottle Hall and Haddon Hall are within easy reach, as well as Matlock Bath with its spectacular cable car, the newly restored Ecclesbourne Valley Railway and Gulliver's Kingdom.
