  • "The cottage was ideal for our week in Derbyshire."

The 3 en-suite bedrooms were great as we were 3 couples. It was well furnished, had everything we needed and being located right next door to The Church Inn was such a bonus! We had several meals at The Church Inn, every one of them was excellent! The Quiz and Bingo on a Monday was fun too! We all agreed that we would stay here again!

  • "Three lage double bedrooms with on suite excellent."

Parking and access to the pub, excellent. Only down side was the lounge/kitchen/dinner is a little snug for six adults. One person in the kitchenette and its full. Couldn't really get 5 adults on the settee comfortably. But for a short stay it was brilliant. Owners are friendly and the church inn pub was fantastic with some if the best food we have had. Highly recommend. Thanks

Love the 3 en-suite bedrooms which is ideal for couples. Only downside is the smaller living area which is snug for 6 adults. Loved the location and pub next door.

Living area a little small. We were a party of 4 with 2 dogs and felt if 6 adults were staying the living area would be a little small for comfort. However overall a splendid stay with super pub next door.

  • "This cottage has to be the BEST we have had the pleasure to stay."

It's location is ideal for visiting local places of interest, going for walks that have amazing views. It's own private car park to the rear of the Church Inn Pub which the cottage is located to the rear of. The owners who run the pub are really friendly, they serve amazing food. We would recommend this cottage without hesitation and intend to return if it is available. A real Gem of a place

Delighted with the en-suite bedrooms with plenty of space to store clothes etc. The kitchen although compact had most facilities anyone would need when away from home. The Church Inn pub next door served excellent food and was very inviting. We really enjoyed our visit and would certainly consider returning in the future.

Everything you need in cottage. Great to walk down steps into pub where food is delicious. Walk out your door straight onto walks or short drive to many more. Would recommend and stay here again.

  • "Great location, great pub next door with very friendly staff and owners, good beer and food."

The bedrooms are spacious and well presented with en-suite facilities however the reception area was a bit small for 6 adults. The addition of an outside covered area (a porch roof over one of the doors) to remove wet/ muddy coats and boots in the dry would help to keep the place tidy but these are minor points of feedback to improve an otherwise enjoyable stay.

  • "A superb cottage - spotlessly clean and comfortable."

All 3 bedrooms are en suite and each one has a television. The cottage has the added advantage of being next door to an excellent pub which has an extensive menu and serves very good meals. About a dozen steps have to be negotiated to reach your parked car or to reach the pub. As long as you can manage steps, you will enjoy an excellent stay in a very well appointed cottage. Both the pub and the cottage are dog friendly, with the cottage having a completely secure patio area

  • "The property was lovely."

Bedrooms were a good size all with en-suite. The living space was small for 6 adults. In one bedroom the noise from a fan outside kept the couple in that room awake, this lack of sleep meant the holiday wasn’t as enjoyable as it could have been. The pub next door was lovely with great food.

There is a communal park but this was full on arrival (Sunday p.m.) and parking by the Pub is very restrictive, this happened twice. The cottage has the cooking, dining and seating area all in one space and the three of us coped but for 6 it would be tight. Cottage well provisioned and equipped. The Pub next door is excellent with food, service and range of drinks. There is no shop in the village the nearest is either Bakewell or Buxton so arrive with plenty of supplies or its a long drive

Lovely clean and tidy rooms all with ensuite facilities. Kitchen is small but modern and lounge/diner has plenty of room for 6 people. Private parking and its own back entrance to the quiet, friendly pub across the courtyard, which has a good selection of food and beers. Chelmorten is a very small village but Buxton and Bakewell are only a short drive away.

  • "Lovely, comfortable cottage in a great location for visiting the Peak District with the added bonus of being just a few steps away from a very nice pub."

The three en-suite bedrooms were just right for our party of 3 couples. The kitchen area is quite compact but well equipped. However we ate in the pub for the 3 nights we were there. The one negative point is the sensitive smoke alarm - which isn't really a problem unless you like your toast more than lightly done!

Thank you for your lovely feedback and we are pleased you enjoyed your stay. We can confirm that the smoke alarms are checked and conform to industry standards. They were professionally installed and have not caused any other issues,. Property Owner

  • "Had a fantastic week, the cottage is lovely and well equipped in a fabulous location."

Dog friendly, very clean and well decorated throughout with everything you need to enjoy your stay including an enclosed patio with a bbq. Whilst the listing does say not suitable for those with limited mobility, the pictures on the Sykes site show the front of the pub and the front of another cottage 200 metres into the village on the other side of the road. These both appear to have 2 steps. We assumed this meant no wheelchair access but would be OK for someone with heart problems who could manage a couple of steps. However there are 10 steps to navigate down to the property. I think the listing needs to be clearer but otherwise its a fantastic cottage with a great pub next door and I'd wholeheartedly reccomend it.

About the location

BUXTON

Tideswell 7 miles; Bakewell 12 miles; Matlock 21 miles.

It was the constant 28 degrees centigrade of the bubbling blue waters of Buxton's eight thermal springs that originally attracted the Romans to the town. However it was during the 18th and 19th centuries, under the patronage of successive Dukes of Devonshire, that the Palladian splendour of the Buxton of today was designed and built - including the magnificent semi-circular Crescent, The Great Stable, Hall Bank, The Square, The Pavilion Gardens and The Opera House. Today visitors continue to enjoy these magnificent buildings and gardens, as well as the Opera House's full programme and annual festivals of music and arts. There is good walking close by with rugged peaks to the north and gentle hills and dales to the south and a number of pretty towns and villages are dotted throughout including Bakewell, Ashford-in-the-Water, Castleton and Edale. The stunning properties of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are within easy driving distance and must be seen while visiting this area. A great base for exploring the Peak District.
