"The property was beautiful and very comfortable and cosy after being out walking all day."
Us and our dogs were made to feel very welcome by Maeve the owner. The property is in a very beautiful location just below The Great Ridge and it is an excellent base for exploring the Dark Peak and the Dales. We will definitely be back there for a stay in the future.

"We are frequent visitors to the Peak District and this is by far the loveliest place we have stayed at."
Maeve is wonderful and made us (and our dogs) very welcome. She was close at hand, but gave us total privacy too. The cottage is very nicely furnished and very comfortable and the yard and gardens well maintained. Set in a great location with fantastic walks from the door. Perfect. Very highly recommend.
Sarah, thank you so much for visiting. Hope we might see you again sometime. Kind regards. Maeve Property Owner

Tucked away on the outskirts of the pretty village of Castleton, Derbyshire, on the owner’s non-working farm, is this traditional, one-bedroom abode, Shippon Cottage.
Benefitting from rural country views and easy access to the Peak District National Park, Shippon Cottage is a great base for a couple looking to explore this region of Derbyshire.
Internally, the cottage is tastefully laid out with the upstairs incorporating a bedroom and living area with a spectacular, four-poster king-size bed.
The ground-floor features a well-appointed kitchen where you can rustle up hearty meals to be enjoyed at the dining table, whilst the sitting area is where you can spend your down time, curling up beside the gas stove and choosing a film to watch from the Smart TV.
Escape outside and get the barbecue going before relaxing at the patio furniture and enjoying your favourite tipple.
Explore the charm of Castleton, where you can wander the streets and browse a selection of quirky shops, tea rooms and cafes, before seeing the mighty Peveril Castle perched on a hill overlooking the village.
Lace up your walking boots and tackle the surrounding area, with scenic trails the National Trust Dark Peaks, or appreciate the views from Mam Tor.
Bakewell is accessible by car, a market town lying on the River Wye, where visitors can walk across the historic Bakewell Bridge or spend time practising their golf swing at the aptly-named Bakewell Golf Club.
