There were many little 'extras' like kitchen items (salt, pepper, tea, coffee, ketchup etc) and also a basket of items for our dog - (treats, blankets, poo bags, dog bowels). It was very comfortable and perfect base for me and my family to explore the local area. Bradwell itself is lovely with a great fish and chip shop & pubs to have a good local evening meal.

The cottage is well equipped and cosy. The owners could be contacted if needed. The patio is in a sun trap and our car fitted on the drive nicely. A quiet location, but plenty going on in Bradwell, local pubs, fish and chip shop, co-op, local store, and a bakery with pizza's in the evening. We highly recommend this cottage and hope to return again. 5 stars from us!

  • "Nice cottage for a week stay."

I would say advertising it as with a garden is misleading; it consists of patio furniture on the side of the property leading onto the open drive with no gate or fence and completely unsafe for a dog off a lead. Downstairs rooms lovely and cool in the heat, the upstairs felt warm-stuffy much of the time and smelt a little stale. Not a bad size for a short stay but maybe not best for those with small children due to steep stairs and very little free available floor space. Any noise upstairs sounds rather like an earthquake from downstairs!

When I called round ,your partner said that everything was fine. It`s a pity you dont`t seem to share your thoughts on our holiday cottage. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was spotless, well stocked and warm."

The patio are is a nice little sun trap in the afternoons. There are plenty of both easy and challenging walks in the local area, many situated close to pubs for lunch along the way. Bradwell has a very well stocked Co-op around 100m away from the property as well as 2 pubs. Tip - Book ahead if you are eating in the Shoulder of Lamb. The driveway is tight but we easily parked 2 cars with 1 of them being an estate car. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

  • "The shared access is something of a challenge but does not detract from what is a loveable quaint cottage set in idyllic surroundings."

We really liked the "upside down" layout and whilst we did not use the wood burner we're sure it would add to the general cosiness of the property. The location is perfect to access many of the delights in Derbyshire (Castleton, Bakewell, Tideswell, Millers Dale, Buxton and the Monsal Trail) and the village itself provides everything to make a stay pleasurable; a Co-op store, village shop, hardware store, chippy AND, 3 x pubs - to name but a few.... what's not to like?

  • "Have been visiting the Peak District for a great number of years and Town End Barn was one of the nicest places we have stayed."

Bradwell is a lovely village where everybody is friendly. The cottage is very well equipped and comfortable. The upside-down layout (bedrooms & bathroom downstairs, with lounge, diner & kitchen upstairs) may take some getting to used to for some people, but it posed no issues for us. Be aware that access to the upper floor is via a wooden, slightly winding staircase and may be a tad difficult for those people unsteady on their feet. Off-road parking was a bonus, especially in a fairly busy village. However, there are absolutely no noise issues at all. After a day of touring/sight-seeing, the outside seating area was most welcome for an afternoon tea , or glass of wine. We took full advantage of all three village pubs, Fish &Chip shop, Co-Op Store and Post Office. The White Hart provided the warmest of welcomes and a quiz night on a Wednesday evening (where we did very poor....). Unfortunately there was no food on offer, but the log burner/fire was great. The Shoulder of Mutton also provided a very warm welcome, with the added bonus of serving food. The Sunday Lunch was great (booking advisable). Although there were a number of different opinions relating to the Fish & Chip shop, we found the food to be of a good standard. The Co-Op mini-supermarket store offered everything we needed. All-in-all, we had a fantastic week, made all the better by the lovely accommodation and welcoming people of Bradwell. We will return.

Ideally situated in the pretty village of Bradwell which offers all facilities you could ask for on the doorstep. The cottage lived up to its rating and provided every amenity needed for an enjoyable and comfortable holiday with our dog. Worth noting from an earlier review was the internet access has recently been upgraded to a high speed system connected to a modern multimedia television system offering on demand services. As previously mentioned the village is ideally placed to visit all of the sights of the Peak District without driving for hours. There are many walking trails which can be reached directly or within a short drive from the cottage. Also worthy of mention is the cottage is within two miles distance from the Derbyshire and Lancashire Gliding Club and would make an ideal base for a weeks flying at this excellent facility. Very happy to recommend this highly and certainly equalled the standard of previous Sykes cottages we have stayed in.

We had fabulous weather so didn’t need to use the log burner but I’m sure it makes things very cosy when it’s cold. The wifi was quite slow - I’m aware this might be a constraint of the local area, and it didn’t impact our trip - but just mentioning it as it wouldn’t be suitable if you were planning to work remotely, as we sometimes do on a trip. Our dog really enjoyed himself and although the playing field just across from the cottage is dog-free, there are public footpaths/bridle paths nearby for walks. Bradwell itself was a lovely place to stay - quiet and friendly. The Co-op and a couple of nice pubs are only a couple of minutes walk away. I would definitely recommend this cottage to others.
