  • "The property is situated on a quiet lane away from the main through road in the village."

The garden is large but no section is enclosed so dogs have to be taken out on the lead. We read “enclosed patio” on the description as meaning securely enclosed, but found it not to be and I should have checked this. The furnishings are dated but comfortable. The kitchen is large and we would have liked a table and chairs in that room as we spent a lot of time there socialising while cooking etc. There was only a green garden bin so we weren’t sure where to put our recycling and general waste. The house book stated that there was 3 different coloured bins. A couple of dirty plates were found in the cupboard and some tissue in one of the beds. We would go back purely based on the space and quietness of the location.

  • "We enjoyed our stay very much, thank you."

It's a perfect house for a family getogether....spacious , clean , homely and comfortable. We loved that you could just stroll into the village for supplies and walks. The only thing we would have liked was a washing line or a clothes horse. We would definitely love to come back !!

  • "The house was perfect for our stay, spacious and comfortable."

The only downside was the lack of kitchen equipment such a large pans and cooking utensils. The children would have appreciated more board games to play. The garden is beautiful with stunning views and lots of great walks from the front door.

Thank you for your message . We have put more games in the house and we apologise that the utensils and large pans that were there before seem to have been removed from the property new ones will be acquired. Property Owner

My grandson (age 6 ) loved playing Scrabble and Monopoly in our quieter moments ! We all enjoyed great amenities and for 7 of us lots of space too ! The entrance hall was super practical with the adverse wet weather. We would return ! Jx

  • "Great house with plenty of room for the 4 of us."

Well kitted out kitchen where the only thing lacking for us was some weighing scales. Lovely big garden with fantastic views and some good walks on your doorstep. One thing to note, the bin men came on Tuesday where the book says Wednesday. Don’t know if this was a one off but we missed them - soz.

  • "We loved the house, we loved the garden, what would have been nice was an umbrella for the outside sitting area which facing south gets hot."

Holiday brochures for the area would have been handy. We had a bit of a problem sorting the recycling for the correct bins could be made clearer. Otherwise everything you needed was there which gave us a great week.

Thank you so much for your feedback. We appreciate all your comments. In the handbook we had written the information re the different bins / recycling which we know can be confusing but we will of course look to make this clearer. We will find some leaflets . There is a tourist information office in Ashbourne and Bakewell for future reference also. Property Owner

About the location

HARTINGTON

Bakewell 10 miles; Buxton 10 miles.

Hartington, situated in the Dove Valley in the Peak District National Park, was an important market centre in the Middle Ages, having been granted a market charter in 1203. Today the ever-popular village boasts lovely tea rooms, a cheese shop, old curiosity shops, traditional pubs and a splendid market square where the stone-carved village pump, once an important source of water for the villagers, still stands on the green. The local bars stock local ales brewed at the Leatherbritches Brewery in Fenny Bentley and Whim Ales in Hartington itself. The former Hartington railway station, about a mile and half from the village itself, is now a picnic area and the converted track is known as the Tissington Trail, popular with both walkers and cyclists. Hartington is also a good starting point for walking along Beresford Dale, a beautiful place with its curiously formed cliffs and rocks. Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are both within a 20 minute drive, and Alton Towers is within easy reach.
