"We had a great holiday at Buttercup Cottage, and only wished it had been for longer!"
The cottage is so lovely and had absolutely amazing views from the garden. It was very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed for a relaxing holiday. We would love to come back again.

"Buttercup Cottage was very cosy, homely and comfortable with a generous welcome pack on arrival."
It was very well equipped, the bed was very comfortable and the shower was good. It was in an excellent location, out of the way, but close to all the amenities which Castleton offers. Walking from the cottage and in the area were excellent. A small problem was very quickly rectified by the owner who was very helpful throughout. We will definitely return!
Dear Sally, thank you so much for your kind review and so glad you enjoyed Buttercup and the immediate location. We do like to have all the comforts to try and make it home from home :-) We'd love to host you again anytime! Best, Edward & Mark Property Owner

"A perfect cottage."
Everything was as described. The owners have really added their own home touches. We were made to feel welcome and comfortable from day one. Great Location, very peaceful and perfect to start one of the many walks available. Our only regret is we don’t have a dog. The cottage is certainly dog friendly. We will need to borrow one next time.
Thank you so much for your kind review! So pleased you had a great time at Buttercup and found it homely and settled in quickly. You are more then welcome back anytime and I can speak to Buddy about joining you, I'm sure he'll be open to being loaned out he loves Buttercup too :-) Property Owner

"This was our second stay at Buttercup Cottage and we had another perfect week."
Everything we needed, comfortable, beautiful views from the back garden, peaceful spot and loads to do from the doorstep. Our dog settled instantly, which is always a great sign. Thoughtful treats and wine for our arrival, which was a lovely touch. We definitely hope to stay again, thank you.
We are so pleased you had an amazing time at Buttercup again Sarah and taking the time to write your review, it makes us happy reading these. We visited the cottage after your stay to change some artwork and noticed you also made a lovely guest book note too. We also flicked through and saw your previous note :-) You left the place spotless too, thank you. We'd love to have you and your furry friends stay again anytime. Ed and Mark Property Owner

"Amazing cottage in a wonderful location."
Views in every direction are stunning. Easy parking right in the heart of the village. Will definitely book again next year.

"A fabulous cottage, cosy, warm and comfortable, superbly placed in Castleton for all amenities and local walks."
We would highly recommend and hope to be back again some time..

"Lovely, comfortable cottage, well equipped, cosy and warm."
Parking outside the door was easy and convenient. We had a fantastic week, thank you :)
-
"We had a great week here mid January."
Extremely clean & tidy upon arrival. Great location & just a 5 mins walk to pub & shops etc. Despite the very cold weather the cottage was very cosy & warm and the log burners were a nice feature to have(take ur own logs though). Would book again if it’s still being rented out as it’s currently up for sale sadly.

"Very nice chocolate box cottage very comfortable, beds and sofas, all you need for self catering."
and fantastic views, central for pubs places to eat and walks, it was not very clean the fridge and freezer and microwave were not cleaned the window sill in the bathroom was covered in dust and flies I did try to hoover before we left but the hoover had no suction due to hoover bag being full and there was no replacement bags. Overal we did enjoy our stay.

Everything there you could need and a fantastic location to pick up walks in the area. Would definitely look to come back and stay again.

-
"Great cottage and facilities."
Very clean and comfortable. Fantastic location.
-
"Lovely, comfy cottage, very well equipped and in a good location."
Parking is limited. We thought the provision of two logs for the fire and the milk in the Welcome Pack being a week out of date was a bit stingy! However, we would stay there again.
-
"Lovely cottage, nicely furnished and equipped."
Good modern shower room. Great views from both sides of the cottage.

"We had a perfect stay in this beautiful dog friendly cottage, everything we needed, comfortable, gorgeous setting and peaceful."
Plenty of pubs, cafes and amenities a short walk. Lots of walks from the doorstep. Friendly helpful neighbour and welcome email, wine & biscuits from owner. Could have easily stayed a lot longer. We would love to stay again.

"A beautiful cottage in a perfect location!"
A short walk to the centre of Castleton (5 mins) but with countryside views to the back made this a wonderful place to stay. The cottage was nice and clean, a decent shower and kitchen facilities too. Parking out the front was available for one car. There were lots of nice touches from the owners of the property such as a book shelf for swapping or sharing books, games and DVD's available and a little folder of information about the cottage itself and it's history, but also the local area and amenities. Would very much recommend staying here!
-
"We enjoyed our stay but the lack of garden furniture - specifically cushions or comfortable chairs - may have been annoying had the weather been kinder."
Might also have been nice to have had a radio somewhere in the property rather than having to use the TV's. But excellent location and never had a problem parking directly outside. Nice cafe very close by too.
-
"Lovely cottage in a lovely area."
Would certainly like to stay there again.
-
"Really lovely property in great location."
Loved the cosy lounge and having a real fire in the evenings. Also bed was really comfy and loved the shower!
-
"Your cottage is stunning, right in the middle of Castleton walking distance to everything."
Garden is just so beautiful to be able to see the views in the morning. I will definitely stay again
-
"We had a comfortable stay, marred by bad weather unfortunately."
The cottage had everything we needed except a cafetière for coffee.
-
"Such a beautiful cottage."
Really felt like home away from home. A lot of love and care has obviously gone into it. Wouldn't change a thing. It was just perfect. I will absolutely be back.
-
"Very comfortable cottage, really nice area."
We will return.
-
"Brill stay best cottage so far."
Quiet area of Castleton. Dog walks a plentey.7 pubs in village and 7 visited.Left a day early because of snow forcast good idea would av been snowed in.
-
"Beautiful cottage, lovely furnishings & facilities which made our stay very comfortable."
Only slight issues - there were no dishwasher tablets, only a quarter roll of toilet roll left with no spares anywhere & the UHT milk left as part of the welcome pack went out of date in September 2022. We had to go to the shop as soon as we got there. Apart from that it was excellent & I would recommend anyone to stay there
-
"Fantastic stay every thing we needed was there great that you left the Christmas ..."
Fantastic stay every thing we needed was there great that you left the Christmas tree up for us, very relaxing best cottage we've ever stayed in
-
"We had another wonderful Christmas at Buttercups Cottage."
We looked at booking again next year but we're sad to see it's already fully booked (no surprise as it's such a beautiful place to stay for Christmas). The cottage is in the perfect location and offers all the home comforts you could want, with the added bonus of the original features of a truly traditional homely abode. We adore both Castleton and Buttercups and will hopefully be fortunate enough to stay again in the future. Thank you for welcoming us back once again to your stunning accommodation
-
"A lovely, characterful cottage."
Very well equipped and in a fantastic location.
-
"Although the cottage was very nice we think it would have benefitted from a general tidy up of the outside areas."
The garden looked very inviting from the listing and we were hoping to use it even though the weather wasn't ideal. However it looked a bit sad and neglected and the front of the house was unswept which meant dragging in dead leaves etc every time we entered. We loved Castleton and would definitely recommend it for a holiday.
-

"This is an amazing cottage."
A really comfortable place to stay, very spacious and convenient to the village of Castleton with a number of walks close to the cottage. The outside space is a bonus and parking outside the cottage was very convenient.
-
"A gorgeous cottage, bursting with character."
In fact, it's far and away the best cottage we've stayed in. We felt at home straightaway... we'd really like to move in permanently! Equipped with everything you need and spotlessly clean. Beautiful views out the windows. Highly recommend.

"We had a lovely stay at the lovely Buttercup Cottage."
It was clean, comfortable, very well equipped and the garden was beautiful. We especially enjoyed the views from the bottom of the garden, a perfect spot for a coffee. The owners were helpful and responsive. It was great that the cottage was dog friendly. Castleton is a great base with good pubs and some beautiful walks. We would highly recommend and hope to return to Buttercup Cottage.

"Lovely cottage had everything we needed great location lovely view from garden will definitely stay again"
-
"What a beautiful cottage!"
We didn't need to use the log burners as it was already such a cosy cottage. Really well equipped and it felt like there were three sites in one with three TVs with DVD player and a lovely CD player that could blow the roof off! Castleton itself is a lovely village with loads of walks nearby and great pub's. There are a couple of shops nearby which sell the basics and lots of beer!
-
"Beautiful cottage, warm and welcoming in my favourite location Castleton."
We have stayed many times in castleton and buttercup cottage is one of the best
-
"Fabulous cottage, clean, cosy and very festive with a beautiful xmas tree."
-
"The cottage is fabuand in a perfect location."
In general it was very clean. However, we did find a dirty sock under the coffee table and the coasters and coffee table were a bit sticky - no problem for us to clean them. If the dog policy ever increases to 2 small well behaved dogs we would definitely return. Thanks for the use of such a great place!
