  It was warm and cosy and clean and had everything you could want including a very good 'welcome pack' of milk, bread etc. Unfortunately the weather didn't mean I could see the sunset but I'm sure it would be lovely and the view itself was very good. I would recommend the cottage to anyone wishing to visit Chelmorton and surrounding area.

  It was clean and cosy.A welcome pack when we arrived was a lovely surprise.Everything we needed was available in the cottage,including towels, bedding and tea towels . There is a fantastic pub in the village serving amazing food a very short walk from the cottage. Highly recommend this holiday home.

• "A cosy cottage in a lovely rural village."

  Everything you could need in the house, and with some beautiful walks closeby. We didn’t have great weather, but it was still lovely and warm. The WiFi was very slow (4-6 Mbps), but then again it is a rural area. The play castle is very dilapidated, with Sherwood Forest growing inside it, and should be removed from the listing.

• "Cottage was spotlessly clean when we arrived."

  Lounge was comfortable, only thing lacking was a small coffee table, we had to put mugs on floor on coasters which could have lead to accidently spillage. Kitchen was small but facilities in it were satisfactory. Bedroom was large and views from Sunset Window was lovely. Bed was too hard for me but that is just a personal opion and everybody is different. Bathroom was a squeeze. Saying all this it is only a cottage for two people. Cottage was in a good area for walking. We walked straight from the door and called in at the local pub The Church Inn on finishing our walks. As cottage was down hill from the pub it was ideal for rolling down after having had a few. Buxton and Bakewell were close by which was ideal. We would certainly consider coming back.

  Cottage well fitted out. Very effective electric radiators unfortunately a gale comes through the letter box making the kitchen very cold. The previous tenant had not washed up properly hence only 4 stars for cleanliness. The Church Inn is easy walking distance, serves good food and is very friendly.

  Chelmorton is a great location to use as a base for exploring the Peak District and this cottage has all the amenities you need with an excellent pub at the top of the village.

• "The cottage is charming, well equipped and the location is perfect for enjoying the peace and quiet of the Derbyshire countryside."

  It's situation,on the outskirts of Buxton is very convenient for lots of the area's attractions. We particularly liked the king size bed,set in the huge bedroom. We both found the sofa a bit too low for sitting on for any length of time. As the weather was very cold during our stay, we made good use of the oil filled radiator, particularly in the kitchen. As mentioned in the description of the property, the wi-Fi signal is weak, meaning only text messages can be received. Many people might find that a bonus!

• "We have a lovely stay!"

  Tracy introduced herself to us and gave us lots of information on the area. Tracy also guided us over the phone as, we turned up at the wrong cottage. Tracy gave us clear instructions over the phone, the night before. My wife and I terrible for finding places even, with a sat navigation. We couldn't find the plugs for our chargers so, we charged our phones in the car over night. Tracy find us a kind mechanic who, recharched our car for us. The paddock by the cottage is ideal for dogs and beautiful views. There are 2 benchs on the paddock so, ideal for somebody like me with bad knees. There is a pub not far away called The church Inn, very nice food and very large portions. The only downside to the trip is no Internet & limited phone connection. This only affected us as, I couldn't check on family members. There is a telephone box down the road however, it didn't appear to work. Overall a very quiet friendly village & most people you pass acknowledged you. Thank you again Tracy for making our stay so special. Linda & Donna

• "Our 2nd time here so we knew what to expect, cottage had everything we needed for our stay."

  Very comfortably bed and a warm cottage all round, definitely needed to dry our wet gear. We walked from the cottage mainly and only used the car once, super pub 500 metres away with excellent beer and food.. No mobile signal so reliant on broadband signal, broadband needs upgrading as hub shared between 3 cottages. This would enable a smart TV to be installed as Freeview channels are often not available.

• "The property was in a lovely quiet position and was very cosy."

  The bed was extremely comfortable as was the sofa and we enjoyed the extra large TV. The kitchen was one of the worst designed we’ve ever experienced!! The sink was tucked into a corner under a cupboard making it very difficult for a tall person to wash up without being bent over at an uncomfortable angle. The taps didn’t reach far enough over the sink and as soon as you tried to rinse dishes water went everywhere. The drainer was not easily accessible for a second person drying up and the oven and fridge were a long way from the sink. You could do with a couple of hooks behind the bedroom and bathroom doors. All in all we had a lovely stay in a lovely area we know well.

• "Such a beautiful cottage in a beautiful village."

  Very welcoming upon arrival, warm, lights and TV were on and it felt like we were really welcome. Tea/coffee and other goodies were appreciated. Huge double bed and crisp white sheets and fluffy towels. The only slight negative was the hot water, it seemed to run out all of the time and not enough to fill the lovely large bath but only a small negative.

Close to a great pub and lovely Derbyshire walks etc. If we were being fussy a few hooks in the kitchen and bathroom would be a good edition and a small coffee table to stop drinks being on the floor would be great in the lounge. Thanks very much for the hospitality and we will be back.

• "This property was booked at extremely short notice on 18 January!"

  From first finding the property on the Sykes' website, we arrived in the property six hours later! On arrival the cottage was clean and all the electric heaters were on full. The cottage was cold, which was understandable, as the owners had very little time to prepare for out visit - but within a few hours the cottage had warmed up and was very comfortable. The equipment which was available was of a very good quality, e.g 50in TV in the main living area, Dyson vacuum cleaner, which is not our common experience in small rental properties! There was good communication from the owners who are very local if help should be needed (not so in our case) and a lovely welcome pack was available on arrival. We had a most relaxing few days in a very peaceful location and a cosy cottage.

• "Lovely comfy cottage in nice quiet village."

  Well equipped kitchen that was pleasant to cook in. 2 massive tv's, so got the luxury of tv in bed for the first time in a while. Also enjoyed the blu-ray player downstairs, while doing a jigsaw on the table. Comfy bed with shiny white sheets. Nice chilled holiday. Only 10-15 mins from Buxton and Bakewell so easy access to shops, theatre, Bakewell pudding, and fuel. I can highly recommend Chee Dale for a fun walk nearby. Runs parallel to the monsal trail, so park at Miller's Dale. Head straight down to the river and follow it round, then walk back along the monsal trail to the huge car park, and loo. Stunning valley and lots of fun scrambling bits.

  It is as others have said a little tired. It was a lovely touch to have milk, bread and beans as a welcome, along with tea and coffee, after a long day at work and travelling north, was appreciated. Having the meadow for Bronte to have a morning and evening run about was perfect. The church inn up the road served fabulous food and again nice and dog friendly, for us this was the icing on the cake.

  The cottage was super clean and well equipped. Carpet and worktop a tad tired but perfectly usable. However, the mattress was way past its sell by date and desperately needs replacing. The 3 acre meadow and local walks were a delight for us and our dog and much appreciated.

We have a policy of changing mattresses every five years, which this mattress is well within that time, and is three years earlier than recommended. We are sorry it wasn't to your liking. • "All facilities tired."

  Carpet threadbare. Sofa uncomfortable. Kitchen still had the same worn marks as two years ago on the worktop. Water seeps from around sink into cupboard below. Dust all over table and legs of table hadn't been touched for weeks. Kitchen crockery still dirty. Had to wash everything before we could use it. Bathroom needs an update, shower awkward to use. Plus side was the field where we could excersise the dog and where the cottage is , is central to all the beautiful places in Derbyshire and the Peak District.

Parking was great, just outside the back door. Good to have the paddock available to exercise our dog. Fabulous walks from the door, which we loved. Chelmorton is a nice village, well located with a good pub that does very nice meals and is dog friendly. Will definitely stay again thank you.

  Visited in November and had a mixture of weather over our long weekend (heavy rain, frost, sleet and sunshine!). The owners had provided a welcome pack on arrival which was much appreciated as we arrived late in the evening. Cottage was cosy and a well-thought out conversion with all we needed. Parking very convenient. Great to have use of the fields for walking the dog too. The only negative comment is that the kitchen was very cold in comparison with the rest of the cottage - no radiator in there and a cold stone floor. Overall, a lovely stay and a beautiful part of the world.

  This cottage is a warm comfortable place to stay, generally very clean but required a little TLC. sink worktop needed sealing, had been leaking water underneath for sometime! bed very comfortable, lounge lacks a coffee table.Frying pan and baking tins need replacing, take your own.   First impressions are everything and this cottage did not let us down from when we arrived to when we left. Nicely situated with stunning views from the paddock , ideal for walking the dog or just sitting watching the sun go down, we found this to be a very relaxing weekend and to make things even better the Church Inn, which serves excellent food, is only a few minutes walk away and dogs are welcome. • "The cottage is based in a quiet village which was ideal for our stay."

  Perfect for dog owners as there a 3 acre paddock next door which the holiday cottages are given access to to exercise the dog. It is close to many attractions. The local shops are only about 4-5 miles away. Note there is no telephone reception which suited us perfectly but there is WiFi. The cottage was well equipped, and clean. We will definitely be staying again

• "From the moment we opened the door the cottage more than met our expectations."

  The accommodation (providing an ideal base for a couple) was spotlessly clean, warm, cosy and very welcoming. Everything we needed was provided with the addition of a welcome pack which was appreciated. We enjoyed the large screen television with DVDs provided, (just like being at the cinema without the popcorn), and we could even watch TV in bed if we wanted. All facilities from kitchen equipment to the shower were excellent and parking was very convenient. The cottage is well situated for walking in the Peak District and some walks can be done straight from the door. We were very lucky and were treated to the unexpected February sunshine for our long walks. The weather combined with the lovely accommodation ensured that this was a very enjoyable holiday. • "Stone floor in kitchen was freezing luckily we had a rug in the car and used that no heating in kitchen crockery very sparse only 2 dinner plates side plates and mugs chipped glasses I know it was only for two people but if a friend visited we couldn’t all have a brew!"

  !!!!t the accommodation was clean but very jaded fraying rug and carpet back door was very difficult to open sticking and swollen.a bit concerned that the only fire escape other than the back door ie bathroom window was battened across so you wouldn’t be able to escape ?the weather was bad and thumbs up for the paths being cleared for us .

  Also, given that I was only staying for three nights, a smaller loaf of bread with a better use by date might have been more appropriate: I certainly couldn’t have eaten a whole large loaf in one day! Beans also a good idea but maybe not in a dented tin? Overall, however, a comfortable little cottage in a lovely area.

• "Had a lovely time."

  Cottage was perfect. Only one downside. We broke a plate while we were there. I informed the owner and offered to pay for the plate. The owner asked for £8. That did seem a lot for a plate. I will pay the money, but it did seem a bit petty seeing as we were paying hundreds of pounds for our stay. I was surprised, I was expecting the owner to just 'right it off'. Some of the crockery (plates etc) was stamped as 'seconds'. I know this is going to sound ridiculous, but my abiding memory of 1 Primitive Mews is now going to be having to pay for a plate. Because of that I wouldn't go back there. Which is a shame as the cottage and the location were perfect.

  Carpets,bathroom and kitchen could do with a refurb. The paddock was an excellent bonus for exercising the dog. Would also have liked a back garden. With having taken a dog it was bad that people from the other cottages thought it was a good idea to park by our back door so the dog had to be on a lead from the door to the paddock.

  There is a pub that serves food at the top of the road however we did not venture to it. The only negative with the cotrage is that although they do allow a dog they are not allowed upstairs which was a little bit of a problem for us as our little lady is old and although doesn't sleep on the bed has always slept in the same room as us and caused us a few problems. I totally understand but would suggest that it is writren on the booking site as we would not have booked it if we had been informed.

  We stayed for new year and did not want to come back. Even our dog loved it!! We had two fields which we could use and let him run his legs off. The bedroom is huge with a very comfortable bed and chair to relax in. The bathroom has a huge bath and great shower. The living room was very spacious and warm with a massive tv and DVD’s to enjoy. The kitchen has everything you need to cook with and even has a washing machine for use All in all a great stay and we will be staying again

• "The cottage had everything we needed."

  I particularly liked the extras like the milk and bread provided. The only thing we could fault was the matress was on the hard side for us but that's just a preference thing. Lovely location with loads of places nearby to explore. The local pub was very welcoming and had tasty (very filling) meals. Would definatly stay again.

  Very enjoyable village well positioned for sight seeing wonderful village pub at top of hill opposite church pub called church inn good choice of meals about 8 mins from cottage all the info at cottage for you to read had complete freedom never see the owners of the cottage would recommend cottage for single person or two people would stay there again just for the peace and quiet

  The kitchen could perhaps do with some heating as it can be cold in the winter when preparing food. Otherwise no problems and a good location within a 5 minute walk of the excellent village pub.

• "Holiday was very good, cottage very warm and comfortable, Welcome pack was very useful, only downsides were that there was no light over the sink to see to wash up properly and most important for me was that there was no slip mat in the bath."

  ..being nearly 80 and unable to sit down in a bath I rely on showers but without a slip mat this was not possible ( I had slipped once ) so had to make do with wash-downs otherwise we had a very peaceful few days away from it all..
