  • "We spent a very pleasant few days at Brightside."

The cottage was very clean and comfortable. A beautiful rural location. It was lovely walking along the lane outside the cottage with views across the valley. Plenty of lovely walks and also the towns of Bakewell and Matlock just a short drive away. It was great that we could charge our car on site and the owners were very helpful with this.

We’re so pleased you enjoyed your stay; thank you for taking the time to provide a review. Best regards, Chris, Virginia and Shelley Property Owner

  • "Really nice accommodation, very well kitted-out kitchen and generally very comfortable."

Great access for walks and local attractions like Chatsworth. Really well managed too - questions pre holiday answered straight away, and we had a couple of little niggles while we were there that were sorted with the minimum of fuss - made the stay all the more relaxing! Highly recommended.

Thank you for the review. We’re so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and delighted that you highlighted the “niggles” for us to sort out. Chris, Virginia and Shelley Property Owner

The toddler bed and high chair available at the property made our packing lighter which was great. The house was very comfortable and had everything we needed. My daughter loved running around the kitchen area which she thought was great fun! Would definitely stay here again!

Thank you for you lovely comments and taking the time to write a review. We’re pleased you enjoyed your stay with family at Brightside. Hopefully see you again one day. Kind regards Chris, Virginia and Shelley Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely family holiday at Brightside."

The barn is in a picturesque spot and is in a great location as it’s close to many family attractions, cycle and walking routes. The barn is beautifully decorated and was extremely clean and was a great set up for a family we particularly appreciated the small pull out third bed in the upstairs bedroom as this was the perfect size and height for our toddler. The welcome gifts were also a lovely touch. The garden is a great size with fab views however it would have been nice to have some nice garden furniture as well as a BBQ as currently there is only a fairly worn out picnic bench which is a shame as with such lovely views it would’ve been nice to sit outside in the sunny weather for dinner and enjoy the surroundings. As in a previous review it would have also been helpful to have some drawers in the downstairs bedroom and some more basic amenities in the kitchen such as foil, cling film, sugar and kitchen roll. However we had a fantastic week and would highly recommend and will definitely be returning!

Thank you for your nice comments and feedback.. We are pleased you had a lovely time here and enjoyed the local area. Your suggestions noted. Hopefully see you again one day. Kind regards Chris, Virginia and Shelley Property Owner

Easy to get to major attractions. The accommodation is set in a picturesque area. It was clean and homely. The welcome pack was greatly appreciated. Would definitely recommend this property.

  • "Beautiful converted barn in a peaceful village location yet close to Bakewell for all amenities."

Holds its heat very well, so needed to open all doors and windows during our July stay! Imagine it is very cosy in winter. As per previous comments, comfortable seating for the four of us in the evening but would not be enough for six adults. No chest of drawers in the downstairs bedroom but plenty of hanging space. Lovely welcome basket and appreciated the body wash in both bathrooms. N.B. If you usually use foil, cling film, baking paper or kitchen roll you'll need to bring your own (we managed without and used the tupperware tub for our picnics).

We’re delighted you enjoyed the stay. Thank you for taking the time to write a review and your feedback/comments noted. Kind regards Chris, Virginia and Shelley Property Owner

  • "The stay was very enjoyable, the facilities were excellent."

We would definitely stay there again. Chris in particular was very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The countryside around the area is very beautiful with lots of country lanes to walk, two major towns not far away in Bakewell and Matlock and only 20 minutes from Chatsworth house. We walked part of the Monsal trail and Dovedale, all within easy driving distance. We didn't get the best of the weather but that's England for you.

Thank you for the feedback; we’re delighted you enjoyed your stay and look forward to seeing you back again! Best regards, Chris, Virginia and Shelley Property Owner

  • "A lovely airy cottage, comfy beds, well decorated."

Lovely walks nearby and a couple of good pubs within walking distance. Well situated for the Monsal and Tissington trails if you like cycling. The only drawback we could see what the fact the lounge did not have enough comfy seating for 6 people and the bathrooms were tiny. As it was just the two of us, however, it was fine.

We’re delighted you enjoyed the stay; thank you for the feedback. Best regards, Chris, Virginia and Shelley Property Owner

  • "We had a really good stay with family on my 70th birthday 'long weekend'."

Everyone loved the property instantly. Lots of character, great bedrooms, warm, excellent parking, extensive kitchen area, spacious. Nice 'welcome' basket too. The property is isolated in a lovely quiet spot. Access roads can be a bit narrow and some 'challenging' potholes so just a little care needed. Its well situated for many ameneties and tourist destinations e.g. Matlock, Dove Valley, Heights of Abraham, Tram Museum. Village pub 'Druids' excellent food and very friendly. Owner very helpful and friendly. Would go back

Sykes has the reach to help you choose what best fits you and, if anything, the pictures and description understate the property - which makes for a lovely surprise on arrival. Owners are on site and very amenable, helpful, pleasant and approachable. Only thing I missed was an additional armchair as the couch got a bit crowded with four of us relaxing... Not Goodbye then, but au revoir..

  • "Brightside is a very well-equipped, clean and comfortable property."

The owners have clearly spent time, love and effort into making this a homely and stylish cottage in the heart of the Peak District. The property is surrounded by farms and walks, including the Nine Ladies at Stanton Moor. There are also two great pubs within a short walking distance. Bakewell, Chatsworth House and several other attractions are a short drive away. We used the EV charger, which was easy and very useful. Our children loved watching the sheep and horses in the neighbouring fields. The owners are easy to approach and very friendly. They made us feel very welcome.
