"The cottage was tucked away in a quiet area of the village, parking next to the garden wall was ok but would be better if the plants growing out of the wall were trimmed a little."
Once inside though we were disappointed to find the cottage dirty. It was clear it had been hoovered but we had to clean the kitchen and bathroom before we could use them, if you looked low level it was evident nothing had been wiped for a very long time and both the kitchen and bathroom floor were dirty. I did let the owner know but she was unconcerned.
There wasn’t a welcome basket of logs as advertised but the heating worked very well once we figured out the little tick in the heating panel.
The quilt in the top bedroom also looked dirty with bits all over the surface.
The kitchen had a lovely granite work surface but the fridge was low level next to the table and was very awkward to get into, if the fridge door were reversed rather than opening towards the far wall it would make it much more ergonomic and useable.
The area was quiet and lots of lovely walks on the doorstep with bigger villages not far away, the local Coop was very well supplied and only a few minutes walk away.
In conclusion this could be a lovely little cottage with a bit more care taken over the presentation and cleanliness and a new mattress for the master bedroom which felt like you were lying on the springs!

Super clean cottage with well equipped kitchen. Log burner was lovely in an August that felt more like Autumn! Smart TV with access to catch up channels great for when the kids are in bed and a good selection of board games too. Great location for easy access to the beautiful countryside and lots of pubs within a short drive serving good food.

"Overall, a really good stay."
The cottage is warm and cosy with lots to do a short drive away. We really liked Bradwell as a place and thought the cottage was spotlessly clean. The TV and wifi were both great and I loved the very spacious shower. Both bedrooms are a good size with storage for cases. We loved cosy evening by the fire.
I wouldn't recommend the cottage for small children - the stairgate cannot be fitted at the top of either set of stairs which was an issue for us. The cottage would be lovely for children who are more steady on their feet.

"Lovely little cottage with loads of character and very well equipped."
Be even better when the pub 4 doors down reopens! The village has a few shops pubs and a chip shop so you can manage without travelling much farther afield for supplies. Area is great for anyone wanting to explore the great outdoors - hills valleys caves and much more right on the doorstep. Would def use again. Think the only negative if i was being picky were the heating controller - not user friendly so struggled to turn it down overnight, had to switch the boiler to "hot water only" then back again in the morning. Parking outside is very tight for anything other than a small car but pub carpark is 50 yards away and some on street parking a bit further down the road too so wasnt an issue.

"We enjoyed having a comfortable place to stay in the beautiful scenery of the Peak District."
Everything that was needed was provided - even a supply of logs for the wood burner, which we were happy to replenish at the local shop. This was needed as the electronic control for the water and heating was a mystery to us. Fortunately the shower heats it's own water and we could boil a kettle for washing up. We trust that the cleaner found everything in order after we had left? We stripped the bed and put everything in the bag provided, along with the used towels from the kitchen and bathroom as instructed, although they were still damp so we hope the cleaner went in later the same day. We also put out all the bins as instructed. It appeared that they hadn't been emptied for some time and the food waste bin was particularly disgusting and will need disinfecting once emptied.
As an older couple we did find the folding pic-nic bench / kitchen table arrangement heavy and cumbersome - a small table with folding chairs would have suited us much better. We would also suggest that having a small bin either in the bedroom(s) or bathroom for discared tissues and other items would be helpful.
It was a shame that the nearest pub, the Bowling Green Inn, was closed for refurbishment, leaving the Shoulder of Mutton as the only pub serving food - on the evenings it was open. Consequently on some evenings it was necessary to drive to find a pub for an evening meal, so at least one of us could not enjoy a drink with our meal. The other pub in the village, the White Heart Inn doesn't do food. As it is not possible to get a meal in the village every evening your listing could be clearer around the options available.

"Although we were aware of this, the table and chairs in the kitchen was a cramped situation."
The shower unit sliding door was broken at the top; we informed the owner. The back garden was disappointing and the oven was very dirty.
The rest of the cottage was very pleasant, but suggest a chair in the bedroom.
We had a very pleasant stay in the cottage which was well located for exploring the peak district.

"Great location for access to Castleton, Edale and surrounding areas and good views of surrounding hills in quiet village."
Useful information and recommendations for pubs from the owners. Comfortable living room and well-equipped kitchen and spotlessly clean. The stairs are steep/tricky with luggage and kitchen table isn't ideal as fold-out picnic bench which was just about OK for 3 adults would be difficult for 4 adults, and once opened, it's not possible to fully open the fridge or shut the kitchen door. Also, as other reviewers commented, the heating is difficult to control/ get comfortable temperature across the 3 floors. We enjoyed our stay and had great weather for walks without getting wet.

The cottage was very cosy with everything we needed. We did find putting the bench unit in the kitchen up and down difficult as it was very heavy so we left it up during our stay!

"Gorgeous cottage with lovely decor & personal touches."
Very clean. Perfect for all the walking we did. The only thing I would suggest is a mattress topper for the main bedroom, I could feel the springs! Local people were all lovely, helpful & chatty. Wish I could've stayed longer. I would definitely recommend staying here.

We also really liked the location right by the pub in a lovely village and the views from the bedroom upstairs were great.
Would definitely recommend.

"The cottage was great and we really enjoyed our stay here - it's a great location (right next to a great pub)."
The only issue we had was that on arrival (Al almost 3 hours after the check in time we realised that the cottage had not been cleaned and the beds had not been changed. This was very disappointing as we were 4 hours from home. The issue was sorted relatively quickly and the cleaners were very friendly. What we weren't very pleased with is the attitude of the owner when we called to sort this out - we appreciate that these things happen but asking us to speak to the cleaners and work out what they would be able to do on the circumstances was passing the buck and not what we would expect or a responsible owner. This was very disappointing. We haven't marked the cottage down in our rating as this isn't fair, but wanted to make the point that the way this was dealt with was in our view unacceptable.

"Really clean and comfortable cottage the only reason I dropped a star was because the central heating was a little random and came on at random times, parking on the road outside the house is a little suspect due to the narrow road , wasn't a big problem as just left car in the pub car park 20 yards away."

"4 Cherry Tree Cottages is a lovely base from which to explore this part of the Peak District."
It has a very cosy, beautifully decorated living room and two pretty bedrooms. The kitchen/diner is quite a small space, and four adults might find it a bit of a squash seated round the table.
Wonderful walking right from the front door, and Castleton, Edale and Stanage Edge no more than a fifteen minute drive away.

"Cute tiny cottage in a lovely village."
Perfect location to explore all the local beauty spots. The village has 4 great pubs, three of which do food - all quite different but all extremely friendly and providing excellent meals. Parking at the cottage is no problem at all but because our car is quite big we left it in the local pub car park (20 steps from the cottage) - because of this my husband “validated” his parking each evening with a pint in the pub. We would definitely consider Cherry Tree cottage in the future if we ever decide to go back to this AMAZING part of the country.

Ideal for a couple or family with a teen (converted attic bedroom offers privacy) but 2 couples may struggle with only 1 bathroom. Lots to recommend - The Bakehouse in the village, The George (& Pizza Box) in Castleton, The PackHorse Inn at Little Longstone, the Curry Cottage at Stoney Middleton & Stella’s Kitchen (with the lovely Stella soon to be featured on Hairy Bikers) walks from everywhere, we tried
the village to Brough, Hope, Mam Tor & Castleton & the Monsal Trail (great biking) & the views from Monsal Head. Weather wasn’t kind but we’ll be back for more walking, eating & relaxing!

"The cottage was situated in a lovely part of the village, within easy walking distance for shops and pubs."
When you first arrive, from the outside, the cottage may appear a little small, but don't form any opinion until you get inside. Both bedrooms were a good sized double. The bathroom was well fitted out with a large shower cubical and we found the lounge to be a good sized cosy and welcoming room for four adults to spend the evening after a long day of walking. The whole cottage has been thoughtfully renovated and decorated to a high standard. The furnishings and appliances are also of a high standard and we felt everything had been put together as you would for your own home with a good attention to detail and comfort. The response from the owners of the property, to a couple of questions, was very prompt, positive and extremely friendly. We have used this kind of accommodation on many occasions, often with a little disappointment. All four of us described 4 Cherry Tree cottages as a truly great find and should we decide to stay in this area again, would check its availability first.
