"Fantastic place lovely location and beautifully equipped, couldn't ask for more."
-
"The cottage was perfect for our needs."
Great location for touring the area. The owners very quickly fixed a blown build and faulty rad valve. The garden was great for our small dog. Super pub just down the road which we used twice. Comfortable beds and well equipped kitchen. If there had been some cleaning kit we would have cleaned bath and shower. Overall we had a lovely week in the Dales and hope to come back in the future.
-
"Lovely cottage, a well kept garden and a great base to explore the Peak District"
-
"Really well equipped cottage, very spacious, only two negative points, first, the driveway is very difficult to get onto and there is a 20cm drop on one side."
It would be better to state that in the property description. Also a minor one, there were no egg cups Apart from those two things the cottage was superb and really pleasant to stay in.
We are very sorry that the parking isn’t straight forward. The cottage is in a conservation area and we have done our best with what we are allowed to do. There is a knack to being able to park comfortably. There is on street parking available too but best to avoid school dropping off and pick up times. Property Owner

"Great cottage in great location."
Cottage was as described.Lovely local pub The King William short walk away.We really enjoyed our weekend and would recommend this property to others.
-
"Lovely property well maintained, spacious, clean and comfortable."
Everything you need for a family holiday is provided, with games books, maps and walk leaflets. Great location near nice pubs and the Sunshine social club which was very welcoming. The meal we had at the nearby Elephant and Peacock was especially nice and rounded off a lovely visit. For fellow bus pass holders the "sixes" bus service is very good with a bus every 15 minutes in to Derby.
-
"The accommodation was excellent and situated conveniently to the Peak District."
Parking on the road was not a problem. Highly recommended.
-
"Spacious, well equipped, clean, lovely garden."
Exactly as described. Lovely local walks.
-
"Lovely cottage, you will enjoy your stay."

-
"A home from home, very spacious comfortable and clean."
The kitchen was very well equipped,Wi-Fi worked well shower very good beds comfy and would happily stay again. The area was very nice as were the locals had a lovely meal in the elephant and peacock and all enjoyed our stay..
-
"Generally the house was fine, lovely shower, comfy bed and beautiful snow drops in the garden."
Lovely walks across and around the Chevin from the door- dogs loved it. Kitchen was was well equipped We found the lack of blinds or curtains in the kitchen and to a lesser extent the dining room, a little unsettling, particularly in dark mornings and evenings - we felt a little "exposed" when getting early morning tea or making supper. especially being on a corner which seemed to have lots of passers by. It was a dull and sometimes wet week in February and the option of some brighter lighting / lamps in sitting and dining room would have made it more welcoming

"We had a wonderful week with my parents, who are in their 80s, teenage son and 2 dogs."
The cottage was very comfortable, well equipped and perfectly safe for our dogs. There was plenty of space for us all to spread out and ‘have our own space’ if necessary and lots to do both inside (DVDs, games, books) and outside (places to visit, lovely walks, places to eat/drink) the cottage. A wonderful garden - we just wished the weather had been better so that we could have made use of it.
-
"Another fabulous stay here!"
One minor issue which was fixed within an hour. Excellent! We will be back..again.
-
"Everything we needed for a happy, comfortable stay."
Lots of information about the property and the surrounding areas. We found the locals particularly friendly. Happy renters.
-
"Lovely property that fully lived up to its description."
Just a shame that it was never cold enough to justify lighting the fire in the living room! But a lovely spacious house. The parking space - as indicated by some of the reviews - was tight and anyone with mobility problems would find the descent through the garden challenging. But small issues in the scheme of things.
-
"Well equipped cottage."
Lovely location. Particularly appreciated the email from Dee with a lot of helpful tips regarding the property. Would recommend with the only caveat being the difficult access via steep steps but there is a flat access area to the side of the property.
-
"A lovely, comfortable and well-equipped cottage less than two miles from Belper, with pubs and restaurants within walking distance."
Our only issue was the restricted space for parking, which we wished we'd known about before we arrived. We parked in the road outside the cottage.

"Great place"

"Lavender Cottage is an absolute gem."
It’s beautifully furnished and has everything we needed to cook and relax: we felt instantly at home.
-
"This is definitely a new 'happy place' for us!"
We will be back again! Plenty of space for us to chill out in.
-
"Lavender Cottage is a very pleasant cottage for a family holiday; there is a well-equipped kitchen, the cottage is spacious and there are a choice of sofas for a family to either sit together or find a bit of space."
The garden is pretty, well kept and has seating which gets the sun well. We are critical of the parking and access arrangements: the parking space is not easily accessed due to its narrowness off a very steep road and the frequency of large vehicles parking close to or blocking the entrance (as happened three times during our stay). Some signage, or an 'H' bar on the road might help, and a widening of the access would improve it. The parking bay itself has a drop off several sides in excess of three feet and there is no guard rail - dangerous to young children & the infirm. Similarly, the steps down to the cottage have no handrail and a straight drop off the side - my elderly parents used it once and walked around to the side gate afterwards, finding it too risky. Unloading luggage, shopping etc. was a bind. We also had a safety concern: the first floor window handles all lock if the button is pressed and we could only locate one key in the property. Whilst the notes provided highlight this and there are warning labels (in English) we feel this is a dangerous flaw if there were a fire. This would seem a risk that could be cheaply remedied with replacement handles and we would suggest this be done or even replace the windows with escape windows.

"Lovely spacious, clean cottage with a lovely dog safe garden."
Back garden steps are very steep but the gate onto the street gave easy access. So much equipment in the kitchen we didn't need to bring anything. Pubs and clubs close by were very friendly and we had a great few days.
-
"The cottage was like home from home, everything we needed for our stay, and Dee the host was only a call away if we needed anything, we loved the little secure garden that was lovely to sit and relax in after a long walk in the evenings and the parking space was defiantly a bonus, great location to explore Derbyshire, plenty of local walks and pubs, we had a great stay and are likely to return in the future."
-
"A beautiful cottage, very well appointed."
Lovely walks in surrounding countryside. Would definitely go back.
-
"We can't fault Lavender Cottage."
..infact we love it so much we've already booked to return in September ! Dee and Derin have put their heart and soul into the cottage to make it feel warm and inviting as soon as you walk through the door...it's like coming home ! Facilities and cleanliness are 5*. Thank you for having us and we look forward to many more visits to Lavender Cottage and glorious Derbyshire. Christine, Steve, Murphy & Quinn.
-
"This is, by far, the nicest and most comfortable cottage we have ever stayed in."
It is beautifully maintained and has all the equipment you would need in the kitchen. The garden is secure and very prettily planted. The owners, Dee and Derin, are lovely people who go out of their way to help with any queries.
-
"A very spacious cottage for 4 adults."
Huge ensuite . Everything you need is there. Lovely enclosed garden. Situated in a village with great walks . Indian Restaurant/pub a few steps away with good quality food. We all had a great time and would definitely return.
-
"The cottage was just perfect."
Arrived to a lovely welcome card and bottle of Prosecco. Each room was clean, comfortable, supplying anything we may need for our trip. Lots of little touches making it extra special. Large secure garden for the dogs and in an excellent location with walks right on the doorstep. Alternatively you had the option to visit local tourist attractions such as Chatsworth, Matlock etc all within a 30 minute drive from the cottage. Will definitely be returning and recommending!
-
"A wonderful property."
Everything you could need - and more. Great location, with generous amenities. We had such a good time, in great comfort. Definitely intended to return …. Hope to make use of the lovely garden in the better weather.
-
"The cottage was very clean and comfortable."
Plenty of room to move around with a lovely garden for our dog to run around in. Plenty of walks to do directly from the front door as well as places to visit. We will definitely come back

""Perfection"."
A well appointed cottage, extremely comfortable with a wonderfully warm and homely feel. Absolutely loved it ... so much so that we're booking again for next Spring.
-
"Lovely cottage in great position."
Very comfortable and good garden for our dog. Kitchen well stocked and great showers. Would recommend
-
"Very comfortable and homely cottage which was very well equipped with everything we needed and cleanliness was excellent."
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would certainly recommend to others.
-
"We had a lovely short break at Lavendar Cottage, it is a really comfortable and welcoming cottage."
.....the pictures do not do to garden justice and the space inside is welcoming and spacious. The local area is very dog friendly and I managed a decent circular walk from the front gate and, with a slight detour due to cows blocking a still, 8 miles later popped out at a local pub for a refreshing break. The location is also an ideal base for exploring further afield and near good transport links. While I was walking my thrill seeking family visited Alton Towers and other days out were very dog friendly.....exactly what we were looking for when we booked the cottage. Unfortunately the pub across the road had no food, but this is out of the control of the cottage and the information provided pointed us in good directions nearby to eat out and for delivery...... my dog liked the 'dog cafe' a few steps away......and made a beeline for it each time we walked past. We would return in a heartbeat and recommend this to families and friends with or without a canine companion.
-
"This is a beautiful cottage, spacious, comfortable and well equipped."
The location is great for exploring Derbyshire. There is lots to do in the area for all ages, also allowing dogs. If I had to be picky it would be about the parking. The cottage has off road parking but the space is extremely tight for a family car and steps to the cottage are very steep. Due to congestion by residents, it is not easy to manoeuvre in and out of the parking space. Wherever possible we tried to park on the road but this was also tight.
-
"Really loved "lavender cottage" it was comfy and spacious and had everything we needed."
Especially loved the garden.. only complaint was we wish we could have stayed longer!!.. Would definitely recommend.
-
"Beautiful spacioius cottage ideally located for the Dales."
Lovely garden & 1st class garden furniture.

"17june2022."
Really enjoyable stay at a very well appointed cottage. Don't be put of by junior school opposite - we rarely heard them. Plenty of places to eat and drink. Soi kitchens opposite currently closed. Hollybush Inn stops serving food at 2.30pm. The Palfrey at New Inn closed Tuesdays. But good food at those 2. The Castle Pub at Bakewell do an excellent Sunday roast. The Spanker Inn at Belper has amazing home made pies. The Windmill farm has a small restaurant at ILkeston with lovely views and an old pole windmill. Cromford mill is worthy a visit for its history and to spot the huge trout cruising the small stream. Then over the road for a canal barge 2hr trip wed, sat, sun. Advise booking in advance as it sells out fast. Kids n dogs welcome . Back at the cottage,Walk up sunny hill road to a bridle path that traverses the ridge line along to Bakewell for amazing views. 2 points worthy of mention. Parking - easier to back on with someone guiding over the drop or park on the street no problem. Gas Hob and Oven - oven requires pushing dial in and holding til gas established by listening only as flame not visible when using oven. Worth mentioning there is an iron and board at the property as that's something people look for.onky a few minutes drive north along the A6 is a Morrison's and Lidl + petrol station. All in all a beautiful property ideally situated.

"Such a lovely comfortable cottage."
Lovely power shower, comfy beds, great kitchen with all the facilities and utensils. Cosy and comfortable lounge with Netflix. We binge watched After life in the evenings. Great garden to sit out in. We had fantastic weather so had a couple of BBQ's. Great pubs in walking distance Strutts Arms, nice food and the lovely oldy worldy Holly Bush Inn. The cottage is not far from so many lovely locations, Bakewell, Carsington Waters, Cromford Mills and the beautiful Dovedale. We had a lovely week in this comfortable cottage. Thank you.
-
"Beautiful kept cottage with lovely garden."
Very very clean with everything you would need. Showers fantastic, beds comfy We would definitely recommend and stay again Thank you
-
"Very comfortable cottage with a lovely enclosed garden, perfect for our stay with our two dogs."
The shower in the en suite bathroom is the best we’ve had in a holiday cottage anywhere, with great water pressure. The beds are comfy and Lavender Cottage is in a great location for interesting walks with or without dogs. We loved the industrial heritage locally too. We had a lovely meal with at The Palfrey and at The Strutt Arms opposite and if you like beer The Holly. Bush Inn is a must. Excellent communication from the owners too. The only problem was we had to come home!
-
"Quaint and quirky cottage, deceivingly large inside in a lovely location."
Well equipped, great layout, and contained everything you would expect of a property with modernised kitchen, bathroom and en-suite facilities. Spacious garden very suitable for our two dogs. The Strutt Arms is a very handy 50mtres or so from the property and has a great menu at exceptional prices. Thursday night is steak night (two sirloin steak dinners and a bottle of wine for under £30).
-
"A beautiful place, spacious but still cosy."
Clean and tidy. Garden is beautiful. Great welcome from the hosts. Access was difficult for one of our party with mobility issues but this was solved by accessing through the lower gate and parking on the road.
-
"Lovely cottage with a great little garden for the dog."
Comfortable beds and we appreciated the range of games / DVDs to enjoy in the evening.
-
"A fantastic cottage, has everything you need, lots of wonderful walks from your doorstep and plenty of dog friendly pubs nearby."
A welcome package greets you helping to make your stay an extra special one .Would certainly recommend, as an excellent place to explore the Derbyshire Dales. Can’t wait to go back .
-
"Enjoyed our stay at Lavender cottage."
Loved the garden, dog friendly. Had everything in the cottage we needed, kitchen well equipped. Parking in space but tricky but soon got hang of it, best to reverse in. Very clean. Lots of opportunities for walking and loads of places to visit within local area.
-
"Beautiful cottage (and location) with ample space, well furnished and with (almost) everything we could ask for - the only thing I'd suggest is a DAB radio or music player of some sort - but that would really be nit-picking on my part!"
When we arrived there was a personal welcome card and bottle of prosecco which was such an unexpected but welcome touch and really sums up the care we felt. We've come away wishing we could have stayed longer. Thank you for helping to make such a brilliant weekend!
-
"This lovely cottage has everything you need for a comfortable home from home get away."
Local shops and pubs within easy reach and plenty of places to explore.
-
"We spent a most wonderful Christmas at Lavender Cottage."
When we arrived the local school children were singing carols just across the road, it was almost magical. When we entered the property, we were all hugely impressed by the cleanliness, layout and fantastic facilities on offer. The Christmas tree in the living room and fairy lights in the bay window were a nice touch too. Couldn’t resist constantly using the open fire in the living room for an extra Christmassy effect. The kitchen was spacious, very well equipped and had a modern feel about it . All bedrooms were very clean and comfortable especially the main double room with its huge ensuite bathroom. The garden was spacious and safe enough to let the dog have a wonder round. I imagine that in the summer it would be lovely to sit in. Didn’t get to go on many walks due to the weather (well it was winter), but not complaining as we didn’t really want to leave the wonderfully cosy cottage and its real open fire. Overall, Lavender Cottage deserves a rating of outstanding! We are definitely going to return, possibly for Christmas 2022!
-
"A delightful and very well equipped cottage, obviously well loved by the owners, who also provided a lovely welcome gift and card, which was a lovely thoughtful touch."
There was everything provided to make our stay enjoyable. We had a wonderful time. The cottage is well situated to enable access to the many beautiful and interesting places of interest. We would love to return and would recommend the cottage without hesitation.
-
"Lovely touch to have a Christmas tree in the lounge, and a welcoming bottle of prosecco, loads of hangers too, always welcome, the lean to was good for putting soggy and muddy walking boots in."
.. very good location for walking from the door and some lovely pubs in easy walking distance, a dab place to stay, highly recommended
-
"Lavender Property fulfilled all expectations, clean, cosy and comfortable."
An excellent centre for exploring the area.
-
"Excellent. Loved everything about the cottage - location, ambiance, facilities."
It made for a wonderful holiday.
-
"Loads to do in this area, in the Derwent Heritage Valley and this cottage is well placed for exploring with walks from the door , good friendly pubs and plenty of choices for eating out or having a takeaway."
Cottage well equipped, we wanted for nothing.
-
"Brilliant cottage, well eqipped and very comfortable."
The garden was perfect for the dogs and once we got the hang of the parking space it was okay. Well placed for exploring the area. Have a look at the public footpaths around the area for great dog walks. The local pubs were amazing and the whole place so dog friendly I would definitely recommend it for you and your furry friends.
-
"The beautiful cottage had everything you needed and was very clean throughout."
Flowers and a welcome bottle of fizz was a lovely touch. Perfectly located, local supermarket and towns, and even joined the locals in Belper for a evening of Bingo. Welcoming pubs very close by with great food and plenty of walks to explore.
-
"A delightful, well equipped cottage set in beautiful countryside on the edge of the Peak District."
Within easy reach of some lovely places to visit. Lavender cottage has everything you need for a very enjoyable stay.
-
"The cottage was even better than we expected and description very accurate."
We had dogs with us and the garden was very safe for them. Nice little extras like the bbq and lovely outside furniture made it possible to have chilled afternoons in the garden after days out exploring. Will definitely stay there again as so much more to see.
-
"From the heading on your site, it sounds as though the cottage is in 'The Peak District' - and although actually we were really pleased with the facilities and the location - lots of pubs (loved the Holly Bush with its real ales and the Strutt Arms did lovely food and takeaway) and places to walk the dog, I'm not sure that it really is in 'The Peak District', being just a few miles from Derby!"
So it was less rural than we were expecting. But otherwise, a fabulous place and we enjoyed our stay.
-
"Lovely homely cottage with plenty of space."
Well stocked kitchen made it a real home from home experience. Beautiful countryside and not far from shops with a good restaurant on the doorstep. Perfect.
-
"Had a lovely holiday."
The cottage is cozy and has all we needed very much home from home feeling Beds comfy but bedding could have looked better if quilt covers and pillow cases were ironed as they were very creased. Overall a lovely cottage in a lovely location that we hope to visit again one day ….
-
"Absolute beautiful cottage which was ideally located for getting out and about."
The strutt Arms hotel and restaurant was only yards away where we had a superb meal. The owners had left Prosecco and fresh flowers which were a wonderful welcome. We sat out in the garden at every opportunity as it was beautiful. This was the best cottage we have stayed in so far.
-
"The cottage was perfect for us 4 adults and small dog."
Kitchen was well equipped and there was also a separate laundry room which we didn't need to use. Living area and dining room comfortable, spacious and attractively decorated. Bedrooms, again, perfect for 2 couples. The garden was stunning and we used the outdoor seating many times during the week which was pretty much sunny every day. Nearby local walks were explored with our dog every day as the round-about countryside is beautiful. We texted the owner, Dee, several times for advice, she was so helpful and responsive every time. Flowers and Prosecco on the table on arrival, this holiday stay was an absolute gem.
-
