  • "Thank you for a wonderful stay, the garden views are spectacular."

An excellent base for Lyme Park and the High Peak. The cottage is beautifully finished, maybe short of seating in the lounge for 6 but we managed well with only 4 of us. The cottage was lovely and warm in the evenings, very clean bathrooms with a hot shower. A minor suggestion is that the mattresses and pillows might need an update, slightly uncomfortable but overall the bedrooms are furnished with exactly what you need. The location on a rural leafy lane and the vicinity to Chinley Churn were ideal. Thank you once again.

This is to make you aware that the gutting above the back door overflowed with the wet weather we had, probably the guttering needs cleaning out. A minor issue was the potato masher isn't very good, it's very bendy. Apart from these minor issues it was a wonderful place to stay.

5 adults and a teenager, plus the dogs. The cottage was as the listing and was very clean and warm. The welcome pack was lovely and much appreciated. Thought was given to the dogs too, a towel, bowls and some lovely biscuits. The view was amazing from the top of the garden and very secure, the dogs loved it. The views are amazing from the top of the garden. The kitchen was well equipped and we cooked on the first night, the local Chippy was the choice for the second night and it was really good. We are family that spend a lot of time around the dining table. The kitchen was a perfect room for us, just one tiny thing? Cushions on the dining chairs? They were a little hard after a while. We loved our stay and would definitely return. Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely cottage.

  • "Ingledene it’s a beautifully presented, spacious, airy, and well appointed detached bungalow cottage with views down the valley from the front and up into farmland at the back ."

Being a situated in what I would describe as a residential country lane gives the feeling of being really rural whilst not being isolated. There is an enormous porch and a utility room with access to the garden. Both of which are ideal for managing Muddy Boots, wet coats and dogs after a walk in the dales. All of the rooms, even the quirky, blue bathroom were generously sized. The garden was really big with a large lawn sweeping up to the farmland behind and was very secure for my two dogs, one of which is very small and they were interested but not bothered by the sheep in the next field. The village of Chinley is small, but perfectly formed with a post office / cheese specialist and convenient store if you need any essentials (and a couple of pubs but we didn’t use these). There is a Morrisons and and Aldi and very short drive away for more extensive supply runs. Chinley also has a nature reserve (about half a mile walk from the front door but with parking for 3 cars) although is a small, it’s a perfectly secure place to take your dogs for some off the lead time and meet the local dog walkers who always have good advice. The cleanliness standard was extremely high and the welcome pack on arrival was thoughtful and appreciated. We would love to stay again and would definitely recommend.

As I was staying for 2 weeks it was lovely to be offered the option of a linen swap. The owner went the extra mile to ensure the guests were comfortable in their stay. Thank you. An attempt had been made by the owner to clean these but with very little success. Professional carpet cleaners should have been engaged before we arrived. Very disappointing!

Many thanks for your feedback. The carpet had actually been cleaned professionally, but regrettably the stains were difficult to remove. The carpet is checked regularly and will always be cleaned when anything is discovered, however small stains can sometimes be hard to eradicate fully. We have also replaced the carpet since your stay and check it every changeover as it can be an unfortunate occasional consequence of a pet property where regrettably a dog may have an occasional accident, spillages, accidental damage etc. The carpet will always be thoroughly cleaned on these occasions. The vaccum cleaner wasn't great for hoovering up the dog hairs , it could do with an upgrade to a better model .. A great garden for everyone to enjoy but part of the fencing needed a bit more fencing off at the bottom as one of our small dogs managed to escape ....minor details . The new fencing around the back garden meant the dogs could play freely without worrying about the lambs in the back field or finding a gap to pop next door and say hello. We tried some new walks this time, including jacobs ladder expecting the up hill climb to be a challenge but it was intact coming back down that was harder on the legs! Having an electric car, I worry about finding a place to charge after the long drive to get there but the genepoint at morrisons hasn't failed me yet. A perfect home from home with a week without a drop of rain. For those of you who like to be in the outdoors, or like to let your 4 legged friends play in the fresh air, this cottage is ideal. It's always a shame to come home. We really appreciate the welcome gifts and are already looking forward to next time. Thankyou.

  • "We arrived just after 3."

00pm on Friday and were very impressed with the accommodation in terms of its condition and location and the nice touch with the welcome pack including the treats enjoyed by two hungry Labs! Quickly explored the village before it got dark and placed an order at the local chippy. Then the wind started to get up and the temperature dropped and Storm Arden started - albeit perhaps not as severely as on the east side of the country but enough to bring 2 or more inches of snow and a power cut from the early hours of Saturday morning until 2.00pm. Fortunately "Ingledene" had a gas fire in the lounge and a gas hob in the kitchen so breakfast by torch light was still possible and the village cafe had power for mid-morning coffee and we managed to enjoy a wintry walk in the lovely countryside. In spite of this inconvenience and the further snow falls on Sunday and minus 4 temperatures, the well appointed accommodation ensured we had a most enjoyable stay and would certainly recommend the property to other prospective guests. On our departure on Monday we faced a few more challenges getting out of the Peak District with snow and ice covered roads proving impassable in some places. But it wont put us off visiting again - but perhaps in the summer!

The dogs remembered the place instantly and were so excited when we arrived. We had a peaceful and relaxing week exploring the peaks, particularly a 4 hour hike along the pennine way. The cottage is welcoming and we all appreciated the generous touches, treats for the dogs and prosecco, bread, milk, biscuits and coffee for the humans. The autumn months has caused some gaps in the hedge to next door so one of our dogs who is very nosey would have happily popped by to say hello so they didn't get to stay outside alone but loved the garden for intermittent play outside of the walks and naps. Ending the day snuggling up in front of the cosy fire was perfect and we will be back again in the spring.

Our dogs loved the big garden and the walks nearby had the most stunning views. Our week in June was so hot we intend to return in the autumn for more walking when it's a bit cooler for our big dogs. One of them managed to find a gap in the hedge at the top right of the garden luckily just saying hello to the neighbours and not a chase in the sheep field above. Easily blocked with a chair to allow them to play freely. The cottage is spacious and due to the weather we had, we really appreciated the bifold doors on the kitchen. There was everything we needed upon arrival and the host was on hand when we struggled to free the keys from their box. They also generously returned a coat which was left behind. The property

Lying in the quiet village of Chinley is Ingledene, a pretty detached bungalow, looking picture perfect with a luscious green front and back garden and set in a fantastic location to base yourself in for walks and cycling in the Peak District and Derbyshire.

Inside you will be pleasantly surprised by the spacious rooms and efficient layout, with a stunning restored blue bathroom suite, mostly suitable for a group of walkers or family looking to get out in the fresh air.

You will find gorgeous antique wood furniture in the stone-walled porch room to start with, where you can store your bikes, hang up coats and kick off boots, and continue into the front sitting room, which contains a large three seater sofa placed in front of the TV and some stylish easy chairs.

The flooring throughout most the property is restored wood parquet, giving it an authentic feel, and teamed with classic bright and light décor, which continues into the three bedrooms.

There are two double rooms and a twin room, no matter which bedroom you choose to stay in you can start your day in style, with excellent storage space for you to make yourself right at home.

It’s not often that a bathroom will be your favourite room of a property, but this one might change your mind, as featured is a beautifully restored sky blue bathroom suite, including bath, sink and basin, with a separate modern shower cubicle, which gives the place a real classic retro feel.

To the back of the property is the open-plan kitchen and dining room, containing all you want to cook up a culinary masterpiece to impress the group with, or if it’s been a long day just gather around the six seater table and share out the takeaway haul!

The property benefits from a small utility room containing a washing machine, and a separate basin and WC, whilst the back garden can be accessed via the patio doors coming out of the dining area, and into a gravelled space containing a large outdoor table and chairs, before heading up some steps to the raised level lawned area.

There are lots of things to keep you busy in this area of the world, with Chinley itself being a popular hub for groups of amblers and cyclists, because of the proximity to Kinder Scout, which is the highest point in the national park and was the birthplace of the ‘Right to Roam’ movement in 1932, Chinley has a station on the main Manchester to Sheffield train line.

Nearby is the lovely Chapel-en-le-Frith, full of history and some lovely cafes and shops, with the popular spa town of Buxton lying just a bit further south, able to offer the best of the Peak District.

There is the Pavilion Gardens, with formal borders, lawns and play areas for the kids, so it will be a great afternoon well spent, or pop over to Poole’s Cavern and Country park to see the vast limestone caverns to see how crystal stalactites have formed over millions of years.

If walking isn’t your first choice you might have come to the wrong place, although you might be interested to know there’s a great mountain-biking scene in Chinley, so if you prefer to be on two wheels flying down the peaks then make sure you give it a go – but it’s not for the faint-hearted!

Whether going for an easy break away to stroll the peaks with friends, or you’re looking for more of a challenge, Ingledene will be the perfect place to base yourself in this spectacular part of the UK.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.
