Spotlessly clean. Good walks all around, and the paddock was an absolutely great place to take the dog. Communication with the owners was easy and helpful.

The property is situated in the heart of the peak district so its a great way to explore the area but you also have everything on your doorstep as well, which we did a local walk and visited the pub (great food). There is also a large paddock for your dog to freely run around which was a great added bonus for our dog. The cottage itself had everything you need to make it a comfortable stay as well. A lovely touch was to have a welcome pack on arrival as well. We certainly will be booking up again in the future.

  • "Could do better."

..we had all ready contacted owner about 1 problem which was swiftly sorted and apology made. I didn't want to make our holiday into a constant complaint process as just wanted to enjoy our break however, The cleanliness and general maintenance could be better..broken bath panel, missing cover for plug on jacuzzi bath which meant you had to be careful not to scrape skin on. Black mould around bath and shower. But the worst is the fridge.. absolutely stinks(although perfectly clean inside!) i see this has been a problem for previous guests so could probably do with replacing! Nice clean bed linen, although way too much of it...luckily plenty of storage room under beds to stash the excess

The Fridge Freezer has been replaced. Property Owner

Might be a bit tight for 4 people. Ideally situated for seeing the beautiful area. Great for dog families and the use of the paddock very handy. The fridge really needs some attention as there is a bad smell in it, obviously known about as a few deodorisers in it. Otherwise all good thanks.

The cottage was well equipped throughout though the details of the Wi-Fi, logs, directions to the meadows etc need to be included within the welcome pack as I didn’t see these at first. Also the beds could benefit from a memory foam topper as the spring mattress was fairly uncomfortable though I appreciate this my preference. Overall a great week’s stay in a great cottage, location and the addition of a small garden was perfect for my dog.

Great news that the cottage met with your needs, meadow great for the dog to enjoy the holiday too. Mattresses are replaced regularly from a quality hotel supplier. Property Owner

We took the NOW TV stick which worked very well. The only negatives really was the lack of a shower screen over the bath and the kitchen sink could benefit from more light. I think the online information could do with updating. We didn't need to take oven gloves as requested, and weren't sure about washing up liquid and cloths. Chelmorton is a lovely village which we found very central to the surrounding towns. The pub was amazing.

  • "The cottage was situated in the most beautiful village and the local pub (The Church Inn) served delicious meals and great ales."

The added bonus of the meadow to take the dog for a walk and let him off lead in a safe environment was great along with an enclosed garden. The jacuzzi bath was luxurious although after use you did have to Boost the hot water so others could have a shower (this was fine once my parents had gone home after a weekend with me there). The cottage was nicely furnished, tv was huge (my Dad loved that) and the beds were comfortable. Only real negative was the barking dogs opposite the cottage but this only disturbed me on the day I decided to stay in for a “duvet day” (it was -4 outside)!!!

Lovely to hear that you and your parents had enjoyed the stay and the amenities suited. unfortunately we are unable to 'rota' the animal behaviour outside but a reminder that we are a working farm village and sheep dogs can be exuberant. Happy to hear the stay was enjoyable. Property Owner

Loved the meadow that we had access to and would love to see it earlier in the year when the wild flowers are at their best. We will certainly be back and wouldn’t worry about the cold as it was so cosy. The off-street parking was ideal. Village so peaceful and friendly. A few days away in a lovely clean cottage, with coffee and tea making goods on arrival. Walks from the doorstep, and the very wonderful added bonus of a large private hay meadow, with pathways cut into it to let the dog off lead and play ball. We went up Chelmorton low, a high mound at the edge of Chelmorton. We drove a short five minute drive to the wye valley car park with our own pack ups. This was where we took some beautiful scenic walks down by the river wye and had picnic lunches, taking a different walk each time. There is no WiFi or phone signal at the house, but we were able to find a phone signal and WiFi in the meadow, which has two park benches to sit and watch the world go by. We were in the meadow every day to let off the dog in the morning or evening. We went totally self catering and enjoyed it very much, however if that is not what you want, the local pub would be an excellent place to eat as other reviews have stated. It is just up the road a couple of minutes, with WiFi and walks from the door. We did not find a lack of signals a problem as we felt great being on top of the world in this beautiful area, so far above sea level. We would both recommend this to anyone who wants to relax and unwind properly.

I only discovered on arrival that you couldn't leave the dogs alone in the cottage. So I didn't feel that they were actually dog friendly. There was no WiFi and virtually no cell phone reception in the village. This is mentioned in the cottage information when you arrived but not on the listing. Without WiFi or phone service it was impossible to communicate with friends and impossible to navigate around. There is a huge bath with power jets but there wasn't enough water in the tank to reach the power jets. The plug kept lifting so I ended up sitting in 2 inches of luke warm water. You have to stand up to switch on the water for the hand held shower head to rinse your hair after you've washed it and of course by this point the bath is very slippy. There are no hand rails to hold on to. So overall although the cottage looked great it was actually a very disappointing experience.
