  • "A lovely property to stay in for our first visit to The Peak District."

It had everything we needed for the four of us, my daughter and her two boys, 12 and nearly 14. Everything is done to a very high standard. The beds were extremely comfortable and the showers powerful. The main area was spotlessly clean but my daughter did find a lot of dust under one of the beds when retrieving a sock which explained why my younger grandson kept sneezing in his room! The garden is at the front of the property and as it was October when we stayed we didn’t make much use of it but had it been the sort of weather to eat outside then one would be in full view of the other properties. This wouldn’t particularly bother us but some people may prefer a little more privacy. The area is beautiful and we visited a few National Trust places and Dovedale an Ilam Park are definitely worth visiting as is The Heights of Abraham. Also Chatsworth is only about 15 minutes away and that was very enjoyable. We did wonder why there was no visitors book as we enjoy reading other people’s comments and advice on where to go. Lastly we appreciated the goodies that were left for us, thank you. I would thoroughly recommend this property.

We are really pleased you had a lovely time at Rowtor and thank you for taking the time to write a review Sorry that the cleanliness under the beds was not up to our standards , I will let the housekeepers know. We don’t have a visitors book , this changed mainly due to Covid, also the new Data Protect laws. pleased you enjoyed the Welcome Pack . Hopefully see you again one day. • "Very comfortable cottage with beautiful views from all windows."

Pity we had to cut short our visit. Only negative comment is that you have to walk across grass to get from the gate to the door. When wet, shoes get muddy and track mud indoors. A few stepping stones would be helpful. We plan on coming back though!

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are please you had a lovely time at Rowtor though your stay was cut short this time. Sorry you had muddy shoes. The lawn is underpinned by a solid mesh which should stop this happening. Thank you for bring this to our attention, we will look into it. Hopefully see you again one day. • "We really enjoyed our stay at Rowtor."

The beautifully converted barn is modern and stylish with everything you need for a very comfortable stay. There is a large secure facility for storing bicycles. There are stunning views all around the property. Excellent location for walks and cycling, although very hilly, but the nearby Monsal and Tissington Trails are perfect for a very scenic and less challenging bike ride. The village was within walking distance with a couple of great pubs, particularly The Druid Inn. The property owners live in the farm house opposite and were very friendly and helpful giving us some tips on local walks.

We’re delighted you enjoyed your stay and in particular the cycling. Thank you for taking the time to review. We look forward to seeing you again. All the best, Chris, Virginia and Shelley. Property Owner

  • "A lovely stay at a beautiful modern property surrounded by farms and very scenic areas."

The property backs up to a farm that has horses on the field that wonder close by, which the kids loved. The kids also loved the walking trails near by and the garden at the front of the property. Everything is within driving distance and there is even a kids playground nearby which can be reached by foot. The owners were simply fantastic. The main owner greeted us when we arrived and was very flexible on various aspects, he even lent us his BBQ allowing us to place our disposable BBQ on top of it and asked if we needed anything else. To top it off, he kindly returned our phone (that we forgot) back to our home address in person, which was not a short distance! Thank you! I would happily stay there again with my family. 10/10.

We were delighted to meet you and your lovely family. And we very much hope to see you here again in the future. All the best, Chris, Virginia and Shelley Property Owner

  • "Being disabled and having the steps to the cottage from the car park it was a struggle every day ."

Booked as we thought it was accessible in all ways The steps to the mezzine had no hand rail not suitable for older person.. The views were lovely ,and facilities were excellent for a family

We are so sorry to hear that you understood that the property was accessible in all ways and how this affected your enjoyment of the property. As you noted there are 5 steps up from where cars are normally parked; however, one can drive (or walk) from the road right up to the front door which has a small ramp to cater for wheel chair access. This does require driving or walking about 25 meters across the front grounds one of our neighboring cottages and we're sorry this was not made altogether clear to you even when we spoke on your arrival. It may not look like a car can drive on it but the lawn is underpinned by a solid mesh to allow this. We have also stopped normal parking on the front of the sister cottage (Brightside) to make sure that access is not blocked for Rowtor guests. There are 2 good size ground floor bedrooms which can accommodate 4 people; and a sofa and chairs in the space encompassing a spacious kitchen, dining and social area that should comfortably accommodate all without even using the sofa on the mezzanine level; we are sorry too that this was not clear to you on booking. Just for clarity for others for whom it may be of interest, each of the downstairs bedroom has an en-suite shower, neither of which are fully wheelchair accessible as they have slightly raised shower trays. We hope your feedback will help others when booking and are sorry not to have fully met your wishes All the very best, Chris, Virginia and Shelley. Property Owner

  • "Fabulous property."

Great views. Stayed for a week. Three large bedrooms with excellent bedding and ensuite. Owner very helpful with setting up sofa bed on mezzanine and getting a travel cot. Clean and bright. We spent a lot of time indoors as the weather was awful. Very generous welcome pack including a gingerbread Christmas Tree! Well equipped kitchen. Both local pubs were excellent and served great food. Negatives are small ones: no pint glasses, no large mugs, no kitchen towel and only one loo roll per toilet. Boot room needs wall hooks for the tons of outdoor coats we had! Would certainly rebook. Thanks
