"Stayed 6 nights in Curlew Barn and had a great time."
The owner is very friendly and helpful. Great location for Alton Towers and the peak district. The barn has all the conveniences you need with the added bonus of a hot tub which is perfect to relax in at the end of the day. Note there is no WIFI but the 4G coverage is great so no issue for us. Plenty of secure parking and a great Indian restaurant 100 metres down the road. The barn conversion is good but there are a couple of low doorways in places. We had two at 6'1 and 6'3 in our group and we managed fine with a bit of care. Lounge area very comfortable. No complaints. Would be happy to return in the future.
Thankyou for your excellent positive comments. We are pleased that the cottage met all of your expectations. Look forward to seeing you and your lovely family soon. Hope the long trip home was good and the flights were like wise. Property Owner

"We had a super week at Curlew Barn."
The property is very comfortable and well equipped. Friendly and helpful owners there to welcome us. They provided very useful information on the local area. We loved the hot tub - beautiful view from the garden. Lots to do nearby. We did lots of walking at the nearby manifold way, near Barlestone, and at the Tittesworth reservoir. We also visited some great places within an easy drive, namely Shugborough Hall, Kedleston hall, Trentham Gardens and Chatsworth. Handy supermarket a few miles away in Leek and M&S food just a few minutes away in Ashbourne. The Bangladeshi restaurant within walking distance receives great, well-deserved, reviews - we are there twice! Will definitely return. This is a very under-rated area with beautiful walking and plenty to entertain visitors.
Thankyou for your positive excellent comments. It is nice to see guests enjoy their holidays and take note of the service we and the tireless staff provide. Hope to see you all again next holidays. Kind regards. Property Owner

"Everything was great."
. just the hot tub is abit much for it will only work 20-30 minutes at a time. Over all 8/10 :)
We were pleased to note that you and your family liked the cottage and had a great holiday with us. All guests are advised on arrival how to operate all the facilities. Staff are always available should you have any difficulties with the use of the amenities. Thanks again; hope to see you all next year. Kind regards, The Owners Property Owner

"6 of us, 2 adults, 2 children, and 2 oldies had a most enjoyable stay."
The accomodation was compact but comprehensive, and very handily placed for visiting the excellent facilities of the region. The host was always available and could not have been more responsive and helpful. The oldies coped well with the limited headroom in the bedroom but it may be unsuitable for anyone with a mobility problem. Putting a chair in the bedroom was very useful. We would certainly do it again.

"Lovely place!"
Situated in a beautiful location and is nice and quiet but with the option to head into the local villages and Leek within 10minutes!

"Lovely barn conversion in the middle of the countryside."
Open plan bedrooms so noise from kitchen/living room could be an issue. Couldn't fault the owner who lives close and keeps the barn conversions in great condition. Perfect location for exploring the countryside and getting into Leek/Alton Towers by car. Hot tub great hit! Pub opposite has closed down and nearest pub is a couple of miles away. Overall lovely stay and very happy with accommodation.

"Lovely place to stay."

"We enjoyed our time at Curlew Barn, it was a very nicely done conversion, with the added luxury of a hot tub, and being within walking distance of a good Indian restaurant."
It felt a bit a squeeze for 6 adults, would have been more comfortable for 4. We were frustrated on our last morning as our host was not around, and left no means of contacting them other than a house phone number, which meant we left without a chance to reclaim our £50 Good Housekeeping deposit.
Thank you. We were pleased to note that you had an enjoyable stay with us in the countryside. Yes, the Hot Tub is always a great success and the weather was brilliant. All guests are provided with our mobile & home telephone numbers in case you need to contact us. (Apologies, we were called away to a family emergency on your departure). Your House Bond was returned to you as per the website instructions. We hope to see you all again next year. Thanks Again. Property Owner

"The owners were friendly and very informative about the area, the house was perfect for our holiday."
Would recommend.

"We (a family of two adults and three children) had a lovely long weekend at Curlew Barn."
The barn is comfortable, cosy and has everything we needed. Henry, the owner, was a fantastic host - from being greeted with a bottle of wine when we arrived quite late on Friday to digging out a football for the kids to play in the field first thing Saturday - he was helpful and friendly and thoughtful. The only suggestion would be to more clearly describe the bedroom set up in the description on the website - but to be honest Henry clarified all that with one phone call. The area is lovely of course. We recommend The Merchants House in Longnor for a meal but Curlew Barn is a lovely peaceful base to enjoy a relaxed evening and very pretty surroundings.

"A beautiful cottage with lovely features, it's really well stocked I'm terms of kitchen equipment - there was everything you needed and more."
Beautiful views and lovely hot tub. Very relaxing break away. The owner Henry was lovely too and took the time to show us how things worked in the cottage and about the local area.
